Abstract

Indonesian language learning in elementary schools plays a crucial role in developing critical thinking skills and student learning awareness. However, learning still tends to be teacher-centered and does not fully train students to be aware of their own thinking processes. One effort that can be made to address this problem is the implementation of metacognitive strategies combined with the use of video learning media. This study aims to describe the application of metacognitive strategies in Indonesian language learning using video media and its impact on the critical thinking skills of fourth grade students at SD Negeri 70 Banda Aceh. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of one teacher and several fourth grade students. The results of the study indicate that the application of metacognitive strategies, including planning, monitoring, and evaluation, can improve students' engagement, understanding, and awareness of their learning process. The use of instructional video media can capture students' attention, increase their motivation to learn, and help them understand the material on differentiating facts from opinions more concretely. Students demonstrated positive responses, expressed their opinions more confidently, and gained greater confidence in participating in the learning process. Therefore, the application of metacognitive strategies supported by instructional video media is considered effective in improving the quality of Indonesian language learning and critical thinking skills of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 70 Banda Aceh

Abstract

Mahasiswa calon guru sering mengalami kesulitan dalam menyelaraskan tujuan pembelajaran, penilaian, dan kegiatan pembelajaran sehingga rancangan pembelajaran yang disusun cenderung tidak koheren. Penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran kerangka Understanding by Design (UbD) dalam mendukung pengembangan kompetensi didaktik mahasiswa calon guru. Penelitian melibatkan 26 mahasiswa calon guru (14 Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris dan 12 Pendidikan Matematika) yang mengikuti Program Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG) tahun 2025 di Banda Aceh. Data dikumpulkan melalui analisis rancangan pembelajaran, jurnal reflektif, dan wawancara, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan reflexive thematic analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebelum penerapan UbD, sebanyak 84,6% partisipan belum mampu mengaitkan tujuan pembelajaran, penilaian, dan kegiatan pembelajaran secara selaras, terutama karena penilaian masih dipahami sebatas jenis asesmen. Setelah penerapan UbD, rancangan pembelajaran menjadi lebih terarah dan selaras antara tujuan dan penilaian. Namun demikian, sebagian penilaian masih berada pada tingkat kognitif rendah dan belum mendukung keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa UbD efektif sebagai scaffold untuk membangun kompetensi didaktik dasar, tetapi perlu didukung penguatan literasi asesmen dalam pendidikan profesi guru. Pre-service teachers often struggle to align learning objectives, assessment, and instructional activities, resulting in fragmented lesson design. This qualitative study examines how the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework supports the development of didactic competence among 26 pre-service teachers (14 English and 12 Mathematics) enrolled in a 2025 professional teacher education (PPG) program in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Data were collected through lesson plan analysis, reflective journals, and interviews, and analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. Findings show that prior to UbD instruction, 84.6% of participants failed to coherently connect objectives, assessment, and learning activities, particularly conceptualizing assessment only in terms of types rather than evidence of learning. After applying UbD, lesson designs became more aligned, with clearer connections between goals and assessment. However, assessment tasks frequently remained at low cognitive levels, limiting opportunities for higher-order thinking. The study demonstrates that UbD effectively scaffolds foundational didactic competence by promoting alignment and reflective instructional reasoning, but does not automatically lead to higher-order assessment design. These findings highlight the importance of integrating UbD with explicit assessment literacy support in professional teacher education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan bahasa daerah dalam kehidupan sehari-hari siswa serta menganalisis pengaruhnya terhadap penggunaan bahasa Indonesia di SD Negeri 19 Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa dan guru di SD Negeri 19 Banda Aceh. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahasa daerah masih dominan digunakan oleh siswa dalam komunikasi sehari-hari, baik di lingkungan sekolah maupun di luar sekolah. Pengaruh bahasa daerah terhadap penggunaan bahasa Indonesia terlihat dari adanya pencampuran bahasa, penggunaan kosakata daerah dalam berbicara, serta kesalahan dalam pelafalan dan struktur kalimat bahasa Indonesia. Namun demikian, bahasa daerah juga memberikan dampak positif, seperti memperkaya kosakata dan memperkuat identitas budaya siswa. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk membiasakan penggunaan bahasa Indonesia secara efektif adalah melalui pembiasaan berbahasa Indonesia dalam kegiatan pembelajaran, pemberian contoh oleh guru, serta penerapan aturan berbahasa di lingkungan sekolah.

