Abstract

This study aims to explore the harmonization of social and religious values within Sharia economic practices, focusing on the Indonesian context. The objective is to understand how these values can be integrated into everyday economic activities to promote ethical behavior and community welfare. Utilizing a systematic literature review (SLR) methodology, the research synthesizes various academic sources to identify key themes, trends, and insights. The thematic analysis reveals that education and awareness are crucial in fostering a Sharia-compliant economic environment. The findings highlight the significant role of Islamic finance in aligning financial practices with social values such as equity and justice, which are essential for community development. Additionally, the research identifies challenges, including diverse religious interpretations and limited awareness, which hinder the growth of Islamic economics in a pluralistic society. The study concludes that targeted educational initiatives and robust regulatory frameworks are necessary to facilitate the acceptance and effectiveness of Sharia economic practices.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the obstacles that are factors in the lack of profit sharing financing at BMT UGT Nusantara. This research uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods to examine the process of determining financing schemes, implementing profit sharing financing and identifying the causes of the lack of profit sharing financing at BMT UGT Nusantara. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews with informants such as financial managers, business managers, branch heads, account officers and members of BMT UGT Nusantara. Apart from that, field observations and analysis of financing documents were also carried out to obtain a comprehensive picture.  Data analysis was carried out using three analytical steps suggested by Miles and Huberman (2007), namely data reduction, data exposure and conclusion drawing or verification. The results of this research indicate that determining the financing scheme is the internal authority of BMT UGT Nusantara with the knowledge and approval of members. Financing with a profit sharing scheme is only used for companies that are already established, while small businesses use non-profit sharing financing. The lack of financing with a profit sharing scheme is due to several obstacles such as high risk, quality of human resources, asymmetric information, moral hazard, minimal understanding of members and member preferences.

Abstract

This research discusses instruments that can support state revenues apart from taxes in the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN). Taxes, which are the main source of state income, are in reality still unable to fulfill the APBN, which ultimately has not been able to overcome economic problems in Indonesia, such as the problem of poverty. As a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, one of the instruments that can support the APBN in Indonesia is zakat. This research uses a qualitative research method with a secondary research approach. The aim of this research is to identify other instruments that can replace taxes in supporting the APBN, in this case, Zakat. The results of this research show that zakat cannot completely replace taxes as a supporting instrument for the APBN, due to limitations in its distribution. However, taxes and zakat can go hand in hand to fill each other's gaps and deficiencies in meeting the needs of the State and improving the welfare of society. The difference between this research and similar previous research is that this research discusses other alternative instruments that can help support the APBN apart from taxes. Academically, this research can enrich the literature in the field of public economics by providing a deeper understanding of sources of state income outside of taxes. Meanwhile, practically, this research can provide policy recommendations for the relevant government on optimizing sources of state income other than taxes to increase the sustainability of the APBN.

Abstract

This study explores the historical development of halal literacy in Indonesia, from traditional oral transmission by religious leaders to a modern, structured system. Halal knowledge was shared informally through religious teachings and local customs in the early stages. However, globalization and the rise of the halal economy have transformed halal literacy into a formal system. This shift is marked by establishing the Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal (BPJPH) and integrating digital technology into the halal certification process. The study highlights key challenges in promoting halal literacy, such as limited public awareness of halal products beyond food and restricted access to halal certification for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Despite these challenges, Indonesia has significant potential to become a global leader in the halal market through technological innovation, enhanced education, and government support. This research aims to provide a deeper understanding of the importance of halal literacy in the daily lives of Indonesian Muslims and its role in the future development of the halal industry.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to explore the historical development and contemporary implementation of hisbah—the Islamic institution of market supervision—from the era of Prophet Muhammad SAW to the modern context. Employing a qualitative approach through historical-normative library research, this study analyzes primary sources including the Qur'an, Hadith, and classical Islamic texts, as well as secondary data from scholarly journals, books, and institutional reports. The research focuses on the conceptualization of markets in Islam, the establishment of hisbah as a regulatory institution, and its transformation in response to modern economic governance. Findings reveal that the Islamic market, as structured by the Prophet SAW, was founded on principles of justice, transparency, and public welfare, with hisbah functioning as a moral safeguard against fraud, exploitation, and market distortion. The role of the muhtasib (market inspector) historically ensured ethical compliance in economic transactions. In contemporary times, while formal hisbah institutions have diminished, their ethical foundations are echoed in various regulatory bodies such as consumer protection agencies and Islamic financial authorities. This research contributes to Islamic economic literature by reaffirming the relevance of hisbah in modern economic systems and highlighting the need for ethical reintegration in market policies. The study suggests further empirical research on the institutional adaptation of hisbah values in different national contexts to support the development of equitable and morally grounded market systems.
