Abstract

While acknowledging the importance of training, the challenge lies in understanding and optimizing its effectiveness, especially in the context of the government institution’s ever-changing landscape and the associated budgetary considerations. It examines whether pre-training factors—organizational support, training environment, trainer quality, and training need analysis— influence training effectiveness directly or are mediated by motivation to learn, motivation to transfer, and self-efficacy in non-ministerial government institutions in Indonesia. Data were collected from 202 respondents across 19 institutions using purposive sampling and analyzed with Covariance Based-Structural Equation Modeling (CB-SEM) using Lisrel 8.80. The findings reveal that trainer quality significantly affects motivation to learn, motivation to transfer, and self-efficacy but does not directly impact training effectiveness. Instead, its influence is mediated by motivation to transfer and self-efficacy. This underscores the crucial role of trainers in enhancing training effectiveness by boosting participants' motivation and self-efficacy. The study highlights the need for organizations to invest in high-quality trainers through ongoing professional development, robust evaluation systems, and incentives to improve training outcomes and achieve organizational goals more efficiently.

Abstract

Deviant workplace behavior is not something unusual and is prevalent in organizational dynamics. It is found in all types of organizations and in all levels of positions. This deviance is costly not only in financial, but also in social and psychological terms. This research aims to reveal whether there is any association between organizational justice perception and engagement in deviant workplace behavior since so many scholars argue that organizational injustice can serve as one of the causes to workplace deviance. Three forms of organizational justice are used in this research; they are: distributive, procedural, and interactional justice. Additionally, two dimensions are used to classify deviant workplace behavior, which are severity and target. Putting these two dimensions into low-high continuum, it helps to develop a typology of deviant workplace behavior into four classifications: production, political, property, and personal aggression. Result findings show us that organizational justice perception play important role in the occurrence of deviant workplace behavior. However, it is not the sole predictor since only one deviant workplace behavior (out of twelve) which correlates significantly with one form of organizational justice.

Abstract

Abstract

Love is never considered as a transformative force. Love is generally perceived merely as an affective-emotional thing and personal relationship. Love does not have any practical implication in transforming society. Through Alain Badiou’s theory of love, it can be demonstrated that love has the power to impact the world. According to Badiou, philosophy is a truth procedure that is always occurring in the arena. Politics, science, art, and love are the arenas in which philosophy operates. Thus, it is possible to talk about love philosophically. Philosophy aims to change the world since love is one of the arenas where philosophy operates. Based on the descriptive analysis method in interpreting Alain Badiou’s works; Being and Event and In Praise of Love, it implies that love can generate a transformative action. The case of miscegenation marriage between Mildred Jetter, an African-Indigenous American, and Richard Loving, a white male, during the civil rights movement in the US, can illustrate the role of love in transforming the world. Alain Badiou’s theory of love explains that love can transcend personal dimensions, and it is not purely a romantic feeling and personal relationship but also a transformative force. Thus, this study brings a new perspective on love theoretically and practically because love is not merely an emotion but also a force for change with social dimensions in practicality.

Abstract

In recent years, many doctors and other healthcare workers choose to work in the aesthetic beauty industry. Based on data from Statista, the beauty and body care market in Indonesia in 2021 will reach 7.46 billion USD and is expected to grow to increase to 7.25% in 2023. Therefore, it is important to identify the factors that can influence healthcare workers can work in a beauty clinic. This study used a quantitative research method by distributing questionnaires using a 5-point Likert scale. Using the SEM (Structural Equation Modelling) technique, a sample of 237 healthcare workers who worked in beauty clinics was obtained. The findings showed that HR management practices and working atmosphere positively and significantly affect job satisfaction and ultimately increase their intention to stay. Thus, job satisfaction plays a role in mediating the effect of human resource management practices on the intention to stay. This study implies that healthcare organizations should pay more attention to human resource management practices and working atmosphere to increase the job satisfaction of healthcare workers thereby influencing the intention to stay. In addition, HR management practices and an efficient work environment can improve the quality of health services and minimize treatment errors.

