Abstract

Abstract

Tapioca is a natural polymer that is widely used as a raw material for hydrogels. In order to improve the mechanical properties of tapioca-based hydrogels, this research modified tapioca by acid hydrolysis method for 2 hours and 24 hours and by ethanol precipitation method. This modified tapioca was further treated with epichlorohydrin with various concentrations of 0, 5, 10, and 20% to produce a three-dimensional cross-linked structure. The results showed that the increasing of epichlorohydrin concentration led to an increasing in the mechanical properties of the hydrogels consisting of hardness, stress, modulus of elasticity, and cross-linked density. The hydrogel from tapioca hydrolyzed for 24 hours and 20% epichlorohydrin was the sample with the best mechanical properties with a hardness of 19.78 mJ, a stress of 78.65 kPa, a modulus of elasticity of 233.84 mJ, and a cross-linked density of 57.61 × 1024 m-3.

Abstract

The Super Water Absorbent (SWA) polymer is a type of polymer that has exceptional water absorption capabilities while remaining insoluble in water. In this study, the authors conducted research on the modification of SWA by including acrylic acid and acrylamide monomers, followed by a crosslinking process utilising gamma irradiation. This study investigated the impact of acrylic acid and gamma irradiation on the mechanical characteristics of SWA. The experimental findings demonstrated a notable enhancement in the mechanical properties of the hydrogel by the incorporation of acrylic acid. This was evidenced by a substantial rise in the hardness value, which rose from 11.09 mJ to 36.13 mJ.

Abstract

The lithium ion battery is a type of secondary battery. A good component to be used as the anode of a lithium ion battery is Li4Ti5O12 (LTO). LTO has a low conductivity value so doping is necessary. Doping particle size greatly affects the conductivity of LTO. The purpose of this doping was carried out to find out how the effect of CaO nanoparticle doping on the conductivity value of the LTO battery anode using the coprecipitation method by varying the molarity of NaOH, namely 1M, 3M and 7M. Based on the results of research on the influence of NaOH molarity, it produces different sizes of nanoparticles. The smallest nanoparticle size was obtained in the 3M sample variation, which was 175.0 nm. With a purity of CaO nanoparticles of 96.35%. While the conductivity value of the lithium ion battery doped with CaO nanoparticles with three variations of NaOH molarity, the optimum value was obtained in the 1M sample, which was 1.06 × 10-6 S/cm. This is because the 1M variation produces very low impurities compared to the 3M and 7M variations which have more impurities, this can affect the conductivity value.

Abstract

Abstract

The household-scale microgreen urban farming program was implemented in Lubuk Kelik Village, Bangka Regency, as a community empowerment initiative to improve family income and prevent stunting. This program was designed to utilize limited household land through the cultivation of microgreens, which are easy to grow, have a short harvesting period, and provide high nutritional value. The implementation methods included socialization, technical training, cultivation practices, mentoring, and evaluation of outcomes. The results showed an increase in participants’ knowledge and skills in managing microgreens independently. Some participants consumed the harvest to improve family nutrition, while others began marketing the products within their neighborhood, contributing to additional household income. This program has proven to support the availability of affordable nutritious vegetables while also strengthening community awareness of stunting prevention. Therefore, microgreen urban farming has the potential to become an applicable and sustainable model for community empowerment.
