Abstract

Objective: This study addresses Goal 2 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, emphasizing food security and safety by enhancing integrated agricultural information and awareness among Aisyiyah female activists, particularly women farmers and MSME drivers. The focus is on improving knowledge regarding food safety in the Free Nutritious Food (MBG) program targeting Indonesian youth. Method: A hybrid approach, combining online and offline activities, was employed. The program included two main interventions: online assistance on halal and healthy food quality assurance, and offline training on formulating hydroponic nutrient solutions and tea compost bag techniques. Results: The program successfully raised awareness about the prevalence of food poisoning—nearly 20%—in the MBG program and addressed the low horticultural production in NTT due to the high cost and health risks of chemical hydroponic nutrients. Participants, particularly from Aisyiyah leadership in Oebobo, Kupang, showed improved knowledge and skills in producing safe and independent hydroponic nutrients. Novelty: The integration of halal food quality training with sustainable urban farming practices through customized hydroponic nutrient formulation represents an innovative community empowerment model that strengthens food security and public health resilience among women-led groups in Eastern Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the effect of a combination of tissue culture media based on natural organic materials (potato, tomato, and coconut water) with sweet corn extract on the growth of sweet corn explants in vitro. The combination of sweet corn extract concentration (0, 50, and 100 g/L) and organic matter (0, 50, and 100 mL/L) was tested using a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications. The parameters observed included the time to grow adventitious buds, the percentage of adventitious buds, and the number of adventitious buds. The results showed that the combination of media did not significantly affect all parameters, but the combination of 100 g/L sweet corn extract with 100 mL/L organic matter tended to give better results, such as faster shoot growth time (18.25 HST). Independently, 100 g/L sweet corn extract gave a real effect on the highest percentage of adventitious shoot growth of 93%. This is due to the content of natural growth regulators, especially cytokinins, which encourage shoot growth. This study supports the potential use of natural organic materials as a tissue culture medium that is more environmentally friendly and economical, and shows the opportunity to develop sustainable tissue culture techniques based on local materials

Abstract

Napa cabbage, a leafy vegetable highly sought after by Indonesian consumers due to its rich content of pro-vitamin A, ascorbic acid, and fiber, was the subject of this study. The aim was to determine the most effective concentration of lamtoro liquid organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of napa cabbage plants. The research took place in Modong Village, Tulangan District, Sidoarjo Regency, with follow-up observations conducted at the Agrotechnology Study Program Laboratory during October-December 2022. A non-factorial Randomized Group Design (RBD) was employed, consisting of 7 treatments: P0 (control), P1 (5 ml/L), P2 (10 ml/L), P3 (15 ml/L), P4 (20 ml/L), P5 (25 ml/L), and P6 (30 ml/L). The experiment was repeated 3 times, resulting in 21 experimental units, and data analysis included the 5% BNJ test. Variables observed encompassed plant height, number of leaves, root length, wet weight, dry weight, and harvest index. The findings indicated that administering lamtoro liquid organic fertilizer at the highest dose of 30 ml/L had the most significant impact on plant height and leaf number in napa cabbage plants, while other parameters such as root length, fresh weight, dry weight, and harvest index were not significantly affected.  Highlights: Importance of Napa Cabbage: The abstract highlights the importance of Napa cabbage in Indonesia due to its high nutritional content, which includes pro-vitamin A, ascorbic acid, and high fiber. Effectiveness of Lamtoro Liquid Organic Fertilizer: The study aims to determine the best concentration of lamtoro liquid organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of napa cabbage plants. The study shows that the highest dose of 30 ml/L of lamtoro liquid organic fertilizer had the best effect on the growth of plant height and number of leaves. Experimental Design: The study used a non-factorial Randomized Group Design (RBD) with 7 treatments and was repeated 3 times to obtain 21 experimental units. The variables observed included plant height, number of leaves, root length, wet weight, dry weight, and harvest index. Keywords : Cabbage, Growth, Lamtoro Liquid Organic Fertilizer, Napa, Yield
