Abstract

Objective – This study aims to analyze the existing challenges and potentials and to formulate an effective human resource (HR) development strategy to enhance BUMDes performance. Design/Methodology/Approach – This research adopts a qualitative approach through observation, in-depth interviews, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) involving village heads and BUMDes directors as primary respondents. Data were analyzed by comparing the results of a self-perception survey (Likert-scale questionnaire) with qualitative insights derived from interviews and discussions, to identify the convergence and divergence between perceived competence and actual performance in the field. Findings – The study reveals a significant gap between managerial self-perception and real-world implementation. While BUMDes managers perceive themselves as visionary, innovative, and entrepreneurial, their actual operations remain constrained by limited managerial skills, weak governance structures, insufficient digital literacy, and political interference in decision-making. Furthermore, BUMDes units tend to run conventional businesses with minimal innovation and limited collaboration. Despite these barriers, visionary and collaborative leadership—characterized by proactivity, community engagement, and a strong social orientation—emerged as the most influential factor in improving BUMDes performance and sustainability. Implications – This research recommends a comprehensive HR development framework integrating continuous capacity building, field-based technical mentoring, the establishment of clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), transparent financial reporting systems, and strategic collaboration among local governments, universities, and the private sector. Consistent implementation of these strategies is expected to accelerate the transformation of BUMDes in Pulang Pisau Regency into independent, innovative, and competitive rural economic enterprises

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how work-life balance influences employee productivity in micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) engaged in the rattan weaving industry in Palangka Raya City, with workplace creativity serving as a mediating variable. This research is motivated by the importance of work-life balance in supporting employee creativity and productivity within the creative MSME sector. Questionnaires were distributed to 39 respondents working in five MSMEs operating in the rattan weaving industry in Palangka Raya City to collect data using a quantitative research approach. With the assistance of SmartPLS software, the SEM-PLS method was employed to analyze the data. The findings indicate that work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on employee creativity and productivity. In addition, workplace creativity also has a positive and significant effect on work productivity. However, workplace creativity does not act as a mediating variable in the relationship between work-life balance and work productivity. These findings demonstrate that work-life balance plays a significant role in improving employee productivity in the rattan weaving craft industry in Palangka Raya City.

Abstract

Abstract

The manufacturing industry is a major source of global energy consumption and carbon emissions, facing increasing pressure to reduce environmental impacts while maintaining operational competitiveness. This systematic literature review (SLR) aims to map how Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) practices affect sustainable performance through psychological mechanisms in high-pollution industries, identify mediating and moderating mechanisms, and propose a future research agenda. Following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, a systematic search was conducted across Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and ProQuest for articles published between 2015 and 2025. Bibliometric analysis and thematic synthesis were applied to evaluate 42 relevant empirical studies. The findings reveal that GHRM positively influences green employee behavior and organizational sustainability through critical psychological mediators, such as green psychological climate and environmental commitment. This review synthesizes these insights into an integrated AMO-Dynamic Capabilities framework and outlines pathways for future longitudinal, multi-level investigations.
