Abstract

This paper has three objectives: To describe the strategies used by the content creator, to explain about the tutorial of the heroes, to explain the strategy mostly applied in the tutorial videos of the heroes and to analyze the accuracy of the translation. The data is Mobile Legends’ video tutorial. After analyzing the data, there are 54 translation strategies in the data. The researchers analyze the data by using Malone’s framework (1998) about translation strategy. There are 5 strategies found in the data. The strategy most applied in the data is divergence with 29 times or 55.5%. It happened because mostly the caption translated by using dictionary meaning. Here, the translation applies the divergence since the meaning of the word range is based on dictionary. The accurate level becomes the highest level with average of 50 data or 93.6 %. It happens because most of the raters agree that the translator can deliver the meaning and the context well. The second rank is the inaccurate level with 3 data or 5.5%. Abstract

This paper has explored the form, the meaning, and the function of the contraction AIN’T, with the corpus data retrieved from English-affiliated URLs or Websites (web-data), through interpretive techniques and a coding analysis. The utterance AIN’T belongs to non-standard or informal English, which represents or is derived from the forms AM NOT, IS NOT, ARE NOT, HAS NOT, HAVE NOT, DO NOT, DOES NOT, DID NOT, and the others. The meaning of AIN’T implies different aspects, i.e. informality, topic area, low social class, emphasis, and content. The utterance AIN’T is part of close language, or is used for close people for friendship or camaraderie. AIN’T belongs to informal utterances, as it is incomplete, shorter, cut-down (or contracted) from other forms. The utterance AIN’T should be taught academically in classrooms or other teaching and learning encounters as informal language with its various derived constructions, and students or learners should be made aware that AIN’T is part of close language which is used to close people for friendship or camaraderie within interpersonal or social context. Use of AIN’T to not close people or superiors or others in a formal situation may lead to a rude situation, and a probable disharmony entails.        Keywords: pragmatics; politeness; camaraderie; informal English; AIN’T.

Abstract

Despite their consideration as impolite remarks in communication, swearwords play an inseparable part from linguistics repertoire. As defined by Aijmer (2002:12), swearwords “[express] the speaker’s attitude towards the situation spoken about, his assumptions, his intentions, his emotions”. Carrying ‘negative’ label makes swearwords the centre of attention. Interestingly, movies that have turned into public entertainment sphere blooms the use of swearwords. The statement is supported by Azzaro (2005:1) who states that “television is often blamed for the circulation of once forbidden expression, and films in particular get the blame.” To add fuel to the fire, Cressman et al (2009) has also noted a rising frequency of swearwords usages in Hollywood movies. With the increasing number of Hollywood movies in Indonesia, English swearwords phenomena cannot be neglected. However, deleting or even softening swearwords will put the artistic touch of cinematography at stake. In this context, translators, especially subtitle translators, play an important role in dealing with swearwords phenomenon. As to introduce translation students to this complex matter, the writer gave them a subtitling task of swearwords. Twenty students consisting of twelve males and eight females were involved in this project and ‘8 Miles’ movie was used as the translation task. Surprisingly, both male and female students did not try to soften or delete the use of swearwords. Most of the English swearwords were adopted into Indonesian swearwords.

