Abstract

Psychoanalysis is a theory that assumes that a person's personality develops when a conflict and psychological aspect occurs. In this article, the researcher examines the mental disorder or depression experienced by Princess Diana in the film. Psychoanalytic theory and hermeneutic and qualitative methodologies are used by researchers in the research of this article. The data used by the researcher included text and images as a form of psychological disclosure experienced by Princess Diana. The overwhelming stress in this film culminates in the depression experienced by Princess Diana. This research provides insight into Princess Diana's internal life struggles in dealing with her mental health, as well as describing the impact of marriage and public life. This article discusses the importance of managing mental health awareness represented in the value of psychoanalytic theory. The film "Spencer" is a case study to examine the mental health experienced by women, identity crises, and social pressures. So this research will discuss an in-depth understanding of the depiction of depression and mental health.

Abstract

This study explores the emotional and psychological journey of Otto Anderson, the main character in the 2022 film A Man Called Otto, through Alfred Adler’s Individual Psychology framework. The film portrays Otto as a grieving widower who undergoes a significant psychological transformation after the loss of his beloved wife. Employing a qualitative method and textual analysis, this research identifies five major Adlerian concepts in Otto’s character: inferiority complex, striving for superiority, lifestyle, creative self, and social interest. The findings reveal how Otto’s rigid behavior, emotional withdrawal, and repeated suicide attempts reflect a deep-seated inferiority complex and unresolved trauma. However, through interactions with new neighbors and acts of communal care, Otto gradually redirects his despair into purpose-driven actions, thus activating his creative self and developing a renewed sense of social belonging. This study not only contributes to character analysis using Adlerian psychology but also highlights the role of film as a reflective medium for mental health discourse, especially in portraying grief, resilience, and social reintegration.

Abstract

Kondisi lingkungan setiap tahunnya semakin memprihatinkan. Manusia semakin tidak peduli dengan lingkungan, sehingga kerusakan lingkungan terjadi dimana-mana. Banyaknya kerusakan lingkungan akibat dari ulah manusia diantaranya pembalakan hutan secara liar dan pembuangan sampah. Kepedulian terhadap lingkungan harus ditanamkan sejak dini agar kesadaran akan menjaga lingkungan sekitar tertanam sehingga kerusakan lingkungan dapat terkurangi. Tujuan pelaksanan pengabdian ini adalah menumbuhkan kepedulian siswa terhadap lingkungan melalui kegiatan penghijauan di MIM Pakang, Andong. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian ini yaitu dengan pendidikan masyarakat melalui kegiatan penyuluhan warga sekolah terutama kepada siswa. Upaya dalam menumbuhkan kepedulian siswa terhadap lingkungan di MIM Pakang, Andong yaitu melalui kegiatan penghijauan. Kegiatan penghijauan yang dilakukan yaitu berupa menanam pohon cemara dan pembuatan taman dengan menggunakan barang bekas sebagai pot. Kepedulian siswa terhadap lingkungan baik ditunjukkan dengan siswa mengikuti semua kegiatan yang diarahkan oleh mahasiswa KKN-DIK dengan antusias yang tinggi.

Abstract

Literary work is a creation of human based on reality and given the imagination through the media of speaking and writing. One of the examples of a literary work that can be used as learning is a film. Freedom Writers is a film directed by LaGravenese and released in 2007. This film tells the struggle of a young teacher who is determined and inspires students in his class at risk to learn tolerance. The purpose of this study is to analyze the creative power of the main character of the Freedom Writers film, namely Erin Gruwell, in solving the problems of students in her class using individual psychology theory by Alfred Adler. The problems faced are individual problems of these students, environmental problems, and problems that occur in private teachers. Creative power is individual freedom to make a change for the better. The method used in this research is qualitative research. Researchers used documentation to collect data from films. The data of this research is all utterances or dialogues concerning creative power uttered by Erin Gruwell. In analyzing the data, the researcher identified each scene that describes the creative power of Erin Gruwell's character by using the individual psychology theory by Alfred Adler. The results showed that there were five data including creative power which was carried out by Erin Gruwell.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan karakteristik dan   kecemasan tokoh Niskala dalam film Ku Kira Kau Rumah menggunakan kajian psikoanalisis. Metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Menggunakan dua teknik penelitian. Teknik studi kepustakaan yang dilakukan dengan mengintegrasikan referensi yang memiliki fokus sebagai landasan teori yang digunakan. Teori yang digunakan berupa dari seorang pakar bernama Sigmund Freud. Psikoanalisis berangkat dari sebuah ilmu guna menelisik tujuan sebuah sikap psikologis dari manusia. Teknik observasi dengan menganalisis film Kukira Kau Rumah yang dilakukan secara berulang-ulang yang diiringi dengan group discussion guna mendapatkan berbagai perspektif berbagai sudut. Dari data yang telah dikaji terhimpun sepuluh data yang dimana dapat disimpulkan, karakteristik tokoh  Niskala yaitu, bipolar, ramah, introvert, dan koleris. Para pemeran pendukung turut menonjolkan tokoh Niskala dengan sifat dan sisi kecemasan yang dimilikinya. Atau dapat dikatakan sutradara mengemas film dengan apik hingga rasa sampai kepada pononton atau penikmat film. Kecemasan tokoh Niskala dalam film tersebut terdapat, kecemasan realistik, kecemasan neurotik, dan kecemasan moral.

