Abstract

Personal responsibility is an individual's ability to identify and regulate one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and the willingness to take responsibility for the choices and resulting social and personal outcomes. Through a quantitative correlational study, this study explores the role of personal responsibility and career planning in high school students/adolescents. A total of 465 adolescent subjects from Indonesia were sampled in this study. The data collection method used instruments tested for validity and reliability in measuring personal responsibility and career planning. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics to describe the level of personal responsibility and career planning and inferential statistics, namely product moment and simple linear regression, to test the relationship between the two variables. The results showed that 50.9% of students showed that the level of personal responsibility was high, while 60.8% indicated that career planning was medium. Statistical analysis also shows a positive and significant relationship between personal responsibility and career planning, with a practical contribution of 88.1%, while other factors influence the rest. The implications of this study can be the basis for school counselors to help develop students' career planning skills. This study also encourages further researchers to use the study results as a basis for providing guidance and counseling service interventions, especially related to personal responsibility and career planning.

Abstract

Efforts to improve disaster preparedness have not been fully implemented at SD Muhammadiyah Sapen. In 2022, a joint disaster awareness campaign was conducted, but it only involved 30 teachers and 3 classes. Disaster preparedness at SD Muhammadiyah Sapen is identified as still very inadequate, given the large number of school staff who lack knowledge and skills regarding disasters, the absence of sustained integration of disaster education, the lack of regular simulations, and insufficient disaster-related facilities and infrastructure. The history of disasters and their impacts at the school highlight the importance of implementing the Disaster-Resilient Educational Unit (SPAB). SPAB serves as an effective tool for providing information, knowledge, and skills to school community members regarding disaster response. Implementing SPAB can enhance the preparedness of school community members, strengthen the school’s capacity, and thereby reduce risks during disasters. This aligns with UPY’s roadmap for community service, specifically the development of disaster-resilient regions. The activities will be conducted in accordance with the three pillars of SPAB: safe school facilities, disaster management in schools, and education on disaster prevention and risk reduction. Implementation methods include lectures, group discussions, practical exercises, and simulations. Activity outcomes include disaster risk assessments, school action plans, early warning systems, evacuation plans, the formation of school disaster response teams, standard operating procedures for disaster emergencies, table top exercise (TTX), and disaster simulations. The evaluation of the SPAB programme demonstrated an improvement in the knowledge and skills of school communities in dealing with disasters. The Community Service Programme (PKM) of the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) at Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta has proven that a collaborative and school-based approach is effective in enhancing schools' resilience to disasters.

Abstract

This study aims to gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics of individual variation in the learning process at Krapyak Wetan Public Elementary School, Bantul, Yogyakarta Special Region. The main focus of this study is to examine how differences in student characteristics influence the effectiveness of classroom learning. The individual variations observed include aspects of intelligence, learning styles, personality, and temperament, which in practice have proven to be important factors in determining the success of the learning process. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques such as participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included the principal, grade I, II, and III teachers, and students in the 2024/2025 academic year as the primary data sources. The results show that Krapyak Wetan Public Elementary School has consistently implemented the Independent Curriculum through the application of differentiated learning. This approach allows teachers to adapt learning strategies to the needs, potential, and characteristics of each student. In its implementation, teachers use various adaptive methods, such as the use of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic media to accommodate the diversity of student learning styles. Furthermore, learning is supported by peer tutoring strategies, project-based learning, and flexible grouping, encouraging interaction and collaboration among students. The evaluation process is carried out continuously through formative and summative assessments tailored to each individual's development. This demonstrates the school's awareness and systematic efforts to create more inclusive and responsive learning.

Abstract

Increasing personal responsibility in education is an innovative idea, an idea to educate students in developing morals and values, or the basis of character education. This research aims to develop a personal responsibility scale for students which is expected to become a valid and reliable measuring tool. The method used in this research is a quantitative approach and data analysis used using the Rasch model. The research population consisted of 309 students as respondents, then the sampling technique was purposive sampling with a total of 20 students. The research results showed that the personal responsibility scale was declared suitable for use based on statistical tests using Rasch mode with a reliability value of 0.81. So based on the results of this analysis it can be used as an instrument to measure students' personal responsibility. The implications of the validation results of the personal responsibility instrument are useful in measuring students' personal responsibility, as a basis for providing guidance and counseling services.
