Abstract

Mental health is a crucial aspect for adolescents, as those with poor mental health may experience conditions ranging from depression and anxiety disorders to suicidal tendencies. Identifying mental health issues is essential, necessitating an instrument to assess adolescent mental health. This study aims to adapt the Arabic Scale of Mental Health (ASMH) into Indonesian and evaluate its validity using the Rasch model. The adaptation process followed the Procedures and Guidelines for Translating Counselling Assessment as outlined by Lenz, Gómez Soler, Dell'Aquilla, and Uribe. The translated instrument was administered to 685 high school and vocational school students from Yogyakarta. The instrument was then analyzed using the Rasch model to determine its suitability for use. Results indicate that the adapted instrument is deemed appropriate for use based on statistical analysis using the Rasch model.

Abstract

Psychological well-being is another concept that illustrates essential aspects of human functioning, such as positive relationships, competence, and meaning and purpose in life. This study aims to examine the relationship between psychological well-being and assertive behavior. The research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method to describe psychological well-being. The subjects of this study are 137 students from SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta, selected using simple random sampling. Data analysis techniques used SPSS to perform simple regression analysis. The results show a significant influence of assertive behavior on the students' psychological well-being. The impact of assertive behavior on psychological well-being is 37.7%, while the remaining 62.3% is influenced by other variables not studied. This research recommends the inclusion of assertive behavior to enhance psychological well-being when providing guidance and counseling services to students.

Abstract

Adolescence is a period that has a very unique development. Spirituality is core to the individual's process of becoming holistically healthy. This study aims to determine the relationship between spirituality, emotional awareness, and coping among adolescents in Yogyakarta. The research method used was correlational with a direct survey of 525 students aged 14-18 years at the high school level. The research instrument used was the Wellness Evaluation of Lifestyle inventory, which Naini (2013) adopted through back translation and adaptation to the Indonesian language and culture. The data analysis technique used is Pearson correlation. The research results show spirituality with emotional awareness and coping with a Pearson correlation of .325 and p = .000 (p<.05). This study concludes that there is a relationship between spirituality, emotional awareness, and coping in adolescents.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the optimization of open-mindedness characteristics in enhancing students' critical thinking skills, in alignment with the achievement of the Profil Pelajar Pancasila (Pancasila Student Profile). Using a qualitative approach with a literature review methodology, the research identifies various theories and practices that link open-mindedness with critical thinking. The analysis reveals that open-mindedness, which includes openness to new ideas and diverse perspectives, plays a crucial role in developing critical thinking skills. Students with this characteristic tend to be better at evaluating arguments, considering multiple viewpoints, and making more informed decisions. Furthermore, this study highlights strategies for fostering open-mindedness within the educational context, particularly in guidance and counseling, such as group discussions, project-based learning, role-playing, simulation games, and the integration of technology-based tools like augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). The findings are expected to contribute to the development of a more effective and inclusive curriculum, supporting the achievement of national educational goals to produce a generation that is not only knowledgeable but also character-driven and competitive. This study recommends the need for training educators and counselors to apply methods that foster the development of open-mindedness among students..

Abstract

This study aims to develop and test the validity and reliability of an academic resilience instrument tailored to the context of Junior High School (SMP) students. The research was conducted using a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design, involving data collection through a 51-item questionnaire. The subjects of this study were 84 junior high school students aged 12-16 from the Yogyakarta region. Data analysis was carried out using the Rasch Model method with Winstep version 3.73. The analysis results identified 47 items that met the criteria, with a Cronbach’s alpha value of 0.93, which falls into the good category. The person reliability value of 0.92 is considered excellent, while the item reliability value of 0.96 is categorized as outstanding. The analysis results indicate that the developed academic resilience instrument possesses good psychometric characteristics, including high validity and reliability. This instrument can serve as an effective tool for educators and counselors to identify student needs, design appropriate intervention programs, and enhance the quality of guidance and counseling at the junior high school level.

Abstract

As explained, personal responsibility is an individual's skills in taking responsibility for all decisions and actions and the results and impacts on others. A sense of responsibility can affect student academic achievement, so having a sense of personal responsibility, especially in the learning process, becomes important. Personal or personal responsibility can be developed through self-regulated learning and learning autonomy. So, this study aims to determine whether there is a correlation between personal responsibility with self-regulated learning and learning autonomy. The method used in this study is quantitative with a correlational type of research involving 141 students from semester 2 to semester ten aged 18 to 24 years. The data collection technique uses three instruments (personal responsibility, self-regulated learning, and autonomy learning). This study's results indicate a correlation between the three variables, namely personal responsibility, self-regulated learning, and autonomy learning (p> 0.000). The existence of this relationship shows that it is important for students to cultivate personal responsibility so that they can manage the learning process without depending on others (independently).

