Abstract

Hygiene of food and beverages is influenced by cutlery. Behavioral factor related to the food management is an important factor in food hygiene. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of knowledge and washing techniques practice with the hygiene tableware at food stalls.The design of this study was Cross-sectional. The study was conducted in food stall at the Port Health Office Samarinda using observation method completed by cutlery hygiene inspection. The research samples were 4 to 5 tableware and 30 samples of food handlers. Mann Whitney test was used as the data analysis.The findings showed that there was no relationship between knowledge and hygiene of utensils (ρ value = 0370), while there was a relationship between the practice of cleanliness of cutlery (ρ value = 0.002) in food stall at The Port health Office area in Samarinda.Suggestions for food handlers are to soak the cutlery in advance so that the rest of the food stuck or the hardened part can be easily off and cleaned. Do the rinsing with the running water or frequently replace the rinse water. Re-clean the cutlery using a clean cloth or frequently replaced and keep cutlery in proper place, avoid the dust and dirt. To the related institutions are expected to do the regular inspection of the cutlery, do the monitoring and evaluation to coaching and training and the need of local regulations governing cleanliness of food stalls in the port authority. Keywords: the Health of Cutlery, Knowledge, Behavior, Practice

Abstract

Babies of low birth weight is a baby who weighed less than 2500 grams. Low birth weight is caused by several factors i.e. a premature birth, small size baby, and IUGR (intra-uterine growth retardation). The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between supplemental iron (Fe) in pregnant women and low birth weight. The design research is quantitative method with Case Control approach using 116 samples from 58 cases and 58 control groups with a ratio of 1:1 for both sexes. The sampling method is purposive Sampling. Dana analyzed using Chi Square correlation test with CI 95% at value of α of 5%. The results showed that there was a correlations between supplemental Fe in pregnant women (ρ value = 0,001 with OR = 8.25) with low birth weight.  To reduce the high incidence of low birth weight, pregnant women are suggested to take Fe supplements or taking high content Fe meal everyday.

Abstract

Childrend in general didn’t like consumed vegetables and fruits, the levels of fruit and vegetables consumption in children was low. Game was one of its media to gaves information that was fun for children, one of them was monopoly. Therefore, need for recogninition of compsumption pattern of fruits and vegetables throught the game would improved the knowledge,attitudes and actions of the consumption pattern of fruits and vegetables.This research aimed to determine the effect monopoly game increase of knowledge, attitude and actions consumption pattern of fruits and vegetables to students SDN 021 Sungai Kunjang, Samarinda using quasy eksperiment with pretest-posttest with control group and an experimental group and a large sample of 32 students in each class control and 43 students in the eksperimental group. Sampling techniques is purposive sampling and data analisis using the paired T-test, wilcoxon test,dan man whitney test with significance  < 0,05. The results showed that there were significant knowledge ( value=0.000), attitude ( value=0.000) and actions ( value=0.000) of students before and after the intervention of monopoly game to increase knowledge, attitude dan actions of fruits and vegetables to students SDN 021 Sungai Kunjang Samarinda.The suggestion of this research were cooperation between the school and the parents, and the guidance from health The suggestion of this research were cooperation between the school and the parents, and the guidance from health care worker about the importance to eating fruits and vegetables to students to conduct training joint cooperation of UKS and small doctor in school.Key Words : Monopoly, Knowledge, Attitude and Actions

Abstract

Factors that affect worker producktivity is the intake level of nutrient of worker who can be seen from their nutritional status. The need for workers nutrition must be in accordance with the job. A worker with a good nutritional state will have a better working capacity and endurance, on the other hand a worker with a poor nutritional state will accelerate exhaustion and this can disrupt productivity. This study aims to know the correlation of nutritional status that consists of body mass index, energi intake, protein intake,  and intake of iron to the productivity of female workers in PT. Idec Abadi Wood Industries. This study uses cross sectional study design. The sample in this study was a female worker at the wholesale totaling 50 people, by measured the body mass index (BMI) and recall 24 hours. Data analysis technique used is multiple linier regression. Result from the study showed an association between nutrional status (BMI) and productivity (0,001 < 0,05), energy intake with productivity (0.008 < 0,05), intake of iron with productivity (0.045 < 0.05). And there was no significant association between protein intake and productivity (0,243 < 0,05). Companies were advised to make a special program for the monitoring process and the adequacy of nutrient intake of workers. The company needs to add medical personel especially in the field of nutrition. Dissemination of information through sosialization, posters or leflets on the pattern of balanced nutrition for workers

