Abstract

The aims of this study was to determine the optimal litter size which produce from the mating system and the sow parity by noticing the litter size born alive, the age of weaning, litter size at weaning, mortality during the suckling period and litter size at weaning percentage. Fourty one farrowing and weaned sows are used in this research. The first factor is the mating system, included artificial insemination and natural service. The second factor is the parity of the sow (1 up to 5). The data collected were litter size born alive, the age of the weaning, the weaned litter size, mortality of the suckling period and litter size at weaning percentage.The result showed that the mating system had significant effect (P0.05) on the age of the weaning, the litter size at weaning, mortality during the sucling period and litter size at weaning percentage. The parity had significantly effect (P0.05) on the litter size born alive, mortality during the sucling period and litter size at weaning percentage. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to test and evaluate feed intake, average daily gain and feed conversion ratio of male and female broilers with a separate maintenance treatment (sexing) in semi-closed house cages. The study was conducted at Joni Farm, Tegineneng Subdistrict, Pesawaran District. The type of research used was experimental research comparing the performance of male and female broilers that were kept separately (sexing) at the age of 12 days to 30 days. Experimental broilers used during research were 94 male and 94 female Lohmann. The variables observed in this study were male and female broiler on feed intake, average daily gain (ADG) and Feed Convertion Ratio (FCR). Based on the results of statistical analysis showed sexing has a significant effect on ADG and FCR. Sexing had no effect on feed intake. The average feed intake of male broiler chicken feed was 128.12 grams, while the consumption of female broiler was 120.00 grams. Average daily gain (ADG) of male broiler was higher than female broiler , ADG male broiler were 75.61 grams, while ADG female broiler were 66.28 grams. Abstract

This research aims to find out the marketing value chain of duck egg in the central farm of duck in Gadingrejo District, Pringsewu Regency, Lampung. The result showed that the highest increase in value added occurs in the farmer because the farmer carry out processing in addition to selling in the form of consumption eggs processing into processed eggs or breeding. Abstract

In vitro culture is one of important method generally used for improving agronomic traits in Artemisia annua such as enhancing artemisinin. However, the method has main inhibitor factor which often involved in early micropropagation stage, that is contamination. This research aimed to find the most effective sterilization procedure for diminishing the contamination rate of Artemisia annua shoot explant, without causing high mortality rate.sterilization procedure treatment in this research used 8 type of sterilant i.e. etanol, HgCl2, Bayclin®, Mama Lime®, SOS®, Ligent®, Sunlight®, dan Carex®. This research used completely randomized design with 25 treatments. Each treatment replicated 3 times, each 20 bottle/replication. The observation comprised total contamination rate, bacteria contamination rate, mold contamination rate, and mortality rate. The research result showed that sterilization step with Carex® mixed with SOS® in 30 seconds which continue with HgCl2 in 7 minutes is the most optimal sterilization procedure to diminish the contaminant of shoot explant without enhance the mortality rate.

Abstract

Penggunaan koagulan lateks yang tepat mampu menghasilkan karet bermutu baik. Namun, jaminan ketersediaan dan harga koagulan lateks anjuran menyebabkan petani karet beralih menggunakan koagulan non-anjuran. Penelitian ini mempelajari tentang mutu karet yang digumpalkan dengan koaglan anjuran asam format dan koagulan non-anjuran asam sulfat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bobot basah koagulum asam format lebih berat dibandingkan bobot basah koagulum asam sulfat, meskipun waktu koagulasi dengan menggunakan asam sulfat lebih cepat dibandingkan waktu koagulasi dengan bahan penggumpal asam format. Mutu karet yang dihasilkan oleh penggumpalan asam format berdasarkan parameter kadar karet kering, kadar abu dan kadar zat menguapnya lebih baik dibandingkan dengan mutu karet yang digumpalkan menggunakan asam sulfat.

Abstract

Garlic has a bitter taste, which makes people reluctant to eat one whole garlic clove. The salt soaking technique used to reduce the bitter taste of the garlic, and the garlic processed into wet candied garlic, so it became more edible than not process. The process of candied garlic could preserve the durability level, which allows it to be stored longer at low temperatures. The research materials used were salt and sugar. The purpose of the research was to know the effect of salt concentration on reducing bitterness and the right concentration to reduce the bitter taste of garlic. This research used the RAK method, and DMRT (Duncan’s Multiple Range Test), and the samples of salt were 3%; 3.5%; 4%; 4.5%. The test included chemical tests (water content and total microbes) and organoleptic tests (taste, aroma, and texture). The water content of the product showed the result, which was not significantly different, and the total microbes test showed no microorganism was found or grew on the product. The organoleptic test of taste was obtained on 3.5% salt, with an average of 2.75% (likes), while the aroma and texture did not show a significant difference in the result. The aroma and texture data obtained on 2.90 (likes) and 2.40 (likes) with 3.5% salt. Keywords: Candied; Garlic; Salt; Soaking; Sugar.

