Abstract

Background Meningiomas are primary intracranial benign tumors that are affected by the balance of estrogen and progesterone. Digit Ratio (2D: 4D) is strongly influenced by exposure to prenatal androgen hormones especially estrogen and testosterone. Objective To determine the relationship between estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) with Digit Ratio (2D: 4D) in meningioma patients. Method Analytical observational research with cross-sectional study design. The total sample of 25 meningioma patients who underwent ER and PR examinations. Digit Ratio measurements were performed at the clinic and neurosurgical ward of RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang. The Spearman test was used for the statistical test. Results Right, left and right-left difference digit ratio with mean value of 1.0046; 1,0021 and 0,0492. After Spearman test, the relationship between right Digit Ratio, left Digit Ratio and Difference between right and left Digit Ratio with PR was p = 0.5 (r = 0.1), p = 0.8 (r = 0.1), and p = 0.3 (r = 0.2). Correlation between right Digit Ratio, left Digit Ratio and Difference between left and right Digit Ratio with ER was p = 0.4 (r = 0.2), p = 0.5 (r = -0.1), and p = 0.9 (r = 0.1). Statistically there is a very weak relationship between right Digit Ratio, left Digit Ratio, difference between right and left Digit Ratio with ER and PR in patients with meningiomas. Conclusions There is a very weak relationship between estrogen receptors (ER) and progesterone receptors (PR) and Digit Ratio in meningioma patient. Abstract

Nonkeratinizing squamous cell carcinoma mempunyai berbagai nama lain, salah satunya Schneiderian carcinoma. Background: Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) is rare, accounting for <1% of malignant tumours and only about 3% of malignancies of the head and neck, that includes a keratinizing and a non keratinizing type. Nonkeratinizing squamous cell carcinoma has various other names, which one is Schneiderian carcinoma. In the past, Schneiderian carcinoma was referred to as Carcinoma Ex Schneiderian Papilloma (Malignant Transformation). Based on the scarcity and diversity of naming these cases, the authors are interested to presenting this case. Case Description: A 68-year-old man comes with a complaint of a lump in the right neck. Wide excision and reconstruction were carried out, then samples were sent for histopathology, a description of malignant epithelial cell groups, with oval, pleomorphic, hyperchromatic, coarse chromatin nuclei, eosinophilic cytoplasm, mitosis can be found, papilliferous growth, infiltrative within the tissue fibrous stroma. Follow-up examination with immunohistochemical staining that gave results: CK5/6 positive, P63 positive, and Ki67 >80%. Discussion: Characteristics and symptoms in these patients are consistent with epidemiological characteristics based on literature. Based on histopathological and immunohistochemical examination support to diagnosis Squamous cell carcinoma, transitional differenteated (Schneiderian carcinoma) in colli region right side. Conclusion: Histopathology and immunohistochemistry examination in the case of Schneiderian carcinoma are important and must be distinguished from other types because each management and prognosis are different. Abstract

BACKGROUND : The upper respiratory tract is susceptible to inflammation caused by exposure to airborne contaminants, particularly chemical irritants. Inhaled irritant gases can lead to various symptoms and adverse reactions in the respiratory tract. Laboratory workers are at a high risk of respiratory tract inflammation due to exposure to volatile chemicals. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as masks, is essential to prevent inflammation and protect the respiratory tract. Lung function tests using spirometry, including Forced Vital Capacity (FVC), Forced Expiratory Volume in One Second (FEV1.0), and Peak Expiratory Flow (PEF), can help identify abnormalities in lung function. AIMS :  The primary objective of this investigation is to juxtapose the pulmonary conditions of laboratory workers before and after the utilization of KN95® masks and Acchadana® masks. METHOD : The study design was a Randomized Control Trial, and the subjects were divided into two groups: the control group wearing KN95 masks and the treatment group wearing Acchadana® herbal masks. Spirometry measurements were taken before and after using the masks, and statistical analysis was conducted to compare the results. RESULT :  The results showed that both mask groups experienced improvements in lung function parameters after using the masks. However, the KN95 mask group showed better lung conditions compared to the Acchadana® mask group. CONCLUSION : Spirometry tests conducted on lab workers revealed improved lung function metrics (including FVC, FEV1.0, and PEF) following the usage of KN95 masks and Acchadana® herbal masks. The KN95 mask users exhibited superior respiratory health compared to the other group in this investigation.