Abstract

Reading is one of the most essential language skills as it forms the foundation for mastering other language skills. Therefore, effective instructional techniques are needed to improve students’ speed reading ability. This study aimed to determine the effect of the skimming technique on the speed reading ability of fifth-grade students at SDN 4 Banda Aceh in short story material. This research employed a quantitative approach using an experimental method with a One Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The subjects of the study were 21 students. Data were collected through tests (pre-test and post-test) and observation sheets of teacher and student activities.The results showed that the mean score of the pre-test was 39.67 and increased to 81.29 in the post-test, with an improvement of 41.62 points. The Shapiro-Wilk normality test indicated that the data were normally distributed, with significance values of 0.086 for the pre-test and 0.078 for the post-test (> 0.05). The Paired Sample t-Test obtained a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a significant difference before and after the implementation of the skimming technique. Observation results also revealed improvements in students’ participation, focus, and reading fluency during the learning process. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of the skimming technique significantly improves the speed reading ability of fifth-grade students at SDN 4 Banda Aceh in short story material. It is recommended that teachers apply the skimming technique as an alternative reading strategy, students practice independently, and future researchers expand the study with larger samples and broader variables

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students’ learning outcomes in the IPAS subject for fifth-grade students at SDN 19 Banda Aceh. The background of this study is based on the low learning outcomes of students caused by teacher-centered learning methods, resulting in low student participation and engagement in the learning process. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design using the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population as well as the sample consisted of all 30 fifth-grade students of SDN 19 Banda Aceh. Data were collected through tests, namely pretest and posttest. The data were analyzed using normality test, N-Gain test, and hypothesis testing (paired sample t-test). The results showed that the data were normally distributed based on the Shapiro-Wilk test, with a significance value of 0.075 for the pretest and 0.082 for the posttest (>0.05). The N-Gain test result indicated an average score of 0.5474, which falls into the medium category, showing an improvement in students’ learning outcomes. Furthermore, the hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest results. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model has a significant effect on improving students’ learning outcomes in the IPAS subject for fifth-grade students at SDN 19 Banda Aceh

Abstract

Air Susu Ibu (ASI) eksklusif merupakan standar emas pemberian nutrisi bayi 0–6 bulan yang direkomendasikan WHO dan UNICEF, tetapi cakupan di Indonesia baru mencapai 55,5% (SKI 2023). Rendahnya cakupan ini berkontribusi pada masih tingginya Angka Kematian Bayi (AKB). Di Kabupaten Aceh Besar, AKB tercatat 25 per 1.000 kelahiran hidup (2023) antara lain disebabkan oleh rendahnya pengetahuan ibu hamil tentang ASI eksklusif. Studi pendahuluan di Puskesmas Krueng Barona Jaya menemukan kendala tradisi pemberian air gula, madu, dan pisang pada bayi serta minimnya dukungan informasi yang melemahkan niat menyusui eksklusif. Konseling prenatal pada trimester ketiga merupakan waktu strategis karena ibu lebih reseptif terhadap edukasi menjelang persalinan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh konseling prenatal terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan ibu hamil trimester III tentang ASI eksklusif di Puskesmas tersebut. Desain penelitian adalah kuasi-eksperimen dengan rancangan one group pretest-posttest. Dari 251 ibu hamil trimester III periode Januari–Maret 2025, dipilih 32 responden secara purposive sampling berdasarkan kriteria: usia kehamilan ≥28 minggu, memiliki buku KIA, bersedia mengikuti seluruh proses, dan berdomisili di wilayah kerja puskesmas. Pretest dan posttest dilaksanakan pada hari yang sama. Data dianalisis dengan uji Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test setelah uji normalitas Shapiro-Wilk menunjukkan distribusi tidak normal (p<0,05). Hasil menunjukkan rata-rata skor pretest 5,44 (kategori sedang, rentang 3–12) dan melonjak signifikan menjadi 11,97 pada posttest; seluruh responden (100%) mencapai kategori baik. Integrasi konseling ini dalam pelayanan antenatal terpadu beserta pelibatan keluarga sangat direkomendasikan guna memperkuat praktik menyusui eksklusif dan menekan AKB di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Krueng Barona Jaya.
