Abstract

 This community service program aims to empower adolescents  in Kedungarum Village by implementing brainstorming techniques to enhance their English reading skills. The training is designed to improve reading and comprehension of English texts through interactive and collaborative approaches. The methods used include material presentations, group discussions, and practical reading exercises utilizing brainstorming techniques. In this program, participants are actively engaged in identifying main ideas and supporting details in texts and developing critical understanding through group discussions. The results of this activity show a significant increase in active participation and understanding of the content, as well as in the participant's ability to generate creative ideas. Post-training evaluations indicate that the youths who participated in this program experienced significant improvements in reading skills and interest in the English language. These findings suggest that brainstorming techniques can be an effective method for enhancing English literacy among young people.  AbstrakKegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan remaja di Desa Kedungarum melalui penerapan teknik brainstorming guna meningkatkan kemampuan membaca teks bahasa Inggris. Pelatihan ini dirancang untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca dan pemahaman teks bahasa Inggris secara interaktif dan kolaboratif. Metode yang digunakan meliputi penyampaian materi, diskusi kelompok, dan latihan praktik membaca menggunakan teknik brainstorming. Dalam kegiatan ini, peserta diajak untuk secara aktif mengidentifikasi ide-ide utama dan detail pendukung dalam teks, serta mengembangkan pemahaman kritis melalui diskusi kelompok. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam partisipasi aktif dan pemahaman peserta terhadap isi teks, serta kemampuan mereka dalam mengembangkan ide-ide kreatif. Evaluasi pasca-pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa para remaja yang mengikuti kegiatan ini mengalami peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan membaca dan ketertarikan terhadap bahasa Inggris. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa teknik brainstorming dapat menjadi metode yang efektif untuk meningkatkan literasi bahasa Inggris di kalangan remaja.

Abstract

Kemajuan teknologi yang pesat di era digital telah membawa perubahan signifikan dalam berbagai bidang, termasuk pendidikan. Penelitian ini membahas integrasi Kecerdasan Buatan (Artificial Intelligence/AI) dalam media pembelajaran berbasis Scratch untuk memberdayakan remaja di Desa Kedungarum. Scratch, sebagai alat pemrograman visual yang intuitif, memungkinkan pengguna memahami konsep dasar pemrograman secara menarik dan mudah diakses. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan literasi digital, pemahaman teknologi, dan pengembangan materi ajar kreatif bagi siswa SD. Hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan teknologi, kreativitas, dan penerapan konsep AI pada pengalaman pembelajaran interaktif peserta. Inisiatif ini mendukung prinsip "Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka" yang menekankan pembelajaran mandiri dan inovasi.

Abstract

Reading comprehension remains a challenge for many English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students, particularly in engaging with and understanding texts effectively. Traditional teaching methods often fail to encourage active participation and critical thinking, resulting in low motivation and limited comprehension skills. To address this gap, this study investigates the implementation of visualizing strategies to enhance reading comprehension skills among English Education students at Universitas Kuningan. Visualizing strategies encourage students to create mental images of the text, fostering deeper engagement and understanding of the material. The research employed a qualitative approach within a collaborative action research (CAR) framework, involving 14 students as participants. Data collection methods included classroom observations, student reflections, and pre-and post-test assessments of reading comprehension. The findings indicate that integrating visualizing strategies into reading instruction significantly improved students' comprehension of folktale texts. Students demonstrated enhanced abilities to identify main ideas, draw cultural connections, and confidently articulate their understanding through discussions and retelling activities. The pre-test average score of 59.4 increased to 85.7 in the post-test, with all students exceeding the Minimum Mastery Criterion (MMC) of 75. Participants also reported increased motivation and enjoyment, attributing their progress to the strategy's interactive and engaging nature. This study recommends a broader application of visualizing strategies in English language education to support comprehension and engagement across diverse text genres. Further research is suggested to explore its adaptability and impact in different educational contexts..