Abstract

Modern women frequently encounter challenges in their perspectives on life's struggle, such as focusing on social expectations of women, experiencing a lack of spiritual support in relationships, and facing a disconnection between education, job, and marriage, which hinders their pursuit of an ideal partnership. This research examines the life of education, marriage experiences, ideas, and inspirations of Jo March in the movie "Little Women" to face the challenges of women in their views on life. The data was collected from two sources the movie Little Women (2019) and other sources of literature. The result revealed that the feminist thought of life struggle found in several aspects, such as the struggle for freedom, the struggle for education, and the Struggle for happiness. These struggles were fueled by the unfair treatment of women, who were subjected to a patriarchal society that taught them they were less important than men and should adhere to men's decisions. The societal expectation that women's happiness was contingent upon male support further limited their pursuit of independence. In this era, the concept of freedom seemed distant and unattainable for women, highlighting the pervasive and systemic barriers they faced.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk (1) mengidentifikasi konflik batin dalam film Ngenest karya Ernest Prakarsa, (2) menguraikan faktor penyebab konflik dalam film Ngenest karya Ernest Prakarsa. Teori untuk menganalisis konflik batin adalah teori psikoanalisis Freud. Metode penelitian yang diimplementasikan yaitu deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Sumber data berasal dari film Ngenest karya Ernest Prakarsa. Data penelitian adalah konflik batin dan faktor penyebab terjadinya konflik batin. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui simak dan catat dilakukan dengan berulang-ulang untuk memperoleh suatu data konflik batin. Teknik analisis data berupa menonton serta mendengarkan film ngenest, kemudian menguraikan konflik batin yang dialami tokoh Ernest, Patrick, dan Meira. Selain itu, juga menguraikan faktor yang menyebabkan terjadinya konflik. Data yang sudah diperoleh diberikan uraian menurut teori psikoanalisis Sigmund Freud. Hasil penelitian bahwa konflik batin terjadi pada Ernest (tokoh utama), Meira (istri Ernest), dan Patrick (teman Ernest). Ketiga tokoh tersebut mengalami konflik batin berupa kesedihan, kebimbangan, kekecewaan atas diskriminasi yang terjadi dengan dirinya yang berasal dari keturunan Cina. Pada aspek psikoanalisis Sigmund Freud terdapat 3 struktur kepribadian yaitu 3 data id, 6 data ego, dan 4 data super ego. Faktor penyebab konflik dalam film "Ngenest" terjadi karena (1) perbedaan latar kebudayaan, (2) kepentingan antar individu, dan (3) perbedaan antar individu.Kata kunci: Konflik batin, film, psikoanalisis Sigmund Freud

Abstract

Purpose: This research was aimed at identifying the language function on youth’s motivating discourse. . It was carried out by describing the language function on youth’s motivating discourse.Methodology: The research belonged to qualitative research. The primary data were the language functions on youth’s motivating discourse. Technique of the data collection was documentation by collecting the students’ writings at SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Surakarta, such as motivating discourse, particularly discourse containing the language function. Technique of the data analysis was done by making use of the referencial and critical reading technique and small groud discussion.Results: The research result found 4 functions of the language on youth’s motivating discourse, such as (1) the instrumental function i.e. order, offer, and request, (2) the personal function that describes emotion, spirit, happiness, good mood, (3) the representation function, and (4) the regulation function.

Abstract

The paper analyzed a creative teacher handling some variously problematic students in her classroom reflected in Freedom Writers movie. Based on the problem, the paper was aimed at analyzing ways that the creative teacher took to solve the students’ problems. The theoretical framework of the analysis was the Individual Psychological approach by Alfred Adler. Teacher has an important role in human life. As a teacher, he or she not only teaches but also educates the students. To teach means transforming the teacher’s knowledge to the students. Through interaction with students, a teacher gives them various materials of knowledge. The knowledge can be language, mathematics, biology, physics, history, and so on. Meanwhile, to educate means a teacher can educate the students about social norms, ethics, proper manner, morality and the like. To play their roles, teachers often face a lot of problems. The problems ranged from students’ personal problem, their environment problem, lack of facilities of teaching learning process, to their own private problem. Freedom Writers movie, in which the creation was inspired by a true story, delineates complex problems experienced by both the teacher and the students. The teacher, Erin Gruwell, faced her students who had various and complicated problems, which later motivated to find a solution for her students’ problem. Her students’ problem might be racial discrimination, social oppression by the dominant group, social injustice experienced by the marginalized group, and so on. With her creativity of teaching technique, Gruwell created some ways to understand their students’ private problem and found a wise way out of their problems.
