Abstract

This activity aims to provide guidance, training, and mentoring to help resolve problems faced by partners, including high operational costs of fish farming because of the high cost of factory-made pellets, limited understanding and knowledge of fish farming techniques, and limited access to business capital in groups of freshwater fish farming in village of Jerukagung Srumbung Magelang. In this activity, the use of semi-intensive farming technology was introduced and the introduction of mixer and fish pellet feed making machines technology were able to produce pellets independently for groups of fish farmers. Semi-intensive system farming techniques are proven to be able to increase productivity at a low cost to replace the conventional methods that have been done so far. The service program was completed in eight months, divided into three stages consisting of competency enhancement, technology development, and partnership development. The use of semi-intensive farming technology by applying good pond water maintenance techniques, selecting the right seeds, and optimal feeding techniques has been shown to increase fish production. High feed costs during the enlargement process which can reach 75% of the total cost can be replaced using pellet feed has made by group using local raw materials that are easily available in the surrounding area or environment, so as to reduce feed costs by up to 25%.

Abstract

Operasional boiler di sebagian besar pabrik gula saat ini banyak yang mengalami kekurangan pasokan bahan bakar ampas tebu karena penurunan kapasitas giling. Kondisi ini menimbulkan masalah terhadap kontinuitas pasokan energi uap dan listrik di pabrik gula, sehingga untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut banyak dilakukan dengan penambahan bahan bakar alternatif dengan model pembakaran bersama (co-firing). Penelitian ini mencoba melakukan kajian model pembakaran bersama ampas tebu dengan sekam padi dan cangkang kelapa sawit berbasis persentase berat bahan bakar. Penelitian dilakukan berdasarkan data operasional boiler di pabrik gula Trangkil saat musim giling tahun 2020. Data yang dikumpulkan meliputi tekanan, kapasitas, dan temperatur uap, serta temperatur air masuk boiler dan temperatur gas buang. Analisis bahan bakar yang dilakukan adalah uji proksimat dan ultimat. Perhitungan dan simulasi pemakaian bahan bakar, kebutuhan volume furnace, efisiensi, dan rugi-rugi boiler dilakukan menggunakan bantuan analisis software Firecad WTPB. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa co-firing dapat menaikkan efisiensi boiler, menurunkan rugi-rugi boiler, menurunkan pemakaian bahan bakar dan kebutuhan volume furnace, serta menurunkan kecepatan gas buang di sekitar pipa-pipa uap utama. Mitigasi risiko harus dilakukan karena sistem ini dapat meningkatkan temperatur furnace, yang dapat meningkatkan potensi slagging dan fouling sehingga mengganggu kinerja boiler saat musim giling.

Abstract

Corrosion can easily be found in various types of equipment made of metallic substrates. Low carbon steel and stainless steels are materials that is widely used in machine tools and structure of the food and beverage industry. Low carbon steel is preferred because it is relatively inexpensive, but less resistant to corrosion, so it is necessary substitution with materials that are more resistant to corrosion, thereby increasing the economic value of equipment or machinery. Juice cane (nira) is the result of a milking cane plant into raw materials for white sugar. Juice contains sucrose, reduction sugar, organic and inorganic substances and water. Juice is acidic as pH below 7 due to the activity of microbes in it, and over time the juice will become more acidic. This study aims to determine the corrosion rate of low carbon steel and stainless steel SS 201, SS 304 and SS 430 series in the medium juice at room temperature. Corrosion testing done in three cell electrodes based on the Tafel extrapolation method. The test results showed that the lowest corrosion rate occurs in SS 304, while the highest corrosion rate occurs in SS 430. The corrosion rate of SS 304 on the juice is low, while the corrosion rate of low carbon steel, SS 201 and SS 430 were moderate. The corrosion rate of the material on the juice is strongly influenced by the juice condition, mainly by the pH value.

Abstract

Quenching is heat treatment process to increase the hardness and strength of steel. Important factors in the quenching include design of the equipment, type of coolant, coolant concentration, bath temperature, and motion rate during cooling. There are several types of cooling media that can be used in the quenching including water and oil. This study discusses the influence of dissolved salt concentration as a coolant in the quenching of S45C steel. The concentration of salt solution made variation between 0% to 25% by volume solution of 10 liters each. Quenching starts from the heating of steel in the furnace up to the austenitizing temperature and held at that temperature for 30 minutes followed by rapid cooling. Salinity in quenching media greatly influence the value of tensile strength and the hardness of steel. The higher salinity will decrease tensile strength and ductility. The higher salinity can accelerate the cooling process, evidenced by the emergence of a growing martensitic structure and refined at the higher salinity. Steel hardness will increase with increasing salinity.

Abstract

Bullying is a pervasive manifestation of aggressive conduct that is commonly witnessed among pupils in academic settings. A plethora of bullying behaviours are commonly witnessed in academic environments. The objective of this study is to analyse and clarify the discourse framework that can be utilized to tackle the consequences of bullying associated with traditional games and music, in order to alleviate bullying in educational settings. The current study was designed with the aim of utilizing a comprehensive review of existing literature. The current study involved a cohort of 30 individuals who were registered as pupils at a Conventional Art Institution in Padangpanjang, and was conducted in conjunction with a comprehensive review and analysis of relevant literature. The data employed in this investigation were acquired via the distribution of surveys. The results of this study suggest that the integration of traditional games and music into the academic syllabus can be a viable approach to tackle instances of bullying behaviour. It is advisable for educators across all tiers of the educational hierarchy to integrate conventional games into the pedagogical framework as a means of mitigating occurrences of bullying in academic institutions.