Abstract

Abstract. This research is entitled “Subtitling Strategies of Po’s Utterances in Kung Fu Panda Movie”. The aim of this research is to find out the subtitling strategies of Po’s Utterances in Kung Fu Panda Movie. This research used descriptive qualitative method to describe then analyze the subtitling strategies of Po’s utterances in Kung Fu Panda movie. The steps of analyzing data are: collecting the data, identifying the data, classifying the data, analyzing the data, and the last step is drawing the conclusion. Transfer strategy has the most frequency in Po’s utterances in Kung Fu Panda movie, the percentage reaching 53,91% over half of Po’s utterances. Transfer strategy is translated more easily because this strategy translating the source language completely and accurately into the target language. So it is easy to make the audience understand from the source language to the target language with the original meaning from this movie. Meanwhile, transcription has the least frequency in Po’s utterances, the percentage is 2,90%. Transcription strategy is found rarely because this strategy is used to translate a language when there exist unusual term in the source language (SL), like nonsense language and third language. So it is difficult to find out transcription strategy in Kung Fu Panda movie.Keywords: Subtitling Strategies, Transcription, Transfer, UtterancesAbstrak.  Penelitian ini berjudul “Strategi Penerjemahan pada Ujaran Po sebagai tokoh utama di Film “Kung Fu Panda” dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui strategi penerjemahan ujaran Po di film Kung Fu Panda. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk menjelaskan dan menganalisis strategi penerjemahan ujaran Po di film “Kung Fu Panda”. Tahapan-tahapan analisis adalah : mengumpulkan data,  mengidentifikasi data,  mengelompokkan data, menganalisis data, dan tahap terakhir adalah mengambil kesimpulan. Strategi transfer memiliki frekuensi paling tinggi dalam ujaran Po di film Kung Fu Panda, dengan persentase mencapai 53,91% lebih dari setengah ujaran Po. Strategi transfer merupakan strategi yang lebih mudah digunakan karena strategi ini menerjemahkan bahasa sumber secara lengkap dan akurat ke dalam bahasa sasaran. Jadi lebih mudah untuk membuat penonton mengerti bahasa sumber ke bahasa target melalui makna asli dari film tersebut. Sementara, transkripsi memiliki frekuensi terendah dalam ujaran Po, persentasenya 2,90%. Strategi transkripsi jarang ditemukan karena strategi ini digunakan untuk menerjemahkan bahasa ketika ada istilah yang tidak biasa dalam bahasa sumber (BS), seperti kata-kata yang tidak bermakna atau bahasa lain. Dengan demikian strategi transkripsi tidak banyak ditemukan dalam film “Kung Fu Panda” ini.Kata kunci: strategi penerjemahan, transkripsi, transfer, ujaran

Abstract

 Pengabdian kepada masyarakat dengan judul “Maksimalisasi Pelayanan Prima Melalui Pelatihan Bahasa Asing Praktis Bagi Serikat Pekerja Pariwisata Borobudur di Desa Kajoran Magelang” ini mengambil khalayak sasaran anggota serikat pekerja pariwisata Borobudur Magelang yang berusaha untuk mengembangkan dan menghidupkan kembali geliat pariwisata setelah masa pandemi covid 19. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah metode latihan atau drill yaitu suatu metode penyampaian materi pelatihan atau informasi melalui bentuk latihan-latihan. Adapun hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berupa berupa peningkatan pengetahuan dan kemampuan para peserta pelatihan dalam hal pelayanan prima terhadap para wisatawan asing yang menginap serta meningkatnya kemampuan berbahasa Inggris dan Jepang dasar yang sering dipergunakan dalam melayani wisatawan asing.

Abstract

Tempur sebagai salah satu desa di kecamatan Keling yang berbatasan dengan desa Kunir dan Damarwulan di sebelah utara, kota Kudus di sebelah selatan, di sebelah barat berbatasan dengan desa Sumanding dan Dudakawu serta berbatasan dengan kabupaten Pati di sebelah timur, selain memiliki panorama yang indah juga merupakan desa yang memiliki tempat-tempat yang sangat layak untuk dijadikan destinasi wisata bagi para wisatawan baik dalam maupun luar negeri. Di antaranya yaitu Candi Angin, Candi Bubrah, Sumur Batu, Kaldera Gunung Muria, Kolam Nawangwulan, Kolam Pemancingan Tempoera, Taman Hias, Bumi Perkemahan dan Wisata Kebun Kopi. Dengan adanya tempat-tempat yang sangat layak untuk dijadikan destinasi wisata tersebut tentu saja diperlukan kemampuan di kalangan anggota masyarakat wilayah desa Tempur untuk mampu mengelola dengan baik sehingga nantinya dapat meningkatkan jumlah wisatawan yang berkunjung ke desa Tempur. Untuk itu diperlukan kegiatan pendampingan yang dapat membantu kelompok masyarakat desa Tempur meningkatkan profesionalitas mereka dalam meningkatkan kemampuan kepariwisataan dan mengelola daerahnya. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan profesionalitas masyarakat desa Tempur kecamatan Keling Jepara dengan cara memberikan pendampingan, pembimbingan dan pelatihan dalam berbagai bidang kepariwisataan khususnya pelatihan dan pengenalan Bahasa dan budaya asing.

