Abstract

The inability to overcome academic challenges in boarding schools may lead to adverse health outcomes and negatively impact students' subjective well-being. One potential approach to enhance subjective well-being is through the cultivation of hope and religiosity. The purpose of this study is to prove the relationship between hope and religiosity on the subjective well-being of students. The research was conducted using quantitative methods with the help of the SPSS application. The sample was selected through cluster random sampling with the criteria of students who also live in Islamic boarding schools and are 18–25 years old. A Likert-scale questionnaire was administered to 334 students to collect data. The research location is in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The instruments used in this study include the Satisfaction of Life Scale (SWLS), the Positive and Negative Affect Scale (PANAS), the Hope Scale, and the Religiosity Scale. The final analysis for the hypothesis test was carried out by multiple linear regression analysis, which had previously been carried out in prerequisite tests. The results indicated that the three hypotheses were supported, demonstrating a significant and positive correlation between hope and religiosity on the subjective well-being of Mahasantri. Furthermore, the two independent variables individually influenced the dependent variable. The practical contribution of hope and religiosity to subjective well-being was 40.2%, suggesting that these factors play a substantial role in enhancing the subjective well-being of students. The study revealed that the effect of hope (33.5%) was more pronounced than that of religiosity (17.8%), which can be attributed to hope possessing two crucial aspects in goal attainment that religiosity lacks: the development of planning and the capacity for self-motivation.

Abstract

With the growing importance of Islamic hospitality in Indonesia's tourism sector, understanding the psychological pressures faced by frontline employees becomes crucial for maintaining service quality and organizational competitiveness. This study aims to investigate the relationship between customer-related social stressors (ambiguous customer expectations, disliked customers, disproportionate customer expectations, and customer verbal aggression) and their effects on emotional exhaustion and service recovery performance, while examining the moderating role of self-efficacy among frontline employees in Islamic hotels. Using a quantitative approach, primary data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 559 frontline employees of Islamic hotels across Indonesia and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS 24 software. The findings reveal that ambiguous customer expectations, disproportionate customer expectations, and customer verbal aggression significantly increase emotional exhaustion among employees, while interactions with disliked customers showed no significant effect. Emotional exhaustion was found to negatively impact service recovery performance, with higher exhaustion levels leading to diminished recovery efforts. Importantly, self-efficacy emerged as a significant moderator, mitigating the adverse effects of emotional exhaustion on service recovery performance, enabling employees with high self-efficacy to maintain optimal performance despite experiencing emotional stress. These results have important implications for Islamic hotel management, emphasizing the need to implement comprehensive programs that enhance employee self-efficacy through interpersonal skills training, stress management, and spiritual enrichment initiatives that align with Islamic values, ultimately improving employee well-being and service quality in the halal tourism industry.

Abstract

Despite extensive research on the influence of Islam on psychological happiness, few studies have explored specific Islamic theological constructs, such as insan kamil (perfect human). This study examines the relationships among the identification and introjection of Insan kamil-based religious internalization, self-determination, and psychological happiness, together with the mediating role of self-determination. Convenience sampling was used to identify 302 Santri-background Students in Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The Insan kamil-based Religious internalization scale (identification and introjection dimensions) is an adaptation of the Christian Religious Internalization Scale, while the self-determination and psychological happiness scales were adopted from the Basic Psychological Need Satisfaction Scale and the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire. The data were analyzed using SEM based on PLS via Smart-PLS 3.0. The results show identification of insan kamil-based religious internalization positively relates to self-determination (β = .180, p = .013), but not directly to psychological happiness (β= .038, p = .325). The introjection of insan kamil-based religious internalization relates to self-determination (β= .249, p = .001) and psychological happiness (β= .255, p = .000). Furthermore, self-determination mediates the relationship between identification of insan kamil-based religious internalization and psychological happiness (β= .097, p =.014); and between introjection of insan kamil-based religious internalization and psychological happiness (β= .135, p = .001). The model explains 49% of the variance (R² = .49). Findings indicate that self-determination plays a vital role as a mediator. Pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) should integrate self-determination to enhance psychological happiness. This study also enriches Islamic psychology by connecting the happiness model with Islamic theology.

Abstract

Background: Research into Islamic Work Ethics (IWE) has predominantly focused on the corporate and banking sectors, leaving a critical gap in the library profession. This oversight limits the ability of Muslim librarians to address unique ethical challenges within the digital-era information landscape. Purpose: This study utilizes bibliometric analysis to map the intellectual structure of IWE literature, identify existing research voids, and formulate a strategic agenda for developing a value-based professional culture specifically for Muslim librarianship. Methods: The researchers conducted a bibliometric analysis of 496 Scopus-indexed documents published between 2015 and 2024. Using Biblioshiny and VOSviewer, the study mapped publication trends, global collaboration networks, and thematic clusters to evaluate the current trajectory of IWE scholarship. Findings: The study indicates significant growth in IWE literature over the last decade, with major contributions originating from Indonesia and Malaysia. However, the library profession remains conspicuously understudied. Notably, the analysis confirms that core Islamic values: sidiq (honesty), amanah (trustworthiness), fathonah (wisdom), and tabligh (communication) are formally absent from current librarianship policy frameworks. Originality/Value: As the first bibliometric study to contextualize IWE within Muslim librarianship, this research proposes an innovative conceptual model. This model integrates three essential dimensions: personal-spiritual, structural-organizational, and digital-informative, providing a roadmap for future ethical governance in LIS.

Abstract

This paper presents about the values of Al-Qur’an, Pancasila, and Mathematics in the discourse on the theory of interconnection integration undergoing a demystification process. The configuration of the values of Al-Qur’an, Pancasila, and Mathematics through Islamic studies is carried out with a theo-anthropocentric process on the integralist values of Al-Qur’an to Mathematics, giving birth to six models, namely Mathematics for Al-Qur’an, Mathematics from Al-Qur’an, Mathematics to explore Al-Qur’an, Mathematics to deliver Al-Qur’an, Mathematics to explain Al-Qur’an, and Mathematics with Al-Qur’an. In integration, there is an effort to restructure Qur’anic and Mathematical sciences, while in interconnection there are meetings in the format of complementation, comparison, confirmation, and the contribution of the verses of Al-Qur’an to the five precepts of Pancasila.
