The need for electrical energy is a basic requirement besides the need for food and clothing, electrical energy is absolutely needed by the community to support all their daily activities. The purpose of carrying out community service activities is to provide an alternative source of electrical energy by utilizing solar cell panels which can be felt by the public in the form of DC voltage and AC voltage through an inverter device. The method applied in this service activity is to set a plan in the form of a system work diagram and then carry out the service activities in accordance with the work plan that was made previously. The results obtained are the availability of lighting facilities and electrical energy to start the pump so that it can meet the lighting needs and water needs of the orphanage.

Program penyediaan air bersih, sanitasi dan kebersihan (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene/WASH) sangat penting untuk melindungi kesehatan manusia selama terjadinya wabah penyakit menular, termasuk wabah COVID-19 saat ini. WASH menyediakan kebutuhan dasar untuk melakukan pencegahan dan pengendalian penyakit menular dengan efektif. Praktik kebersihan baik dengan cuci tangan merupakan langkah awal pencegahan penularan virus Covid-19 dan telah terbukti menjadi salah satu langkah pencegahan penyakit menular yang murah dan terjangkau, khususnya dalam era pembelajaran normal baru. SDN001 Balikpapan Kota masih belum siap menghadapi pandemi COVID-19, ditandai dengan masih minimnya sarana CTPS dilingkungan sekolah. Penyediaan WASH dalam bentuk Handwasher Portable hasil pengembangan Politeknik Negeri Balikpapan, diharapkan dapat menjadi solusi yang memadai mendukung upaya pencegahan dan pengendalian serta menjamin berjalannya layanan kesehatan selama masa penanganan COVID-19. Tujuan dari Program Pengabdian Masyarakat ini adalah 1)memastikan tersedianya sarana CTPS sebanyak 4 unit; 2)mengedukasi siswa untuk terbiasa dalam menjaga kesehatan melalui CTPS; dan 3)menganalisa bentuk pengelolaan WASH sebagai bagian protokol kesehatan penanganan Covid-19.

ABSTRACT The partner community in the implementation of this community service is Pondok PesantrenAl-Mujahidin Km.10, Balikpapan. The aids service that have been given to this communityservices are module and trainer kit based on arduiono and also programming training withmikrokontroler. The process of this community service started with the designed the tools of the trainer KIT, then made trainer kit and learning module in order to make students easierlearning independently, and the last step was giving this tools for partner community that isthe head of Pondok Pesantrem Al-Mujahidin Km.10 Balikpapan. After that, did an evaluationto know the successful of this activity. In the preliminary of this community service, it will beheld the training for boarding students, however because of pandemic covid 19 which isstudents still off until the end of the year therefore the training was cancelled. Rancangan awalkegiatan PKM ini juga akan melakukan kegiatan pelatihan terhadap siswa pesantren namunkarena kondisi pandemi covid-19 dimana siswa masih sementara diliburkan sampai akhirtahun sehingga kegiatan pelatihan ini ditiadakan. Temperatur pada pendingin dan engine oli dapat mengindikasikan temperatur mesin oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan pemantauan suhu mesin untuk meenghindari overheating pada mesin yang dapat menyebabkan kerusakan pada komponen mesin secara keseluruhan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah melakukan perancangan dan membuat serta mengaplikasikan alat ukur suhu pada coolant dan oli mesin pada unit alat berat yang terintegrasi pada data logger. Pada penelitian ini, telah dilakukan perancangan system electrical dengan mengacu pada diagram blok dan flow chart system untuk membuat alogaritma program guna menjalankan sistem agar dapat bekerja sesuai dengan yang diharapkan. Hasil penelitian menujukkan alat dapat bekerja dengan baik untuk melakukan monitoring suhu dengan menggunakan 2 buah sensor suhu DS18B20 serta menyimpan data hasil pembacaan dalam SD card dalam format file text (*.txt). serta dapat di plot dalam bentuk grafik dengn menggunakan software pengolah data dan grafik. Dari grafik yang diperoleh menunjukkan karakteristik data sama dengan prinsip pendinginan pada mesin dengan termostat yang berfungsi dengan baik.