Abstract

In ever-developing social dynamics, understanding gender roles is becoming increasingly important. Previous research suggests that gender can influence how individuals respond to academic and emotional challenges, with factors such as religiosity and emotional intelligence playing an important role in this process. This study investigated gender differences in religiosity, emotional intelligence, and academic resilience among students aged 12–16 years. The method used is comparative quantitative. A total of 626 students (286 males and 340 females) were selected through simple random sampling. The data collection instruments used are the religiosity scale, emotional intelligence scale, and academic resilience scale, developed independently by the researcher and tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis uses the independent sample t-test. The results of data analysis on the religiosity variable show that there is a difference of 0.000 < 0.05 in the religiosity of male and female students. In contrast, the emotional intelligence and academic resilience variables show that there is a difference in emotional intelligence of 0.145 > 0.05 and academic resilience of 0.203 > 0.05 in boys and girls. Overall, the results of this analysis provide important insights into the influence of gender on several aspects of student psychology and behavior. These results can be used to design more inclusive and gender-sensitive educational policies and programs, as well as support the holistic personal development of all individuals, regardless of gender.

Abstract

Increasing personal responsibility in education is an innovative idea, an idea to educate students in developing morals and values, or the basis of character education. This research aims to develop a personal responsibility scale for students which is expected to become a valid and reliable measuring tool. The method used in this research is a quantitative approach and data analysis used using the Rasch model. The research population consisted of 309 students as respondents, then the sampling technique was purposive sampling with a total of 20 students. The research results showed that the personal responsibility scale was declared suitable for use based on statistical tests using Rasch mode with a reliability value of 0.81. So based on the results of this analysis it can be used as an instrument to measure students' personal responsibility. The implications of the validation results of the personal responsibility instrument are useful in measuring students' personal responsibility, as a basis for providing guidance and counseling services.

Abstract

Psikologi positif memfokuskan kajian pada upaya mengembangkan, menciptakan, dan menemukan situasi yang positif ke arah lingkungan yang mampu menciptakan kekuatan untuk individu itu sendiri. Konsep populer yang baru-baru ini dibahas dalam psikologi positif yaitu berkaitan dengan flourishing, yang menggambarkan kemampuan individu untuk berkembang secara optimal, berfungsi seutuhnya, merasakan kenyamanan dan kepuasan dalam menjalani kehidupan. Selain itu Flourishing dideskripsikan sebagai individu yang mampu memanfaatkan seluruh potensi yang dimilikinya demi suatu tujuan dan sangat menikmati perannya dalam menjalani proses tersebut. Flourishing sangat penting dimiliki oleh calon konselor dalam proses pemberian bantuan pada klien. Penelitian ini dilakukan terhadap 109 siswa bimbingan dan konseling yang berusia antara 17 hingga 25 tahun untuk mengetahui tingkat flourishing mereka sebagai calon konselor/helper. Penelitian ini menggunakan flourishing scale untuk pengumpulan data dan studi deskriptif untuk analisis data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 74% siswa berada pada kategori berkembang tinggi, 23% berada pada kategori sedang, dan hanya 3% yang berada pada kategori rendah. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa individu dengan tingkat flourishing yang tinggi lebih mampu menangani emosinya dan mengelola berbagai peristiwa kehidupan, sedangkan individu dengan tingkat flourishing rendah cenderung memiliki pandangan negatif terhadap kehidupan dan kesulitan mengelola emosinya.

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan memperkuat keterampilan hidup ramah lingkungan bagi anak binaan di Lembaga Pembinaan Khusus Anak (LPKA) Kelas II Yogyakarta melalui kegiatan pelatihan teknologi aquaponik sederhana. Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli sampai Agustus 2025 dan masih berlanjut hingga November 2025 dengan melibatkan 24 anak binaan, tiga dosen, dua mahasiswa Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), serta fasilitator dari komunitas Gubughydro. Kegiatan dirancang dengan pendekatan partisipatif yang meliputi penyuluhan konsep green living, pengenalan prinsip dasar aquaponik, serta praktik sederhana penanaman dan perawatan tanaman. Pelatihan tidak hanya memberikan pemahaman teknis, tetapi juga menanamkan nilai kedisiplinan, kerja sama, dan tanggung jawab. Anak binaan menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi selama kegiatan, ditandai dengan partisipasi aktif dalam diskusi, tanya jawab, serta kesungguhan saat mencoba praktik secara bergiliran. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan tentang pentingnya pola hidup ramah lingkungan dan keterampilan dasar bercocok tanam yang berkelanjutan. Dengan demikian, pelatihan ini mampu menjadi sarana pemberdayaan yang konstruktif, memberikan bekal pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang dapat dikembangkan anak binaan pada masa pembinaan maupun setelah kembali ke masyarakat