Abstract

Petunia (P. inflata) is one of the most commonly cultivated ornamental plants because it has different flower sizes, and is easier to grow at various media and temperatures. Indonesia is one of the exporting Countries for Petunia hybrid seed. As one of the countries that provide hybrid seeds, the problem that often faced when making pollination is the availability of pollen with high viability because pollen viability can decrease/disappear within a specified period. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of temperature and storage period on the viability of Petunia pollen and determine the best temperature and storage period to keep Petunia pollen. The design of this study uses a Randomized Block Design with Split Plot Design. The main plot consists of a storage period for seven days, 14 days, 21 days, and 28 days. The sup plots include storage temperature treatment at room temperature, 5˚C, -5˚C, and -15˚C, there repeated for three times. Data analysis using Analysis of Variant (ANOVA) and further testing using 5% Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The observed parameter consisted of the germination energy of pollen, pollen tube length, and colored pollen. The results showed that the lower temperatures could keep pollen viability for longer. The longer pollen stored, the viability will decrease further -15°C storage temperature can maintain pollen viability high up to 28 days of storage.

Abstract

Flavonoid compound is an important compound of tea products. However, the flavonoid level content in black tea is lowest than other teas. This is due to the processing of black tea which has an enzymatic oxidation stage and  the tea age leaves when picking. Young tea leaves contain higher total flavonoids than old tea leaves. With an average level of total flavonoids, the young tea leaves is 27.76% qe w / w, while for the old tea leaves 18.61% qe w / w. However, the enzymatic oxidation time treatment did not affect the total flavonoids because the process only affected the quality of black tea steeping, on it’s colour, aroma, and taste. Keywords: age of tea leaves, black tea, enzymatic oxidation, total flavonoids

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of treatment concentrations (4%; 8%; 10%; 13%; 16%; 20%) of Bacillus subtilis bacterial isolates on the production of pectinase enzymes from pineapple peel waste, and the characteristics of the pectinase enzyme produced include (enzyme activity, optimum temperature, optimum pH, Km and Vmax values). The yield of crude enzyme extract production from the 6 treatments carried out, the highest yield was found in the 10% treatment at 1.59 g and the lowest in the 4% treatment at 1.53 g. In the results of enzyme characterization, the highest enzyme activity was found at a concentration of 20% at 1.883, and the pectinase enzyme produced was able to work optimally in environmental conditions with a temperature of 400C and pH 4 at all concentrations, but the highest activity at variations in temperature and pH was on enzymes with 20% bacterial concentration treatment, namely 0.680 at 400C and 0.650 at pH 4. Enzyme kinetics analysis obtained from the pectinase enzyme produced, showed the highest Km value of 0.021 at a concentration of 4% while the lowest value is 0.0095 at a concentration of 20%. Then at the Vmax value of the enzyme, the highest value was found at the 20% concentration treatment and the lowest value was at 4% treatment was 0.481.Keywords: Bacillus subtilis, Characterization, Enzyme Production, PektinaseEnzyme

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Oktober sampai November 2019 di Program Studi Penyuluhan Peternakan dan Kesejahteraan Hewan, Politeknik Pembangunan Pertanian Manokwari. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penambahan nanoenkapsulasi minyak buah merah pada air minum dengan (P0:kontrol; P1:ekstrak minyak buah merah 2,5%; P2:nanoenkapsulasi minyak buah merah 2,5%; P3:nanoenkapsulasi minyak buah merah 5% dan P4:nanoenkapsulasi minyak buah merah 10%) untuk meningkatkan Income OverFeed Cost dan performa pada ayam kampung. Metode yang digunakan yaitu analisis diskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC) tertinggi terdapat pada ayam dengan penambahan nanoenkapsulasi buah merah 5% (P2) yaitu Rp. 826.322,40 dan terendah pada ayam dengan penambahan ekstrak minyak buah merah 2,5% yaitu Rp. 578.900,95. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan nanoenkapsulasi buah merah 2,5% (P2) dapat meningkatkan IOFC sebesar 42,73% lebih tinggi dari IOFC paling rendah yaitu penambahan ekstrak minyak buah merah 2,5% (P1) dan 27,03% lebih tinggi dari kontrol (P0).