Abstract

Data mining has a background with the condition of an abundance of data (the overload data) and the explosion of information faced by companies, institutions, or organizations that have been stored for many years. This situation is also faced in several universities that store various kinds of data, especially new admissions databases. However, the abundant data has not been widely used in digging the information or knowledge that can help university management in making strategic plans. Every year there are new students who retire and do not register, therefore, it takes an application that can process a lot of data to find out the possible retirement for new students. To find out the prediction of retirement prospective students, this paper uses C.45 algorithm. The method can change the very large fact into a decision tree that represents the rule. The result of this research is the application can classify the new students in a tree structure in order that it can produce a rule. This application is able to predict the possibility of the retirement of the new student. With this application, it is expected that the possibility of a prospective student retiring from college can be known at an early stage, so the management can make a decision easily. Development of this application uses PHP as the interface application system and MySql in-database processing. The system development methodology uses the waterfall model

Abstract

This research aims to implement the Learning Management System of the Learning Process for developing a reading instruction model based on HOTS. Conducted the research in a private university in Kuningan, West Java, Indonesia. At present, one of the private tertiary institutions in Kuningan during COVID-19 is conducting lectures in a virtual class using Moodle in the learning process with the e-class, a part of the LMS. With the implementation of a virtual class in the form of Moodle used by the students of a private university in Kuningan, it is hoped that it can improve the reading instruction model based on higher-order thinking skills. This research is a kind of research and development or Research and Development (R&D) to produce products and test the feasibility of products, where the products developed are in the form of a reading instruction model based on HOTS using the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development and Implementation, Evaluation). The results are very effective in using this model, as seen from the test results obtained by students in the class.

Abstract

Peningkatan Keterampilan MS Office untuk Perangkat Desa dan PKK adalah sebuah pengabdian yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan pengoperasian MS Office pada perangkat desa dan ibu-ibu PKK desa Sangkanhurip. Penggunaan perangkat lunak MS Office menjadi sangat penting dalam kegiatan administrasi di desa dan PKK, termasuk untuk membuat dokumen, spreadsheet, dan presentasi. Namun, beberapa perangkat desa dan ibu-ibu PKK belum sepenuhnya menguasai penggunaan perangkat lunak tersebut. Metode pelatihan yang digunakan adalah pelatihan tatap muka dan pengenalan software secara praktik langsung. Pelatihan dilaksanakan dengan mengajarkan dasar-dasar pengoperasian MS Office, seperti MS Word, MS Excel, dan MS PowerPoint. Peserta diberi kesempatan untuk berlatih membuat dokumen, spreadsheet, dan presentasi dengan bimbingan dari pelatih. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa peserta mengalami peningkatan signifikan dalam penggunaan software dan mampu membuat dokumen, spreadsheet, dan presentasi dengan lebih efektif dan efisien. Peserta juga mengungkapkan bahwa pelatihan ini sangat bermanfaat untuk pekerjaan administrasi mereka di desa dan PKK. Diharapkan pengabdian ini dapat meningkatkan produktivitas dan kinerja perangkat desa dan PKK desa Sangkanhurip serta memberikan manfaat bagi masyarakat desa. Selain itu, pengabdian ini juga dapat menjadi contoh bagi desa-desa lain untuk meningkatkan keterampilan teknis dalam administrasi desa dan PKK

Abstract

Penentuan loyalitas pelanggan yang tepat adalah salah satu faktor kunci dalam menjaga pelanggan agar tetap berlangganan. Di Toko AD Utama Jalaksana, proses ini masih dilakukan secara acak, hanya berdasarkan jumlah pembelian tertentu. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan sistem pendukung keputusan yang mampu membantu dalam menentukan loyalitas pelanggan secara lebih terstruktur. Untuk menyelesaikan masalah ini, digunakan metode TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution). Metode TOPSIS dipilih karena memiliki konsep yang sederhana dan mudah dipahami, serta mampu mengukur kinerja relatif dari berbagai alternatif keputusan dengan perhitungan matematika yang sederhana dan komputasi yang efisien. Pengembangan sistem menggunakan metode Waterfall, dengan bahasa pemrograman PHP dan MySQL sebagai basis data. Sistem ini menghasilkan laporan penilaian pelanggan yang menampilkan peringkat dari yang memiliki nilai loyalitas tertinggi hingga terendah, sehingga membantu toko dalam menentukan pelanggan yang paling loyal.
