Abstract

Each person has a different mathematical communication ability. Mathematical communication ability is a person's ability to convey information about mathematical concepts and ideas both in spoken and written form. This study aimed to describe the mathematical communication skills of students of Grade VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Purwokerto based on extracurricular activities. The type of this research was descriptive qualitative. The subjects used in this study were students of Grade VIII B SMP N 2 Purwokerto in the 2019/2020 academic year. Data were collected using the form of tests, interviews, and documentation. The test used in this study was a written mathematical communication skill test. The research subjects consisted of 2 students with academic extracurricular activities, 2 students with non-academic extracurricular activities, and 2 students with both academic and non-academic extracurricular activities. The results of this study indicated that: 1) students who only took academic extracurricular activities and students who took both academic and non-academic extracurriculars were able to present mathematical ideas in the form of images, mathematical symbols, and provide arguments for problems that were presented appropriately, and 2) students who only joined non-academic extracurricular activities, in general, had not provided arguments for a problem that was presented properly, but they were able to present mathematical ideas into the form of images and mathematical symbols appropriately.Keywords: Mathematical communication skills, extracurricular activities.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan modul aplikasi komputer penelitian berbasis pemecahan masalah dan kontekstual yang valid, dan mengimplementasikannya dalam pembelajaran sehingga diperoleh pembelajaran yang praktis dan efektif. Data kevalidan diperoleh dari penilaian ahli, data kepraktisan diperoleh dari angket respon dan data observasi dosen dalam mengelola pembelajaran, sedangkan data keefektifan diperoleh dari data angket motivasi belajar, kemandirian belajar dan data tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah mahasiswa. Kevalidan dan kepraktian dianalisis dengan uji proporsi, sedangkan data tentang keefektifan diolah menggunakan uji one sample t test, uji regresi linier, dan uji independent sample t test. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh: 1) modul yang dikembangkan memenuhi kriteria kevalidan, 2) data angket respon siswa dalam kategori sangat baik, dan kemampuan dosen dalam mengelola pembelajaran dalam kategori baik, sehingga dapat dikatakan pembelajaran memenuhi kriteria kepraktisan, 3) kemampuan pemecahan masalah secara statistik memenuhi batas ketuntasan yang ditentukan (65), motivasi belajar dan kemandirian belajar mempengaruhi kemampuan pemecahan masalah sebesar 35,1%, dan kemampuan mahasiswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran menggunakan modul aplikasi komputer berbasis pemecahan masalah dan kontektual lebih baik dari pada mahasiswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran konvensional. Hal ini dapat dikatakan bahwa pembelajaran efektif. Kata kunci: Pengembangan modul, Pemecahan masalah, Kontekstual Abstract This Research and Development was aimed at developing valid contextual and problem-based module of Operation Research and Computer Application which was then implemented in Mathematics education as an effort of creating practical and effective learning processes. It covers three measurements of module development. They are validity, practicality and effectiveness. The validity of the module development was from the experts’ assessment, the practicality of it was gained form the mathematics lecturers’ responses of a questionnaire and the observation of learning management, while the effectiveness of module usage was revealed from a questionnaire of students’ motivation, learning independency, and a problem solving test. The validity and practicality of the module were analyzed through a test of proportion, and the effectivity of it was processed using one sample t-test, linear regression analysis, and independent sample t-test. The results of the research showed that 1). The module content was valid, 2). The learning process in which the module was used fulfilled the practical criterion. The indicators are the students’ response toward the use of the module was good and the learning process was managed well, 3). The students’ ability in completing problem-based test reached the minimum criterion of learning mastery (65). A point to add is that the students’ learning motivation and independency gave positive effect on their ablity in problem-based with 35,1%. On a whole, the students, who joined lessons in which the contextual and problem-based module of Operation Research and Computer Application was used, had better abilities than those who learned the material without the module. It can be concluded that the learning process run effectively.Key words: Module Development, Problem-based, Contextual

Abstract

This research aimed to determine whether the reciprocal teaching model affects the ability of students’ mathematical representation or not. The research design used was post test only control design. Sampling used cluster random sampling by taking two classes namely, class VII B as the experimental class and class VII A as the control class. The location of the research was SMP Negeri 6 Purwokerto. As for obtaining data used post test the ability of mathematical representation, the post test question in the form of description. Post test result of mathematical representation ability showed experiment calss average was 65.23, while control class equal to 59.31. Also it obtained the score of hypothesis testing using independent sample t-test as follows, Sig. = 0.051/2 = 0.0255 with 0.05 which means Sig < 0.05 or 0 H is rejected. It can be concluded that the reciprocal teaching model affecs the ability of mathematical representation. Keyword: Mathematical Representation Ability, Reciprocal Teaching.

