Abstract

The mosque is a center of worship for Muslims. Besides a place to pray, researchhas shown that the role of the mosque is not merely in spiritual concern. Mosques also have the role ofeducation, social and economic development. However, the relationship between the role of the mosque and the space use is yet unknown. The activity that creates space use should be analyzed to see whether created space meets the needs or not. This research aims to explore the space use of Syaikhona Kholil mosques in Bangkalan Madura. It has a unique layout with the tomb of the Indonesian ulama inside. Thus, the mosque is always crowded as a pilgrimage destination. The existence of this religious activity eventually led to economic activity to support the needs of the pilgrims, both religious needs and daily needs. Based on a qualitative approach, the primary data was collected through field observation, mapping of economic activities surrounding the mosque, and interviews. The result of the research shows that the activity of social and economic determined thespace used at the Syaikhona Kholil mosque. The economic space that are supporting the enlivenment of the mosque is not only shophouses, kiosks, and paddlers but also a large parking area. The tomb of KH Syaikhona Kholil affects the development of economic activities in the vicinity, changes the space usedaround it, and improves the lives of communities.

Abstract

Abstrak_ Kajian berbagai disiplin ilmu dari sudut pandang keislaman telah banyak dilakukan, termasuk dalam bidang ilmu Arsitektur. Berbagai pendapat tentang bentuk Arsitektur  Islam pun banyak bermunculan, baik yang memandang Arsitektur Islam dari sudut pandang tipologi fisik, filosofi hingga kondisi sosiodemografi. Akan tetapi di era modern dan heterogen saat ini bagaimana sebuah produk arsitektural dapat dikategorikan  sebagai Arsitektur Islam masihlah menjadi perdebatan. Ketidakhadiran sebuah acuan dalam menjustifikasi bentuk Arsitektur Islam menjadi tugas tersendiri bagi para Arsitek  Muslim. Paper ini bertujuan untuk melakukan identifikasi awal berbagai best practice design berdasarkan Al Qur'an dan Hadits yang dapat dijadikan acuan dalam merancang lingkungan binaan. Akan tetapi identifikasi ini tidak ditujukan untuk menjadi standar mutlak , tetapi lebih sebagai alat yang berpengaruh kuat terhadap berbagai aspek konseptual dalam membantu proses penentuan prioritas dan juga dalam pengambilan keputusan dalam mendesain. Diperlukan sebuah kolaborasi multidisipliner untuk mewujudkan panduan perancangan Arsitektur Islam.Kata kunci : Best Practice; Panduan Perancangan; Arsitektur Islam  Abstract_ Various disciplinary studies from the Islamic point of view have been widely practiced, including in the field of architecture. Various opinions about the form of Islamic architecture was much emerging, both of which looked at Islamic architecture from the physical typology, philosophy to sociodemographic conditions point of views. However, in today's modern and heterogeneous era how an architectural product can be categorized as an Islamic architecture is still a debate.The absence of a reference in justifying the form of Islamic architecture becomes a challenge for Muslim architects. This paper intends to conduct an early identification against various best practices design based on the Qur'an and Hadith, that can be used as the built environment design references. However, this identification is not intended to be an absolute standard, but rather as a tool that strongly influences various conceptual aspects in helping the process of prioritizing and also in decision making in designing. It takes a multidisciplinary collaboration to realize the guidelines of Islamic Architecture design.Keywords : Best Practice; Design Guideline;, Islamic Architecture.

Abstract

The evolution of Indonesian vernacular architecture research is examined using bibliometric analysis. We investigate publishing trends, authorship patterns, thematic focuses, and geographical distribution of research from 2000 to 2024 using Scopus data from 89 publications. Since 2015, research on sustainability, cultural identity, and preservation has increased significantly. Analysis shows a fragmented research community with room for more collaboration, especially between domestic and international organizations. Java and Bali are the most researched, indicating a geographical imbalance. Disaster resilience, digital documentation, bioclimatic performance, sustainable tourism, and vernacular urban adaptation are trends. The study finds research gaps, notably in eastern Indonesia, and advises additional research. Researchers, policymakers, and practitioners studying and preserving Indonesia's rich architectural legacy can benefit from this comprehensive review. This project maps the present research landscape to assist future research and preserve Indonesian vernacular architecture.