Abstract

Cooperatives in carrying out their business processes are guided by applicable regulations and standards. Problems that often occur are generally due to changing regulations or ignorance of applicable regulations. This problem causes the cooperative to not run properly, reflecting inefficient governance. The purpose of the sugarcane farmer empowerment program is to assist and simplify the cooperative administration process by publishing a standard operating procedure book based on farmer practices in the field and applicable regulations. This is in line with realizing one of the missions of LPP Yogyakarta Polytechnic, namely organizing community service in order to disseminate information. This activity was carried out with partners from sugarcane farmers in Sleman who are members of the Sido Makmur Abadi Sugarcane Farmers Cooperative. The activity stages begin with identifying problems in the cooperative administration, followed by problem solving by compiling and publishing the SOP book, and finally disseminating SOP book information through socialization to administrators, supervisors, and sugarcane farmers who are members of the cooperative. The process of assessing the level of understanding of sugarcane farmers before and after socialization The results of empowerment show a significant increase in understanding of the SOP from the initial level of understanding of the SOP of cooperative members only 9.09% to 81.82%. Increased understanding of the SOP is expected to be implemented by sugarcane farmers so that the level of governance and performance of the cooperative becomes better than before.

Abstract

Kesenian dabuih yang berkembang di Nagari Lumpo, Kecamatan IV Jurai, Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan, sering ditampilkan dalam acara adat. Dalam pertunjukannya, terdapat ansambel pembuka bernama Maindang Rabano yang berfungsi sebagai pengantar sebelum seni dabuih dipentaskan. Keunikan Maindang Rabano terletak pada ritme dan pola vokalnya, yang menjadi inspirasi untuk mengembangkan komposisi musik baru. Studi ini bertujuan untuk menciptakan komposisi musik berbasis seni dabuih, khususnya dari permainan Maindang Rabano, dengan pendekatan tradisional dan berbagai teknik kreatif. Data diperoleh melalui observasi lapangan, diskusi, sintesis, hingga tahap realisasi, serta melalui dokumentasi seperti rekaman audio, buku penelitian terdahulu, dan arsip budaya setempat. Maindang Rabano dimainkan secara berkelompok dan termasuk jenis musik perkusi ritmis, karena seluruh alat musiknya dipukul. Instrumen utama adalah gandang rabana yang dimainkan oleh 10-12 orang, dengan teknik campuran serta pola call and response (tanya jawab). Hasilnya, komposisi ini mencerminkan karakteristik unik dari Maindang Rabano dalam konteks musik baru yang mempertahankan unsur tradisional. Proses ini diharapkan dapat melestarikan dan mengenalkan seni dabuih ke generasi mendatang dengan format yang relevan dan mudah diapresiasi.

Abstract

In Salawat Dulang performances, there are specific roles known as Induak (mother) and Anak (child). Each plays a distinct part in bringing the performance to life. This study aims to explore the roles and functions of Induak and anak in the Salawat Dulang art form as performed by the Sinar Barapi Group in Nagari Pariangan, Pariangan District, Tanah Datar Regency. The research employs qualitative methods, gathering data through interviews, literature reviews, and documentation to support the findings. In Salawat Dulang, the Induak serves multiple roles: preacher, lead singer, musician, creator, and composer. Meanwhile, the Anak acts as the Induak's counterpart, supporting as a co-preacher, backup singer, accompanying musician, co-creator, and co-composer. The dynamic between Induak and anak is inseparable; their interdependence is key to ensuring the performance flows smoothly from start to finish. This relationship is reflected in a traditional Minangkabau proverb: "Simuncak mati tarambau kaladang, mambao ladiang lukolah pao, kaduonyo adaik jo sarak diminang kabau, sarupo aua jo tabiang, sanda manyanda kaduonyo," which emphasizes the harmony and mutual support embedded in Minangkabau customs and culture.

Abstract

To maintain sugarcane freshness, it is crucial to process it promptly after harvest. This study aims to analyze the quality of molded brown sugar derived from raw materials with varying levels of freshness. The research adopts a non-factorial design involving three main treatments: the duration of stay on the first, second, and third days, with three replications. Parameters observed during the molded brown sugar production process include brix, pol, purity, and reducing sugar from raw juice; brix, pol, purity, and reducing sugar from clear juice; color, brix, moisture content, and reducing sugar of sugar. Data analysis is performed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with the application of Duncan's multiple range test. The purity value in raw juice data H1 with a value of 89.54 significantly differs from data H3 with a value of 73.83. Similarly, reducing sugar in raw juice H1 at 0.74 significantly differs from H3 at 0.93. The purity value in clear juice H1 at 88.34 significantly differs from H3 at 75.40. As for reducing sugar in clear juice, H1 at 0.81 is significantly smaller than H3 at 1.18. Regarding the difference between open-pan and close-pan cooking treatments, it is concluded that the cooking system producing the best molded brown sugar is the close-pan system, evident in both color results and the reduced sugar content of molded brown sugar. The best color for molded brown sugar is found in treatment H1 (day 1) with the close-pan system at 551.40. The lowest reducing sugar content is observed in treatment H1 (day 1) with the close-pan system at 0.94.
