Abstract

The purpose of this article is to explain the meaning and Christian pedagogical value of Pasue culture in the lives of the Ndao people which is the basis for religious moderation on Ndao Island. To achieve this goal, the method used is a qualitative method with an auto ethnographic approach. The data collection technique used was interviews with 5 community leaders. The research results show that Pasue culture is a culture that has existed for a long time, and is practiced in the Ndao Island community (Ndao people). At a certain time, namely before the harvest season, there is a Kalela tradition, which is a tradition of visiting friends from one village to another bringing provisions from the harvest. The Christian pedagogical values contained in this culture are: 1) Friendship knows no boundaries, just as Christ called us his friends; 2) Friendship begins with a bond of promise and promises must be steadfast; 3) Chickens are cut and blood Chicken is a symbol (of life) that is shed for togetherness, therefore it must be maintained so that it continues to live together; 4) Eating together is a way to sit side by side in all circumstances, regardless of ethnic or religious differences. These teaching values are the basis for religious moderation in the Ndao Island community or Ndao people.

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to examine marriage by capture from the perspective of Christian marriage so that, in the end, the church, government, and all levels of society can determine the correct attitude towards catch marriage. This paper uses a qualitative method with data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation studies. Sampling used purposive sampling and snowball sampling. Capture marriage, one of the marriage methods in Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, is a tradition of kidnapping women to make her a bride. This has been practiced by noble descendants for prestige purposes since the era of kingdom rule in Sumba. The results obtained show that marriage by capture has experienced a shift in meaning, where it was once done for prestige and by mutual consent, but now it is an act of violence and crime that is very detrimental and even demeaning to women. In the perspective of Christian marriage, the capture of marriage is an act that opposes the Word of God because marriage should be based on love. The government, churches, non-governmental organizations, traditional leaders, and community leaders have expressed their rejection of marriage by capture. Evidence of this rejection is the existence of policies or regulations and a number of other programs to overcome and eliminate capture marriage. However, so far, the government, churches, non-governmental organizations, traditional leaders, and community leaders have not really implemented every existing regulation.

Abstract

This article explores a study on the socio-pedagogical dimension in the construction of um’ma, the traditional house of the local Sumba Tribe in Kampong Bodomaroto, West Sumba. Several dimensions were analyzed regarding the local Bodomaroto’s perspectives on the meaning and functions of um’ma as a traditional house. Firstly, the Bodomaroto community perceives um’ma as a vessel that encapsulates the profound essence of Bodomaroto and its people. They view um’ma Bodomaroto as a representation of their collective identity as human beings. Secondly, the functions of um’ma are observed through its conceptualization and its connection to cosmology, which can be divided into two parts: horizontal and vertical space. This cosmology is associated with the human body. Um’ma Bodomaroto embodies physical and social entities. Thirdly, um’ma Bodomaroto holds socio-pedagogical values that are translated into moral education. The moral education encompasses several aspects: (1) nurturing children through rabuka and lado, emphasizing parental responsibilities, (2) fostering an understanding of the economy through kotatu and wasu patunu, (3) promoting respect for the living environment through padalu, (4) maintaining a balance of responsibilities through the four pillars, (5) cultivating harmony and fellowship through kogola, (6) assuming responsibility for the well-being of the entire household through wo’o letara, (7) respecting the body through muat alang representation, and (8) adhering to firm and focused principles through kaluota. These eight moral concepts serve as guiding principles for community education. These concepts are integrated into the education system, aligning with the philosophy of liberating education put forth by Paulo Freire. According to Freire, education comprises three crucial elements that are interrelated with the meaning and function of um’ma.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the fishing traditions carried out by women on Ndao Island, and to analyze the pedagogical-sociological values contained in these fishing traditions which need to be passed on to the next generation. To obtain information, the research method used was a qualitative method by interviewing 5 people as resource persons who understood the fishing traditions on Ndao Island. The results obtained from this research are that there are a number of fishing traditions carried out by women on Ndao Island, namely Dja'i, Lege tatohi, Hèb'bi, Pasèra and Bhabho. From this tradition there are a number of pedagogical and sociological values that are obtained and need to be passed on to future generations, namely: 1). Men learn to respect women's work, 2). The equipment used to catch fish is the kalera and kanaca, and these two tools are used as symbols of marriage. 3). People are taught to be patient and diligent in doing a job. 4) The community learns from the Ndao women to always work together in doing work. 5). The community is taught to use sea-friendly fishing methods. 6). Learn to share results as a form of manifestation of love for others.

