Abstract

Street vendors are a number of people who carry out trading activities both production and sale of goods or services in strategic and crowded places in urban areas with relatively small capital capabilities and try to make ends meet. The study aims to determine how the existence of street vendors as an informal sector, how much the contribution of household income and the benefits received by traders to the fulfillment of Decent Living Needs. The method used is descriptive qualitative through interviews guided by a list of questions to 50 traders as a sample along Kyai Wasyid Street and Kranggot Market Street Cilegon. The results showed that 52% of traders sell on the sidewalk, 20% on the road, 22% in the parking lot or shopfront, 6% in the yard. Merchandise in the form of ready-to-eat cooked food 42%, unprocessed food 24%, non-food products 26%, and 8% services. The income received by traders each month is linked to the Decent Living Needs which 66% of traders have met, 34% have not met due to the number of family dependents, between four and five people. Of the 20 pedestrian and motor vehicle respondents on the pedestrian path, 35% stated that they were disturbed, 45% were not disturbed and 20% were slightly disturbed by the activities of traders. Thus, it is necessary to control and direct street vendors by the City Planning Office so that they do not use roads and sidewalks for selling, provide parking facilities and trash bins and area solutions for street vendors to maintain the beauty and comfort of Cilegon City

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between seat acquisition probabilities and the acquisition of minor party seats in the 2019 Surabaya City DPRD election. This research is crucial because theoretically the proportional representation electoral system quota/allocation of electoral district seats (dapil) has the probability to be accessed by all parties participating in the election, but in fact in the 2019 Surabaya City DPRD election the quota/allocation of seats was dominated by large parties. This research method is library research with the analysis technique using the Pearson Product Moment statistical test. According to the research results, first, the relationship between seat acquisition probability and minor party seat acquisition is negative and insignificant. The results of the research hypothesis test show rcount (-0.753) < rtable (0.997). Second, the relationship between these two variables controlled by the threshold variable is significantly positive. The research hypothesis test result is rcount (0.000) > rtable (0.997). Based on this research: (1) the electoral system of proportional representation quota/allocation of electoral district seats is not accessible to all minor parties participating in the election; (2) the size of electoral districts with seat quotas in the medium-large criteria does not have a significant positive effect on the acquisition of seats of parties participating in the election; (3) the threshold simultaneously affects the significant positive relationship between the size of the medium-large quota electoral districts and the acquisition of seats of parties participating in the election; and (4) the acquisition of party votes below the lower threshold still has the probability to get the remaining seats.

Abstract

The rise of TikTok as one of the most popular social media platforms and its significant influence on Gen Z has attracted the attention of many parties. However, the impact of TikTok on gender norms, lifestyles, and cultural shifts among Generation Z is still limited, especially in a local context. This article, on the other hand, will explore these issues within the context of East Java. As an exploratory study, this research employs a qualitative approach, involving 20 female students (Gen Z) as participants. Data were collected through unstructured group interviews in four cities in East Java (Surabaya, Malang, Jember, and Mojokerto) and focus group discussions (FGD). The results of this study indicate that TikTok, on one hand, still reinforces conventional gender norms, particularly through video content focused on beauty. However, in terms of lifestyle, TikTok has become a mirror for many members of Generation Z, the majority of whom adhere to Islamic teachings, even among millennial religious figures. TikTok significantly influences Generation Z's lifestyle preferences and acts as a medium for cultural change. It serves as a social and cultural agent, impacting individuals and broader social structures.

Abstract

Handling the issue of stunting is one of the national strategic issues in Indonesia. The stunting rate in Kabupaten Garut in 2023rd was 21.3%, with a target reduction to below 14%. In 2018th Desa Sukarasa was categorized as one of the 20 villages with the highest stunting rates, referred to as stunting focus locations. However, in 2022nd Desa Sukarasa successfully exited the status of a stunting focus location because of efforts the Pemberdayaan dan Kesejaheraan Keluarga (PKK) Cadres in utilizing interaction and collaboration with their social networks as a component of bridging social capital. This study examines the interactions, which consist of information exchange, communication media, and cooperation and collaborations established by the PKK Cadres with their social networks. This research employs a qualitative method, with data collection through in-depth interviews, focus group discussion (FGD), and documentation studies. The results show that the interaction between the PKK Cadres and their social networks involves exchanging information about stunting, using direct communication media, and leveraging technological advancements. Additionally, cooperation and collaboration have been established to organize programs and activities to reduce the percentage of stunting in Desa Sukarasa. The outcomes of these interactions and collaborations include increased knowledge and expand access to asset ownership for the PKK, which successfully removed Desa Sukarasa from the stunting focus locations status. However, in terms of networking capabilities, the PKK Cadres have not fully maximized building social networks outside the government's health sector