Abstract

This study is aimed to describe how the efectivenees of PBL to develope mathematical problem solving skill in inferensia statistics learning. This study was a quasi experiment conducted on the odd semester in the academic year of 2014/2015. The research population was all the 3th semester of mathematics education department, Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto ion inferensia statistics topic. From the population, two classes were selected as the sample. The selected classes were Class III B and Class III C. Class III B dealt with the PBL, and class III B dealt with the direct instruction. The instrument to collect the data was an essay test to measure the mathematical communication and problem solving skills. Kolmogorove-smirnov test was used to test the normality of the data and to homogenity test using Levene’s Test. The data were analyzed using independent t-test. The results of the study show that PBL efective to develope mathematical problem solving skill of the 3th semester of mathematics education department student, Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto in inferensia statistic learning. Abstract

ABSTRACT: This research is aimed to identify errors on working paper which is written by the students observed from mathematic communicative competence. This research is included descriptive research. The subjects of this research are the students of mathematic department that get remedial in lesson matematika sekolah 4. There are nineteen students. The data is taken from the working paper which is written by the students. The sample is taken using purposive sampling technique. The working paper that is used include: (1) statistic; (2) exponents and logarithms; (3) sequence and series. Based on the research can be concluded that: errors on working paper which is written by the students observed from mathematic communicative competence are: (1) inconsistencies and inaccuracies in using mathematic symbol; (2) unability in describing inequality solution; and (3) less capable in showing tables and informative issues. Abstract

This research aims to identify the error of students’ answers to the quations of descriptive statistics viewed from mathematical communication skill. This is a descriptive research. The subjects of this research are 36 students of class IB. The technique of data collection used in this research is test. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that the errors of students’ answers to the quations of descriptive statistics viewed from mathematical communication skill are: (1) the error in presenting diagram appropriate to the objective of 30.56%; (2) the error in presenting data in the frequency distribution table of 27.78%; (3) the error in presenting data from frequency histogram to frequency distribution table of 22.22%; and (4) the inconsistency in writing symbol of 36.11%. Based on the result, it is known that the most errors of the students’ answer viewed from mathematical communication skill are the inconsistency in using the symbols.Keywords: Error identification, Mathematical Communication Skill

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah melakukan pelatihan guru-guru matematika alumni Pendidikan Matematika UMP dalam menyusun artikel ilmiah dan mempublikasikannya dalam jurnal ilmiah berindeks sinta. Hal ini perlu dibiasakan kepada guru-guru matematika sebagai proses pengembangan diri berkelanjutan yang dapat bermanfaat pada peningkatan kemampuan dan proses kenaikan pangkat. Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah ceramah, diskusi, tanya jawab, praktik, dan pendampingan. Target luaran dari kegiatan pelatihan ini adalah melakukan pelatihan untuk guru-guru matematika alumni Pendidikan Matematika UMP dalam menyusun artikel ilmiah. Selain itu, keberlanjutan dari kegiatan ini adalah dihasilkannya artikel ilmiah guru-guru matematika alumni Pendidikan Matematika yang dipublikasikan pada jurnal nasional berindeks sinta. Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan angket, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan ini sesuai dengan kebutuhan guru sebagai mitra, karena dapat memberikan informasi dan menambah motivasi mitra dalam menulis artikel dan mempublikasikannya. Dengan adanya kegiatan ini juga dapat meningkatkan kerja sama institusi dan meningkatkan peran aktif dan kepedulian alumni dalam pengembangan program studi.