Abstract

Yang menjadi rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah Bagaimana peran dan strategi Pendeta Wilayah untuk memberdayakan Utusan Injil dan Penanggung Jawab dalam membangun Jemaat Di Wilayah Kependetaan Baun, Klasis Amarasi Barat pada tahun 1977-1985. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah ingin mengetahui dan menganalisis peran dan strategi yang dibuat oleh Pendeta Wilayah untuk Memberdayakan Utusan Injil dan Penanggung Jawab Dalam Membangun Jemaat Di Wilayah Kependetaan Baun, Klasis Amarasi Barat pada tahun 1977-1985. Metode yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif yaitu mencari informasi dari beberapa informan dengan metode wawancara dan hasilnya disajikan, dianalisis dan ditarik kesimpulan. Dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa peran dan strategi yang dibuat oleh Pendeta Wilayah untuk Memberdayakan Utusan Injil dan Penanggung Jawab Dalam Membangun Jemaat Di Wilayah Kependetaan Baun, Klasis Amarasi Barat pada tahun 1977-1985 yaitu 1). Mengatur pelayanan pendeta ke mata jemaat, 2) Melakukan pastoral ke mata jemaat yang majelisnya bermasalah, 3). Pelayanan Sakramen, baptis dan perjamuan , pentahbisan anggota sidi, Peneguhan Nikah kudus 4, Pemakaman orang mati di mata jemaat, 5) melakukan pembinaan majelis jemaat di mata jemaat, 6) melakukan musywarah belajar setiap Jumat.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mencari nilai-nilai alkitabiah yang dapat dijadikan oleh gereja sebagai kekuatan dalam melakukan moderasi beragama. Penelitian ini dilakukan mengunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisa mendalam terhadap berbagai literatur dengan mangacu pada alkitab sebagai landasan biblis utama. Ada empat nilai yang ditemukan dari penelitian ini yaitu 1). Nilai kebaikan dan perdamaian yang direflesikan dari ajaran Raja Daud, Rasul Yohanes dan Rasul Paulus tentang berbuat baik, menjauhi yang jahat, tidak membenci orang lain dan selalu berupaya untuk mencari perdamaian. 2). Nilai mengasihi tanpa dibatasi oleh suku, agama, ras dan golongan. Nilai ini diperoleh dari cerita nabi Yunus, kisah orang Samaria yang murah hati, kisah penyembuhan yang Yesus lakukan bagi perempuan Sirofenesia dan hamba seorang perwira di Kapernaum dan terakhir karya penyelamatan yang dilakukan Yesus kepada semua orang tanpa memandang suku bangsa dan golongan. 3). Nilai kerukunan yang menurut mazmur Daud dapat mendatangkan berkat bagi semua orang. 4). Gereja yang dipanggil untuk melayani sesama. Yesus dalam keseharianNya bekerja untuk melayani orang dalam segala aspek kehidupan, karena itu gereja dipanggil menjadi alat untuk terus melayani sesama tanpa memandang muka dan inilah nilai pelayanan harus dilakukan oleh Gereja.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to reveal the background of the birth of Christianity on Ndao Island, Rote Ndao Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. The author uses a qualitative method with interview data collection techniques and documentation studies of 6 informants. The results of the study indicate that the people of Ndao Island really miss going to school because the king often comes to Rote Island and sees the education that has been opened by the Dutch. In 1918 schools began to be opened on Ndao Island by a Dutch Pastor named Geisler and a teacher from Delha, Rote Island. The teacher not only taught general lessons but also taught Bible stories and not only children who believed but a number of parents of students also believed in Jesus. During a visit to the school, Geisler led worship and baptized 90 adults and children as Christians. This event became a milestone in the birth of the first church on Ndao Island. Schools or education have become the gateway and have made a major contribution to the birth of the church or Christianity on Ndao Island.AbstrakTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkapkan latar belakang lahirnya kekristenan di Pulau Ndao Kabupaten Rote Ndao Nusa Tenggara Timur. Penulis menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data wawancara dan studi dokumentasi terhadap 6 orang narasumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa bahwa masyarakat Pulau Ndao sangat rindu untuk bersekolah karena raja sering datang ke Pulau Rote dan melihat pendidikan yang sudah mulai dibuka oleh Bangsa Belanda. Pada tahun 1918 sekolah mulai di buka di Pulau Ndao oleh seorang Pendeta Belanda bernama Geisler dan seorang guru dari Delha pulau Rote. Guru tersebut tidak saja mengajarkan pelajaran umum tetapi juga mengajarkan cerita alkitab dan bukan saja anak-anak yang percaya tetapi sejumlah orang tua dari murid pun menjadi percaya kepada Yesus. Dalam suatu kunjungan di sekolah Geisler memimpin ibadah dan membaptis 90 orang dewasa dan anak-anak menjadi orang kristen. Peristiwa ini menjadi tonggak sejarah lahirnya gereja pertama kali di Pulau Ndao. Sekolah atau pendidikan telah menjadi pintu masuk serta memberikan kontribusi besar bagi lahirnya gereja atau kekristenan di Pulau Ndao.