Abstract

Di era digital, keterampilan komunikasi visual menjadi semakin penting. Program Kemitraan Masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi visual dan imajinasi siswa-siswi SMK Negeri 4 Semarang melalui workshop sinematografi. Menggunakan metode pendekatan partisipatif, workshop dilaksanakan pada 27 Juni 2024 selama 4 jam di Ruang Aula Utama sekolah, diikuti oleh 30 siswa-siswi kelas XI dan XII jurusan Multimedia. Kegiatan mencakup aspek teoretis dan praktis sinematografi, termasuk pengenalan dasar, teknik pengambilan gambar, pengembangan imajinasi, tahapan produksi film, dan pengenalan software editing. Peserta terlibat aktif dalam pembelajaran praktik langsung pembuatan film pendek. Evaluasi program dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan forum diskusi. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman konsep-konsep dasar sinematografi seperti komposisi gambar, pencahayaan, dan penyuntingan video. Siswa-siswi juga mampu membuat film pendek menggunakan teknik-teknik yang dipelajari. Workshop ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi visual dan dapat menjadi model pembelajaran bagi sekolah-sekolah lain yang ingin mengembangkan keterampilan serupa pada siswa-siswinya.

Abstract

Competence of writing scientific articles is a requirement for teachers to apply for promotion. Lack of time to write scientific papers and the inability to express ideas in writing are obstacles for teachers in writing scientific papers. For those reasons, the program delivered by Community service of Dian Nuswantoro universe encourages and motivates teachers of the Dewantara teachers’ working group in Blora district, to produce articles in scientific journals. This activity aims to increase the professional competence of teachers who are members of the Dewantara teachers’ working group in Blora district by training in writing scientific articles in Indonesian. Training is carried out through four stages, namely the preparation stage, implementation stage, monitoring and evaluation stage, and service results reporting stage. The results show that during the training the participants showed high enthusiasm in writing scientific articles. The limited training time means further participant discussions and consultations can be carried out online or via e-mail.

Abstract

Brebes, khususnya desa Slatri, dikenal sebagai salah satu produsen bawang merah terbesar di Indonesia, dengan banyak penduduk yang bergantung pada pertanian bawang merah sebagai mata pencaharian utama. UMKM di desa ini menghadapi kendala dalam pengemasan dan pelabelan produk, yang berdampak pada daya tarik dan pemasaran produk. Keterbatasan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam pengemasan dan pelabelan produk menghambat UMKM di desa Slatri untuk bersaing di pasar yang lebih luas. Pengemasan dan pelabelan yang menarik dan informatif sangat penting untuk meningkatkan daya tarik dan nilai jual produk bawang merah olahan. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, tim dosen dari Universitas Dian Nuswantoro melaksanakan proyek pengabdian kepada masyarakat untuk meningkatkan literasi dan keterampilan pengemasan dan pelabelan produk bagi pelaku UMKM di desa Slatri. Pelatihan dilaksanakan di desa Slatri selama satu hari, pada tanggal 28 September 2022. Peserta terdiri dari 40 pelaku UMKM lokal yang bergerak di bidang pengolahan bawang merah. Pelatihan ini melibatkan berbagai sesi teori dan praktik mengenai teknik pengemasan dan pembuatan label produk yang sesuai standar pasar. Hasil kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas dan daya saing produk UMKM di desa Slatri. Manfaat jangka pendeknya adalah peningkatan keterampilan pengemasan dan pelabelan bagi pelaku UMKM. Sementara itu, manfaat jangka panjangnya meliputi keberlanjutan usaha, peningkatan ekonomi desa, dan kemampuan UMKM untuk bersaing di pasar yang lebih luas dan kompetitif.