Abstract

ABSTRAKBayi berat lahir rendah (BBLR) merupakan keadaan dimana bayi yang dilahirkan memiliki berat kurang dari 2500 gram. Kejadian BBLR dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor yang terdapat pada Ibunya sendiri, diantaranya anemia, pendapatan, dan pantang   makanan.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan anemia, pendapatan, pantang makanan pada Ibu hamil dengan kejadian BBLR. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah cross sectional study. Penelitian dilakukan di Ruang Mawar RSUD Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Samarinda pada Bulan Mei Tahun 2014.Sampel penelitian diambil dari 94 Ibu yang melahirkan dengan genap bulan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan data primer dan data sekunder yaitu berupa catatan buku pasien. Uji statistik yang digunakan adalah chi square test dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95%.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya hubungan anemia dengan kejadian BBLR (? = 0,037),Disarankan agar pemberian suplemen Fe dilengkapi dengan suplemen mikronutrien karena suplemen Fe kurang efektif dalam mengurangi angka anemia pada Ibu hamil.

Abstract

Abstrak: Provinsi Kalimantan Timur merupakan salah satu provinsi di Indonesia dengan jumlah penderita obesitas tertinggi. Prevalensi gizi lebih dan penyakit degeneratif lebih banyak terjadi pada perempuan dibandingkan laki-laki. Gizi berlebih yang tidak dikelola dengan baik perlu mendapat perhatian serius karena dapat menurunkan kesehatan, produktivitas kerja, dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Selain itu konsumsi sayur dan buah masih rendah yaitu 11,49%, dan di Kota Samarinda sebesar 11,59%. Tujuan dilaksanakan pengabdian ini adalah memberikan edukasi gizi seimbang untuk meningkatkan status gizi Ibu Rumah Tangga (IRT) menjadi status gizi baik Pengabdian ini menggunakan metode edukasi gizi dengan menggunakan modul gizi seimbang, template isi piringku, dan model makanan, sebelum diberikan edukasi gizi diberikan pre-test dan sesudah edukasi gizi diberikan post-test yang terdiri dari 15 pertanyaan pilihan ganda terkait dengan materi edukasi gizi seimbang Mitra pendukung pengabdian ini adalah Kelurahan Air Putih dan mitra peserta edukasi gizi sebanyak 21 orang. Hasil sudah terlaksana pengabdian dengan baik dan lancar, menunjukkan peningkatan skor pengetahuan sebelum dan sesudah edukasi gizi sebesar 28,20%.Abstract: East Kalimantan Province is one of the provinces in Indonesia with the highest number of obesity sufferers. The prevalence of overnutrition and degenerative diseases is more common in women than men. Excessive nutrition that is not managed properly needs serious attention because it can reduce health, work productivity and improve people's welfare. Apart from that, consumption of vegetables and fruit is still low, namely 11.49%, and in Samarinda City it is 11.59%. The aim of this service is to provide balanced nutrition education to improve the nutritional status of Housewives (IRT) towards good nutritional status. This service uses nutritional education methods using balanced nutrition modules, my plate contents templates, and food models. Before being given nutrition education, a pre-test is given and after being given nutrition education, a post-test is given which consists of 15 multiple choice questions related to balanced nutrition education materialPartners supporting this service are Air Putih District and 21 partners participating in nutrition education. The results of service that was carried out well and smoothly showed an increase in knowledge scores before and after nutrition education by 28.20%.

Abstract

This community service project aimed to enhance the knowledge of outsourced workers at BPJS Kesehatan’s Samarinda Branch Office regarding the health risks associated with smoking and the importance of maintaining a nutritious breakfast routine. Initial data revealed prevalent unhealthy habits, including high smoking rates and irregular breakfast patterns among workers, which can adversely impact their productivity and long-term health. The intervention involved structured health education sessions, including presentations and interactive discussions, focusing on the adverse effects of smoking and the benefits of a healthy breakfast for sustaining energy and concentration. Pre-test and post-test assessments were conducted to measure knowledge improvement, and results showed a statistically significant increase in post-intervention scores (p = 0.029). These findings underscore the positive impact of targeted health education in promoting healthier habits among outsourced workers, contributing to better workplace well-being and productivity.

Abstract

The prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) in Samarinda is the highest in East Kalimantan, driven by technological developments, environmental changes, and lifestyle factors. This community service aimed to provide nutrition education to improve dietary knowledge among people with DM, supporting better DM control and preventing complications. The education focused on the DM diet using the 3 J rule (Amount, Type, and Schedule of meals) and the Balanced Nutrition Meal Plate Guidelines, incorporating the “T Plate” eating model. A pretest-posttest design was employed, with knowledge assessed through a questionnaire of 10 true/false questions before and after the intervention. This service, contucted in partnership with the Palaran Health Center, included 22 participants, with 21 showing improved scores-an average from 73.18 to 88.64. This activity demontrates the effectiveness of nutrition education in enhancing dietary knowledge among DM patients.
