Abstract

Sampah sebagai suatu barang yang sudah tidak digunakan lagi, dibuang maupun terbuang akibat aktivitas manusia ataupun proses alam yang dapat menimbulkan permasalahan bagi masyarakat. Dampak yang ditimbulkan dari sampah yang menumpuk yakni habisnya lahan untuk pembuangan, menimbulkan bau yang tidak sedap dan dapat mencemari air bersih. Pengolahan sampah bisa dimulai dari lingkungan rumah dan sekolah. Siswa diajak untuk memilah dan mengolah sampah anorganik. Upaya penanggulangan yang dapat dilakukan adalah melibatkan peran siswa untuk meningkatkan upaya pendauran ulang sampah, salah satunya adalah ecobrick. Nilai-nilai karakter yang ditanamkan dalam mengolah sampah menjadi barang berguna sesuai dengan karakter Pancasila. Mitra yang dipilih dalam kegiatan pengabdian adalah SD Negeri Kramat 5 dan SD Muhammadiyah 2 Alternatif yang berada di Kota Magelang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa sangat bersemangat dan antusias dalam praktek membuat ecobrick dari sampah plastik dan botol bekas. Kegiatan pengolahan sampah menjadi ecobrick sangat mendukung siswa untuk memiliki karakter pelajar pancasila.

Abstract

Keterampilan berpikir kritis diperlukan untuk memecahkan masalah dan memberikan solusi dalam pembelajaran IPA. Tidak hanya itu, keterampilan komunikasi tertulis digunakan siswa untuk menyampaikan pesannya. Hasil analisis soal esai keterampilan berpikir kritis di SMP N 1 Mertoyudan diperoleh nilai 58,007. Begitupun dengan keterampilan komunikasi tertulis yang masih kurang berkembang. Salah satu upaya yang dilakukan untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan penerapan model pembelajaran POE-Ed ( Predict , Observe , Explain , dan Extend ). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa setelah penerapan model pembelajaran POE-Ed Ed ( Predict , Amati , Jelaskan , dan Perluas ) (2) peningkatan keterampilan komunikasi tertulis siswa setelah penerapan model pembelajaran POE-Ed Ed ( Memprediksi , Mengamati , Menjelaskan , dan Memperluas ).Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain quasi eksperimen dan menggunakan desain kelompok kontrol non ekuivalen . Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 1 Mertoyudan dengan sampel kelas VII C sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII D sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan yaitu purposive sampling . Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes tertulis dalam bentuk soal uraian. Hasil analisis data menggunakan uji Independent Sample T-Test yaitu 0,000 < 0,05 untuk keterampilan berpikir kritis dan 0,000 < 0,05 untuk keterampilan komunikasi tertulis. Hasil uji Independent Sample T-Test menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan komunikasi tertulis antara siswa yang menerapkan model pembelajaran POE-Ed ( Memprediksi , Mengamati , Menjelaskan , dan Memperluas ) dengan yang tidak. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penerapan model pembelajaran POE-Ed Ed ( Memprediksi , Mengamati , Menjelaskan , dan Memperluas ) dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan komunikasi tertulis

Abstract

The development of science learning is something that needs to be considered to face problems that arise. Critical thinking skills and global citizen character need to be possessed to face problems that arise. Based on previous research, students' ability to think critically is still in the low category and students' knowledge about global citizenship is still lacking. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of the SSI inquiry based learning model in improving students' critical thinking skills and global citizen character. This research is a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental type and a non-equivalent control group design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. A significant difference was shown based on the results of data analysis in the T test <0.001 for critical thinking skills and 0.04 for global citizen character. A significant increase in critical thinking skills and global citizen character based on the average pretest and posttest scores occurred in the experimental class. These results are supported by the average experimental class N-Gain test results which show a significant increase in critical thinking skills and global citizen character. The conclusion of this research is that the SSI inquiry model is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills and global citizen character.