Abstract

The aim of community service activities is related to explaining the duties and functions of teachers. Strengthening the roles and responsibilities of teachers serving children and adolescents is a crucial action in ensuring the continuity of their education and optimal development. Teachers are still hampered by a lack of tools and understanding of teaching creativity. Methods for implementing services, discussing and practicing. Interact with children to convey the goals and themes in storytelling activities. From the results of community service activities, it can be concluded that generally they are able to implement pop up books with puppet shows on stage. The teacher reveals about story development. The teacher emphasizes communication strategies that can affect children's emotions.

Abstract

Adolescents are an age group that is vulnerable to social conflict due to emotional immaturity and the search for self-identity. Amidst the increasing cases of violence and intolerance among adolescents, Christian Religious Education (PAK) has strategic potential in forming peaceful characters and constructive conflict resolution skills. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach through an in-depth literature review of various literature and scientific journals from the last five to ten years. The results of the study indicate that PAK plays a role in internalizing the values ​​of love, forgiveness, tolerance, and justice that are relevant to building a culture of peace. In addition, PAK also contributes to forming a healthy social identity among adolescents, strengthening multicultural awareness, and providing skills in resolving conflicts non-violently. The instillation of these values ​​is carried out through a holistic approach that includes cognitive, affective, and practical learning. Christian Religious Education not only forms religious understanding, but also plays a role as a means of social transformation amidst the complex reality of conflict. Thus, PAK can be an important element in efforts to prevent conflict and form a young generation with a peaceful personality. These findings are expected to be the basis for developing a curriculum and practice of Christian education that is more responsive to the social challenges faced by today's youth.

Abstract

The church is called to bring about the harmony and unity of Christ in a divided world. However, internal conflict often arises from theological differences, leadership styles, cultural preferences, and interpersonal issues. Conflict that is not managed wisely can damage the integrity and witness of the church. This study uses a library research method and finds that harmony is an active process that requires dialogue, openness, acceptance, mutual respect, and love. The roots of church conflict are addressed through loving communication (Matthew 18), biblical mediation and negotiation training, cultivating a culture of forgiveness and reconciliation, and transparent and integrity-based leadership. Although challenges such as ego exist, the power of the gospel, the Holy Spirit, and the potential for growth offer great opportunities. A reconciling church is a powerful testimony of Christ's reconciling love.