Abstract

This project aims to strengthen the Putri Ayu Dewi Sekardadu tomb, a religious tourism site in Sidoarjo, Indonesia, against natural calamities, particularly flooding. The study extensively researches catastrophe mitigation and architectural enhancements for religious tourism. We evaluate flood risks, examine infrastructure, and provide design solutions to improve accessibility, amenities, attraction, and ancillary services using observational research and data analysis. The study recommends combining structural improvements with community-based techniques to mitigate disasters. The findings emphasize the importance of community engagement, disaster readiness, and sustainable design in developing resilience and improving cultural tourism. By analyzing and addressing these aspects, interested parties can promote a tourism experience that can withstand natural calamities and increase cultural value. Abstract

This study investigates the physical comfort of musallas (prayer chambers) in two urban parks in Surabaya: Taman Flora and Taman Prestasi. The study examines the impact of natural ventilation, strategic positioning of openings, and thermal comfort on creating a favorable prayer environment in tropical climes. The study demonstrates that the musallas in both parks effectively employ natural air circulation, as evidenced by field observations and analysis of ventilation criteria. Furthermore, these musallas comply with national comfort guidelines (SNI). In addition, the design takes into account the need for gender-segregated places and includes amenities such as mukena to accommodate cultural and religious rituals, hence improving the overall user experience. The results emphasize the significance of incorporating deliberate design features in public areas to guarantee comfort and ease of use, providing useful knowledge for upcoming urban park projects.

Abstract

Pasuruan adalah kota pesisir yang aktivitas ekonomi masyarakatnya rentan terhadap bencana alam seperti banjir. Bencana banjir  terjadi hampir setiap tahun dan berdampak pada banyaknya kerugian, sehingga diperlukan upaya untuk menguranginya. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan mengetahui tingkat kerentanan terhadap bencana tersebut.  Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah memetakan tingkat kerentanan wilayah pesisir Pasuruan  terhadap ancaman bencana banjir. Metode penelitian mengacu pada Perka BNPB No. 02 Tahun 2012 dan berbagai penelitian yang relevan dengan memperhitungkan kerentanan sosial, fisik, ekonomi dan lingkungan.  Hasil penelitian menginformasikan  bahwa sebagian besar  pesisir Kota Pasuruan, diantaranya desa Panggungrejo, Ngemplakrejo, Mandaranrejo, dan Kepel mempunyai tingkat kerentanan sedang. Sementara 2 desa lainnya yaitu desa Desa Tambaan dan desa Gadingrejo mempunyai tingkat kerentanan tinggi dan   hanya 1 desa yaitu desa Blandongan yang mempunyai tingkat kerentangan rendah. Berdasarkan hasil analisis ini maka upaya tindak lanjut untuk meminimalkan risiko terjadinya bencana perlu dilakukan terutama untuk wilayah dengan kerentanan tinggi  dan sedang, seperti perencanaan pemanfaatan ruang wilayah dan upaya  mitigasi baik secara struktur maupun non-struktur untuk meminimalkan dampak bencana.

Abstract

Green building concept is a discourse that is expected to address the challenges of today development. The formulated of Green Building in these six criteria can be used as a guide to produce a sustainable design. The six criteria are Rightness Land Use, Energy Efficiency and Conservation, Water Conservation, Material Sources & Cycles, Air Quality and Air Comfort in Space and Building Environmental Management. Green School Bali is buildings that perform green building. This educational institution has an concept that is combined education toward the environment create a healthy environment. This study aims to knowing the application of green building in the Green School Bali to use as a reference in designing. The research method used is literature study to analyze buildings. The results show that Green School Bali has implemented the six criteria of green building, especially in building design that can save energy consumption and use of bamboo materials in the entire building. Abstract

Abu ketel dan ampas tebu memiliki perbedaan dalam stuktur fisiknya, oleh karena itu pengelolaan dan pemanfaatannya juga terbatas. Pada Pabrik Gula Kremboong kapasitas penggilingannya adalah 2700 ton/hari. Produksi gula yang cukup tinggi juga berdampak pada limbah pabrik yang dihasilkan. Limbah abu yang dihasilkan setiap harinya tidak kurang dari 115 kwintal. Plastik merupakan limbah yang akan terus menjadi permasalahan lingkungan apabila tidak tertangani secara baik. Paving block sering digunakan untuk jalan dengan perkerasan kelas ringan, trotoar, taman, dan penutup permukaan yang fungsinya masih mampu menyerap air di permukaan. Paving block banyak digunakan karena kemudahan dalam pemasangan dan perawatannya. Salah satu alternatif penanganan limbah padat yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan memanfaatkan abu ketel menjadi campuran paving blok, dengan variasi menggunakan penambahan limbah plastik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif eksperimen. Pengaruh penambahan limbah abu ketel dan limbah plastik terhadap kemampuan penyerapan air pada paving block cukup berpengaruh. Dan pada penyerapan air paving block menunjukkan variasi campuran 5% dan 7% dengan hasil dibawah 2%, ini memenuhi persyaratan mutu paving block sesuai SNI 03-0691, 1996.
