Abstract

Being elderly is a stage of life characterized by physiological, psychological and social maturity, and degradation. Initial observation has revealed that the elderly rarely interact with other elderly people in communal rooms and activities. Furthermore, they tend to enjoy activities related to music the most. The presence of a stimulus based on hobbies in a communal room through a music game was expected to revitalize spatial function and increase the elderly’s life quality. The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of a music game and identify the elements thereof, which can influence the elderly’s social interaction in a communal room. A quasi experiment was employed and the results were analyzed using Wilcoxon Signed Rank statistics test. The results revealed that communal rooms can function as social space by implementing a music game. Music has an impact on the elderly’s social interaction in relation to the time they wish to play, their willingness to invite other elderly people, the type of social contact, duration of interaction, and the number of participants. The choice of a video clip game is an element of a music game, which had a dominant effect on their social interaction in comparison to the choice of singers’ pictures and lyrics of notes games.

Abstract

The Societeit de Harmonie Arts Building (GKSdH) is located on Jalan Riburane, Makassar City, South Sulawesi. The building was built in 1896 by the Dutch colonial government, and has undergone several renovations until 1999. For the performing arts community, the interior performance of GKSdH is considered inadequate and less representative as an art building, even though with limited funds from the Makassar City government, various renovate and procurement of building equipment gradually from year to year have been carried out by the management. The lack of maintenance and minimal operational costs of the building indicates a lack of interest in visitors and the art community to come and do activities in this building. This community service activity aims to provide the interior design of the GKSdH Auditorium, which is representative of the performing arts community. Through a participatory approach to redesign, it can be known that user preferences in meeting space needs in accordance with artistic activities in Makassar City. The results of this service activity, in addition to contributing to the idea of an auditorium interior design idea that has better performance and according to user needs, also show an increase in understanding and participation of partners; Pre-test 60,5 and Post-test 95 (out of a total score of 100), especially at the conceptual stage of redesign ideas, and awareness of building maintenance.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menerapkan model edukasi lingkungan berbasis simulasi spasial bagi siswa sekolah dasar. Model ini dirancang untuk menumbuhkan kesadaran ekologis dan kemampuan berpikir spasial melalui pembelajaran interaktif yang memadukan aspek edukatif dan arsitektural. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi sosialisasi tentang pentingnya area hijau di lingkungan sekolah, penggunaan alat peraga berupa denah sekolah dan miniatur pepohonan sebagai media simulasi, serta diskusi kelompok untuk merancang penataan vegetasi peneduh secara kontekstual. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di ruang kelas dengan pendekatan partisipatif dan edukatif. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa tahap sosialisasi mampu meningkatkan pemahaman siswa mengenai pentingnya penghijauan dan peran vegetasi dalam menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang sehat dan nyaman. Selanjutnya, tahap simulasi spasial mendorong siswa untuk berpikir kritis dan kreatif dalam menata ruang hijau, sehingga meningkatkan pemahaman terhadap konsep tata ruang vegetasi sekaligus menumbuhkan sikap peduli lingkungan. Selain itu, media denah dan miniatur pepohonan terbukti efektif sebagai alat bantu kognitif dan visual dalam proses pembelajaran lingkungan hidup. Kegiatan ini menghasilkan model pembelajaran inovatif yang dapat direplikasi di sekolah dasar lain sebagai upaya penanaman nilai-nilai ekologi sejak dini.