Abstract

Kemampuan koneksi matematis merupakan aspek penting dalam pembelajaran matematika, karena dengan kemampuan ini siswa mampu menggali hubungan antara konsep matematika dan matematika dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Akan tetapi, kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa masih sangat beragam, salah satunya dipengaruhi oleh minat belajar matematika. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kulaitatif yang bertujuan mendeskripsikan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa pada materi segiempat berdasarkan minat belajar matematika siswa pada siswa kelas VII SMP Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. Penggambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dan dipilih dua siswa dari setiap kelompok, yaitu kelompok dengan minat belajar tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Instrument yang digunakan adalah angket minat belajar matematika, tes kemampuan koneksi matematis, dan pedoman wawancara. Validasi data dilakukan menggunakan triangulasi teknik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan minat belajar matematika yang tinggi mampu menghubungkan konsep matematika dengan materi yang berbeda, dengan disiplin ilmu lain, dan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari; siswa dengan minat belajar matematika sedang mampu menghubungkan konsep matematika dengan materi yang berbeda dan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari; dan siswa yang minat belajar matematikanya rendah mampu menghubungkan konsep matematika dengan kehidupan sehari-hari Keywords: Kemampuan Koneksi Matematis, Minat Belajar Siswa, Segiempat Abstract Mathematical connection skill is an important aspect in mathematics to be learned because it enables students to see the relation between mathematical concept and mathematical benefit on a daily basis. However, in reality, the students' mathematical connection skill is different due to certain factors, one of them is mathematics learning interest. This descriptive qualitative research aimed to describe mathematical connection skills on the subject matter of square viewed from mathematics learning interest on seventh-grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto. The samples were taken using a purposive sampling technique and resulted in two subjects from each category of high, medium, and low mathematics learning interest. The instruments used to collect the data were the questionnaire of mathematics learning interest, mathematical connection skill test, and interview. The data validation test was technique triangulation. The results showed that: students with high mathematics learning interest were able to connect mathematical concepts to different materials, to the discipline of other knowledge, and to daily life; students with medium mathematics learning interest were able to connect mathematical concepts to different materials and to daily life; and students with low mathematics learning interest were able to connect mathematical concepts to daily life. Abstract

Kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan resiliensi matematis merupakan aspek penting dalam pembelajaran matematika yang tidak bisa dipisahkan satu sama lain. Memahami bagaimana kemampuan komunikasi dan resiliensi matematis, serta hubungan antara keduanya dapat membantu guru untuk memahami kemampuan siswa. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah melihat bagaimana hubungan antara kemampuan komunikasi matematis dengan resiliensi matematis siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuatitatif. Instrument penelitian yang digunakan adalah angket resiliensi matematis, soal kemampuan komunikasi matematis, dan pedoman wawancara. Subyek dari penelitian ini adalah 32 siswa yang berusia antara 13 sampai 15 tahun yang diberikan angket dan soal tes. Berdasarkan hasil angket, siswa dikelompokan menjadi kelompok siswa dengan resiliensi tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Setelah siswa dikelompokkan dipilih secara purposive sampling masing-masing 3 siswa dari setiap kelompok untuk dianalisis hasil tes kemampuan komunikasi matematisnya dan dilakukan wawancara secara mendalam. Tujuanya, untuk menguatkan dan menggali lebih dalam tentang bagaimana kemampuan komunikasi matematis masing-masing sampel. Peneliti menggunakan triangulasi teknik untuk mencocokan data hasil tes dan wawancara. Pada tahap ini peneliti menyajikan data hasil tes dan hasil wawancara untuk melakukan triangulasi teknik. Hasil dari penelitian disimpulkan bahwa siswa dengan resiliensi matematis tinggi mempunyai kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang baik dibandingkan siswa dengan kemampuan resiliensi sedang dan rendah. Sementara siswa dengan resiliensi sedang memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematis lebih baik dibandingkan siswa dengan resiliensi rendah

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran kemampuan komunikasimatematis mahasiswa PGSD Semester V Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto.Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Subyek penelitian adalahmahasiswa PGSD yang mengambil mata kuliah statistik pendidikan pada tahun ajaran2014/2015. Teknik pengambilan data yang digunakan berupa tes uraian kemampuankomunikasi matematis dan wawancara untuk menggali informasi mendalam danpendapat mahasiswa, sehingga diperoleh gambaran kemampuan komunikasi matematismahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) pada mahasiswa dengankemampuan komunikasi rendah untuk beberapa soal mereka tidak mampu memberikanjawaban secara rasional dan lengkap serta tidak mampu menginterpretasikan hasil darioutput tersebut, 2) pada mahasiswa dengan kemampuan komunikasi sedang, merekasudah mampu menjawab pertanyaan secara rasional walupun tidak lengkap, dan merekasudah dapat menginterpretasikan hasil secara benar walaupun tidak lengkap, dan 3)pada mahasiswa dengan kemampuan komunikasi tinggi, mereka sudah mampumenjawab pertanyaan secara rasional dan lengkap serta mampu menginterpretasikanhasil secara benar, walaupun belum lengkap.Kata Kunci : Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis, Statistik Penelitian