Abstract

Abstract:  Water is very important for fish biota and fish need to get water quality that is maintained clean without any toxic substances in it. Water pollution due to toxic substances inhibits metabolic processes in fish. The purpose of the research is to determine the effect of water pollution on the operculum movement of tilapia. The research method used was an experiment using 3 fish in each treatment. The results showed that clean water and river water had levels in accordance with Indonesian national standards. Sewer water and tofu waste water do not comply with Indonesian national standards for fish survival. Toxic substances contained in sewer water and tofu waste water cause fish operculum movement very quickly and fish experience death. Tilapia in clean water and river water did not experience death and operculum movement was normal. This research can be used as an illustration that water pollution will damage aquatic biota and cause death.Abstrak: Air sangat berperan penting untuk biota ikan dan ikan perlu mendapatkan kualitas air yang kualitas airnya terjaga bersih tanpa adanya zat toksik di dalamnya. Pencemaran air akibat zat toksik menghambat proses metabolisme pada ikan. Tujuan peneelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pencemaran air terhadap gerakan operkulum ikan nila. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan menggunakan 3 ikan dalam setiap perlakuannya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa air bersih dan air sungai mempunyai kadar sesuai dengan standar nasional Indonesia. Air selokan dan air limbah tahu tidak sesuai dengan standar nasional Indonesia untuk kelangsungan hidup ikan. Zat toksik yang terdapat dalam air selokan dan air limbah tahu menyebabkan gerakan operkulum ikan sangat cepat dan ikan mengalami kematian. Ikan nila yang berada di air bersih dan air sungai tidak mengalami kematian dan gerakan operkulum berjalan secara normal. Penelitian ini bisa dijadikan sebagai gambaran bahwa pencemaran air akan merusak biota air dan menyebabkan kematian

Abstract

There have been several cases that reflect the moral and character decline of Indonesian students. Based on some previous studies that have been carried out, ethnoscience and STEM-based worksheet can improve scientific literacy skills and grow students’ character. The aims of this research are to test the feasibility of RE-STEM-based (Religious, Ethnosains-Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) science worksheet to improve students' scientific literacy and character, and to find out the students' responses to science worksheet based on RE-STEM as an effort to improve students’ scientific literacy and character. This research applies the development research method with the ADDIE model. The sources of data in this study are the results of expert validations and student response questionnaires, while the research subjects are the experts and students. Data collection techniques and instruments in this study used the expert validation sheets and student response questionnaire sheets. The data analysis technique consists of two things namely the worksheet feasibility test using the V'Aikens value, and the student response test using the Likert scale of student responses which is then converted to a score interpretation table of five criteria. The results showed that the validity of the developed worksheet was categorized as valid with an average V'Aikens value of 0.86, so that the product developed was feasible to use, while the students’ response after using such the developed worksheet is very good with a percentage of 86.17 percent. Thus, the developed RE-STEM worksheet has accomplished the validity requirements and received a good response from students, so that it can be implemented in the learning process.

Abstract

It is important for students to master scientific process skills because they help them understand laws, principles and theories through the scientific process. Practicums that pay attention to the principles of green chemistry as one of the activities in the laboratory need to be carried out to support students' mastery of science process skills. Several related problems have been identified, namely science teachers and students do not know the principles of green chemistry, there is no training related to science practicum based on green chemistry principles, science teachers rarely provide learning experiences in the form of practical activities in the laboratory, junior high school students' science process skills are still low. The aim of implementing the service is to provide knowledge about green chemistry principles, improve science process skills, provide science practicum experience based on green chemistry principles. Service activities are carried out using discussion, problem study and practice methods. The results obtained were that participants had mastered the knowledge of green chemistry principles and science process skills in the high category. These results show the success and importance of the service carried out to increase the participants' knowledge and skills.

Abstract

Water is a vital element for human beings. However, there are still limited clean water services in Indonesia. Raw water treatment is needed to ensure the availability of clean water. One of the methods is by using the coagulation process. The coagulant functions to speed up the coagulation process. Although effective in water treatment, chemical coagulants have some disadvantages. Therefore, it is necessary to develop natural coagulants to overcome the weakness of chemical ones. Natural ingredients can be used as coagulants if they have many macromolecules. Lamtoro leaves are one of the natural materials that are only used to feed the animal. This research aims to examine the potential of lamtoro leaf as a natural coagulant in terms of its content. The research is conducted by testing lamtoro leaf powder using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy and proximate test. Infrared spectra of lamtoro leaves show the presence of absorption peaks for specific groups of carbohydrate and protein compounds. The proximate test results show that lamtoro leaves contain 24.7% protein and 53.71% carbohydrates. The high protein and carbohydrate contents in lamtoro leaves enable them to be used as a natural coagulant.