Abstract

Numerous studies seek to comprehend the emergences and processes of job performance, but they overlook the input of performance, which is effort. This research is not only headed in that direction, but also concentrates on exploring and analyzing the variables of job demand and work-family balance in relation to burnout and how it affects Goride Driver from Gojek's work effort. This research involved 229 Goride drivers from Gojek in Jabodetabek area. Covariance Based Structural Equation Modeling (CB-SEM) was used to examine the data received from a 6-point Likert scale online survey. This study found that job demand negatively associated with work-family balance, but associated positively to burnout. Work-family associated positively with effort. Job demand and burnout associated negatively with effort. Burnout does not mediate the relationship of job demand and work-family balance to effort. This finding provides an explanation for variables such as job demands, work-family balance, burnout, and effort, and how they interact in the gig economy among gig workers such as the Goride driver.

Abstract

The phenomenon of workplace romance is an integral part of organisational dynamics. Workplace romance might result in both positive and negative effect. The negative side of workplace romance bears the phenomenon of workplace affair, in which workers engage in extra-marital relations with each other. This research aims to test whether past behaviour, conscientiousness personality, which a part of big five model personality traits and attitude have an impact on the likelihood of employee’s engagement in the workplace affair. As many as 250 workers in Greater Jakarta participated in the survey with minimum tenure six months as criteria of sampling. The analysis of data is performed using structural equation modelling (SEM) process. The result indicates that workers who have workplace romance engagement in their past behaviour would affect the attitude of perceiving workplace romance. The attitude itself plays as a mediator between past behaviour and the engagement of workplace affair. At the same time, personality determinant does not give any significant effect on attitude and engagement in workplace affair. To mitigate the issue of workplace affair, the organisation needs to perform background checking prior accepting the employees since the past behaviour of engagement in workplace romance is the reliable indicator of future likelihood in workplace affair engagement. While the previous research studies about the effect of workplace romance, this study emphasize deeper into the findings from the workplace affair perspectives, which is the negative effect of workplace romance.

Abstract

Employing the framework of the Expectation Confirmation Model within the Indonesian public sector context. This research endeavoured to explore the impact of satisfaction, self-efficacy, perceived usefulness, enjoyment, and confirmation on the continuance intention of information systems. The study engaged 436 employees from the Indonesian State Revenue Organization as participants. Utilizing a 7-point Likert scale, online surveys were administered to collect data, subsequently subjected to analysis employing Lisrel 8.8 and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The results suggested that self-efficacy and confirmation were strong predictors of perceived usefulness. There existed a strong and positive association between confirmation and satisfaction, perceived usefulness and satisfaction as well as enjoyment and satisfaction. Satisfaction acted as a partial mediation variable between perceived usefulness and continuance intention as well as between enjoyment and continuance intention. Hereafter, the relationship between self-efficacy and continuance intention was influenced by perceived usefulness as the indirect-only mediator. In addition, the relationship between confirmation and continuance intention was influenced by satisfaction as the indirect-only mediator. Ultimately, the continuance intention in information systems was strongly associated with satisfaction, enjoyment,  and perceived usefulness

Abstract

Workers in the health industry are more likely having a higher level of stress compare to other professions in other sectors. Work stress impacts adverse consequences such as fatigue, absenteeism, turnover, customer dissatisfaction, and for health professionals, in particular, it will lead to incorrect diagnosis and curative action. The study aims to identify the source of stress in the hospital among three divisions; medical professional, medical support, and general support as a case study to 181 employees at a hospital in Depok city. Job stress survey (JSS) is selected to measure employee work stress based on three indicators: job stress, job pressure, and lack of organisational support. Job stress survey maps the severity of stress, the frequency of stress, and the index of stress for all those three indicators. The research design is quantitative and uses analysis of variance (ANOVA) to test the different level of stress among three divisions. The result indicates the level of stress is different among three divisions based on stress severity. However, the difference is insignificant on stress frequency and stress index on two indicators namely job pressure and lack of organisational support. Among three divisions, professional medical workers experience the highest level of stress. The implication of the research is discussed.

Abstract

Women are under-represented in top management positions, with their participation declining as positions increase. This study investigates the role of the 'glass ceiling' in contributing to the deficit of female leadership in Indonesia. This study adopted a qualitative methodology using a phenomenological approach. The research data was collected using semi-structured, in-depth interviews. The data were analysed using four stages of coding: open coding, axial coding, selective coding, and process coding. The findings show that the glass ceiling phenomenon results from several barriers faced by female employees. These barriers are categorised into five types: situational/organisational, social role, person-centred, interactional, and human capital. In conclusion, women workers in Indonesia face invisible barriers in various situations. These include organisational and socio-cultural factors as well as gender issues. This phenomenon creates a glass ceiling which prevents the advancement of women into leadership roles, leading to a deficit of female leaders in Indonesia