Technological evolution and environmental awareness have driven the improvement of quality and renewable products, especially in natural fiber-reinforced composites. This study aims to analyze the stiffness and personal frequency of ACL fiber-reinforced composite beams due to the influence of the fiber direction. Next, compare experimental values with numerical. Composite beams are produced by varying the direction of the fibers 0°/0°/0°, -45°/0°/45° and -90°/0°/90° then supported by a simple support (clamp-roll). The exciter position is placed at 0-50 cm along the composite beam, then determine the value of stiffness and vibration behavior experimentally and numerically. This research indicates an increase in the stiffness and personal frequency of composite beams in the fiber direction 0°/0°/0°. The experimental values are also greater when compared to the values obtained numerically. These findings make it possible to use ACL fiber to manufacture composite beams with vibration-enabled characteristics for various applications in engineering materials subject to vibrational forces

Conventional cooling systems on four-wheeled vehicles generally use a cooling fan driven by the crankshaft through pulleys and a belt (V-belt), causing the wastage of fuel in the vehicle. This study aims to design and implement fuzzy logic control on a prototype of an automatic cooling system for a diesel engine. The tool's design uses the experimental method, uses Arduino as a microcontroller that functions as a data processing center, with inputs of two temperature sensors and a DC motor as output to rotate the fan, and fuzzy logic control methods as an automatic control system. The research results show that this tool can operate automatically according to the engine temperature, so it is expected to produce greater effectiveness and efficiency. Measurements on each component have been carried out and show satisfactory results, testing on the temperature sensor shows a small error. Comprehensive testing of the tool shows good performance, including the PWM output to adjust the rotational speed of the fan motor so that the system can be used properly. This research will help create a prototype of an automatic cooling system for a diesel engine cooling system so that it can be developed to reveal better fuel efficiency in the future.
PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF MICROCRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE FROM OIL PALM FROND BY CHEMICAL AND MECHANICAL TREATMENT

Oil palm fronds are currently an underutilised by product of plantations. The micro and nano cellulose can be utilised to create new goods, such as being used as a filler in environmentally friendly degradable composites. This study examined the process of extracting oil palm frond fiber (OPFF) by using a series of chemical and mechanical treatments to get pure microcrystalline cellulose (MCC). The MCC obtained by OPFF was subsequently analysed in further detail. The identification of morphological analysis, presence of functional groups, and crystallinity index were conducted using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) and X-Ray Difraction (XRD) techniques. The findings revealed the presence of microcrystalline structures in OPF fibers, having a mean measurement of width 3.2 ± 0.42 ?m. The application of FTIR verified that the elimination of noncellulosic constituents from the treated OPF fibers had achieved its utmost level. Simultaneously, X-ray diffraction research revealed that the utilization of chemical procedures resulted the formation of a characteristic cellulose crystal structure and an augmentation in the crystallinity index. However, the mechanical treatment resulted in a minor drop in the crystalline index. This can be ascribed to the disturbance of cellulose chains and the crystal structure within the cellulose fibers. The cellulose obtained from raw fibers and subsequent processing exists in a very pure form, specifically in the cellulose I? structure. This enables its utilization as reinforcement in eco-friendly MCC-based green composites, offering numerous benefits.

Trajectory tracking testing is mostly implemented both on vehicles, mobile robots, flying robots, and excavators to generate a small value of trajectory tracking to effectiveness and efficiency by the tasks and functions of each unit or product. This study aims to compare trajectory tracking on pneumatic excavator units with a manual control system with a joystick and a remote control system using an Android smartphone. Two tracks are used where the first track uses combine straight and radius shapes and the second track combines horizontal and vertical lines that form an angle of 90º. The results showed the use of remote control using an Android smartphone still has a higher trajectory tracking error when compared to manual control with a joystick even though on average the error results obtained are small, so more remote control is needed.
