Abstract

Underage children whose minds are not yet mature are prone to doing things detrimental to themselves and others. The cause is the uncontrolled use of gadgets. The large amount of jokes or 'pranks' content children consume from the internet makes students of SDN 042 Kualu do the same. The solution offered here is to provide socialization and discussion with teachers on how to handle this behavior and the possible legal consequences. Second, a reading corner in the classroom should be built to apply a literacy culture at SDN 042 Kualu. The purpose of this activity is so that students can divert their energy to reading books, gain broad insight, and build noble character through a literacy culture. The method of this activity starts from the preparation and material creation stage, the socialization stage, and the reading corner arrangement stage. The results of this activity are increased insight for teachers, establishing a literacy culture at SDN 042 Kualu, and students no longer joking beyond the limit.

Abstract

Despite the growing international recognition of traditional knowledge (TK) as a strategic asset for biodiversity conservation, innovation, and sustainable development, limited scholarship has examined how fragmented legal regimes and the absence of collective rights recognition undermine its effective protection. This research aims to analyze the weaknesses of Indonesia’s current legal framework and formulate a more comprehensive protection model based on collective rights and sustainable development principles. This research employs a normative juridical method using statutory, conceptual, and comparative approaches. The analysis focuses on Indonesian regulations and compares them with the protection systems implemented in India and Malaysia. The findings demonstrate that Indonesia's legal framework remains fragmented across sectoral regulations, resulting in overlapping institutional authority, limited legal recognition of indigenous communities as collective rights holders, and the absence of binding mechanisms for Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) and Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS). In contrast, India strengthens defensive protection through the Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL) and anti-biopiracy mechanisms, whereas Malaysia provides a more operational ABS framework supported by dedicated biodiversity legislation. However, both jurisdictions continue to rely predominantly on state-centered governance and provide only limited indigenous autonomy. Based on these findings, this research proposes a sui generis legal framework that integrates collective ownership, FPIC, ABS, community-based governance, customary dispute resolution, and collective legal standing into a unified protection regime. The proposed model contributes to strengthening legal certainty, enhancing indigenous participation, harmonizing fragmented regulations, and promoting sustainable management of traditional knowledge in Indonesia.

Abstract

Indonesia continues to record growth in industrial design applications, yet its legal system has not provided equally effective protection for registered designs. This condition creates a gap between the development of industrial design regulation and its implementation in protecting designers and rights holders. This study examines the structural weaknesses of Indonesia’s industrial design protection system and develops an adaptive and integrated model for legal reform. The study applies a sociolegal approach by integrating regulatory, empirical, and comparative analyses. It examines legislation, judicial decisions, registration data, and institutional practices and compares the Indonesian system with the legal frameworks implemented in Japan and Malaysia. The findings reveal that regulatory inconsistency, institutional limitations, and implementation problems collectively weaken industrial design protection in Indonesia. The current registration mechanism provides limited substantive examination, which increases legal uncertainty and creates potential conflicts between industrial design and copyright protection, particularly in determining originality and ownership. Complex administrative procedures, ambiguous regulatory provisions, limited institutional capacity, and insufficient public understanding further reduce the effectiveness of protection. The comparative analysis shows that Japan and Malaysia have developed institutional and administrative mechanisms that offer relevant approaches for strengthening Indonesia’s system.