Abstract

This research is intended to analyze the quality of tofu liquid waste, analyze the quality of river water around the tofu industry in Mejing Village and analyze government policies in managing tofu liquid waste. The research method used is grab sampling, observation, and interviews to obtain primary data. Secondary data from journal articles and research reports are used to support primary data. The research results show that the quality of tofu liquid waste has a pH of 2.8-33, a temperature of 41-51 oC and is not in accordance with established quality standards. Tofu liquid waste also has a pungent sour odor, yellowish color, and contains many suspended particles. Disposal of tofu liquid waste into the waters causes the river flowing in Mejing Village to be dirty and indicates light to heavy pollution. The government has set quality standards for wastewater produced by the tofu industry. Unfortunately, the tofu industry in Mejing Village does not comply with this regulation properly. The low awareness of tofu industry players to manage liquid waste is caused by various factors. Good communication between the government and industry players is needed so that industry players know how to process the liquid waste they produce. The government needs to supervise the application of government regulations related to the management of tofu liquid waste and provide sanctions to industries that violate it. Planning for a communal IPAL as well as an appropriate solution must be realized immediately so that the problem of tofu liquid waste in the tofu industry center in Mejing Village can be resolved immediately.

Abstract

Abstract:  Indonesia is currently facing great challenges in developing the quality of education that is able to produce a young generation ready to compete in the era of globalisation. Lack of understanding and exposure to entrepreneurship, especially science-based ones, results in low student interest and motivation to develop entrepreneurial skills. Therefore, the purpose of this service activity is to provide assistance in empowering science knowledge into commercial products, students can make useful and valuable products, and can increase the entrepreneurial spirit in themselves. The method of activities carried out is divided into three stages, namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation activities. After assisting the empowerment of science knowledge, the results showed that students were very enthusiastic, active, and excited during the activities starting from delivering the material to making ecoprint products. Abstrak: Indonesia saat ini tengah menghadapi tantangan besar dalam mengembangkan kualitas pendidikan yang mampu mencetak generasi muda siap bersaing di era globalisasi. Kurangnya pemahaman dan paparan terhadap kewirausahaan, terutama yang berbasis sains, mengakibatkan rendahnya minat dan motivasi siswa untuk mengembangkan keterampilan kewirausahaan. Oleh karena itu tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini untuk melakukan pendampingan pemberdayaan pengetahuan sains menjadi produk komersial, siswa dapat membuat produk yang bermanfaat dan bernilai jual, serta dapat meningkatkan jiwa kewirausahaan dalam dirinya. Metode kegiatan yang dilakukan dibagi menjadi tiga tahap yaitu kegiatan persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Setelah melakukan pendampingan pemberdayaan pengetahuan sains, diperoleh hasil bahwa siswa sangat antusias, aktif, dan bersemangat selama mengikuti kegiatan mulai dari penyampaian materi hingga membuat produk ecoprint.

Abstract

The ability to think critically is an important competency that students must have in the 21st century, especially in the implementation of Curriculum Merdeka. However, in practice, there is a lot of learning process without training to improve critical thinking skills. So a solution is needed, namely the development of teaching materials such as modules that can overcome this problem. This research uses the Hannafin & Peck model development research form. The product is an integrated science module based on ethnoscience aspects at the Nglipoh Magelang pottery industry. This module is also integrated with the RIAS learning model which also facilitates students' critical thinking skills. The validity test obtained results of 3.32 from media experts and 3.66 from material experts so it is declared very valid. The effectiveness test with an N-Gain obtained a result of 0.74, so it can be concluded to be very effective. The practicality of the module was also analyzed based on a questionnaire with a result of 83.18% so it can be concluded that this module is very practical to use. The conclusion of this research is that the module is suitable for implementation to improve students' critical thinking skills.
