Abstract

The “Lentera” power plant is a 130 MW coal-fired power plant facility. The quality of the supplied coal to the “Lentera” power plant were tested using proximate and ultimate analysis to determine sulphur and nitrogen content. The production of SO2 and NOX emissions from coal combustion was affected by the sulphur and nitrogen content in the coal. Emission levels were observed using the Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS). This research was conducted to determine the effect of the sulphur and nitrogen content in coal on the production of SO2 and NOX gas at "Lentera" power plant during June-December 2020. The analysis was done based on statistical analysis using simple linear regression methods and analysis of variance. Based on the content of sulphur, nitrogen and caloric value, coal from East Kalimantan Province has a lower value than coal from South Sumatra Province. The content of sulfur and nitrogen significantly affected the production of SO2 and NOX emissions. The higher the sulfur and nitrogen content in coal showed the higher the production of SO2 and NOX emissions. The caloric value of coal did not show a correlation with the production of NOX emissions.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pemanasan global merupakan fenomena yang mempengaruhi kehidupan manusia dalam berbagai aspek, termasuk kehidupan sehari-hari siswa. Oleh karena itu, media pembelajaran mengenai pemanasan global menjadi sangat penting. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan Instagram sebagai media pembelajaran yang inovatif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap materi pemanasan global, serta menganalisis persepsi siswa terhadap media tersebut. Penelitian dilakukan di SMAN 2 Klaten kelas XI IPS 2 dengan sampel 35 siswa menggunakan desain pre-eksperimental (pra-tes dan pasca-tes). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 86% siswa memiliki persepsi positif terhadap akun Instagram @fakta_globalwarming. Selain itu, terdapat peningkatan signifikan pada hasil belajar siswa setelah menggunakan Instagram sebagai media belajar dengan peningkatan rata-rata sebesar 27%. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa Instagram efektif digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran. Diharapkan hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi dasar dalam mengembangkan strategi pembelajaran berbasis digital yang lebih menarik dan relevan di era industri 4.0. Abstract:  Global warming is a phenomenon that affects various aspects of human life, including students’ daily activities. Therefore, learning media that address global warming are critically important. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using Instagram as an innovative learning medium to enhance students’ understanding of global warming and to analyze students’ perceptions of the platform. The research was conducted at SMAN 2 Klaten, class XI IPS 2, with a sample of 35 students using a pre-experimental design (pre-test and post-test). The results show that 86% of students had a positive perception of the Instagram account @fakta_globalwarming. In addition, there was a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes after using Instagram as a learning tool, with an average increase of 27%. These findings indicate that Instagram is an effective learning medium. It is hoped that the results of this study can serve as a foundation for developing more engaging and relevant digital learning strategies in the era of Industry 4.0.

Abstract

Kendala geografis merupakan faktor utama terhambatnya distribusi PLN dalam memenuhi kebutuhan lsitrik masyarakat di Desa Jonggon Jaya, Kecamatan Loa Kulu, Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegera. Sehingga untuk memenuhi kebutuhan energi listrik dilakukan dengan menggunakan Genset. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi alternatif bagi pengentasan masalah elektrifikasi dengan penerapan Teknologi PV-SHS (Photovoltaic-Solar Home System) yang memanfaatkan sumber energi matahari yang dikonversi langsung menjadi energi listrik. Tahapan kegiatan yang dilakukan dalam merealisasikannya, diantaranya perakitan Sistem PV-SHS, uji fungsionalitas dan perhitungan perkiraan kebutuhan energi listrik sesuai kebutuhan sehari-hari. Perangkat Sistem PV-SHS yang dihasilkan merupakan perangkat modular yang terdiri dari modul PV, charge controller, inverter, dan sistem beban (loading) dalam bentuk perangkat yang kompatibel sebagai penghasil energi listrik. Hasil uji fungsionalitas menunjukkan bahwa pengujian kinerja Sistem PV-SHS berpotensi tinggi untuk dikembangkan di daerah ini. Selain itu, upaya untuk menekan biaya investasi dilakukan dengan perhitungan perkiraan kebutuhan energi listrik harian untuk menghindari terjadinya over-sizing pada perancangan dan implementasinya.

Abstract

Geography Education students are expected to have literacy about the phenomena around them, one of which is Urban Heat Island (UHI) literacy. It is appropriate by the mission of Geography Education at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) is to produce geography educators with a view on disaster mitigation. This study aims to determine the UHI literacy of students in 7th semester, Deparment Geography Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with survey methods. The study using purposive random sampling of 80 respondents and as many as 54 collage students were selected as samples. The UHI literacy research instrument was developed based on the OECD's International Program for Student Assessment (PISA) in 1999. Based on the indicators in scientific literacy which are divided into three categories, the results are obtained: 1) Indicators of UHI's concepts show that high categories are middle class 20.4 % and the majority of students at a high level with 79.6%; 2) Indicators of UHI's processes obtained results with 1.8 % of students at a low level, 20.4 % of students at a medium level, and 78.8 % at a high level; 3) UHI's situation indicators showed that the high category was 93% and moderate was 7%. The conclusion shows that the UHI literacy of students is relatively high, indicating that curriculum based on disaster insight has been doing well, but further research is needed on other disaster insights and analysis of factors which affect the results above.Keywords: Urban Heat Island, Urban Heat Island Literacy, Curriculum

Abstract

Kota Samarinda merupakan salah satu kota di Provinsi Kalimantan Timur yang kerap dilanda banjir saat musim hujan dan berdasarkan Peta Kajian Risiko Bencana (KRB), wilayah ini termasuk dalam kategori risiko tinggi terhadap bencana banjir. Salah satu kawasan yang kerap terdampak adalah Sub DAS Loa Bakung, Kecamatan Sungai Kunjang, Kota Samarinda. Penelitian ini bertujuan memetakan dan menganalisis karakteristik penggunaan lahan terhadap genangan banjir di Sub DAS Loa Bakung. Kajian penggunaan lahan berbasis Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG) dengan menggunakan citra Google Satellite dari SAS Planet dan Landsat 8/9 OLI TIRS dari USGS dengan resolusi 0,5 – 30 meter/pixel. Hasil digitasi citra menunjukkan klasifikasi penggunaan lahan, yaitu: permukiman (28,7%), badan air (5%), pertanian lahan kering (34,9%), semak belukar (6,8%), dan hutan (24,5%). Hasil pengolahan juga diperkuat dengan analisis Normalized Difference Built-up Index (NDBI) yang digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi wilayah terbangun, sedangkan Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) digunakan untuk mengevaluasi tingkat tutupan vegetasi. Hasil analisis mengidentifikasi bahwa nilai NDBI tinggi terkonsentrasi pada kawasan permukiman padat di sepanjang sungai dan jaringan jalan utama, yang mengindikasikan dominasi lahan terbangun dan minimnya area resapan air. Sementara itu, nilai NDVI yang rendah pada wilayah yang sama menunjukkan rendahnya tutupan vegetasi yang berperan sebagai penyerapan alami. Berdasarkan hasil validasi lapangan dan overlay peta KRB Kota Samarinda, mengonfirmasi bahwa genangan banjir terjadi terutama di sepanjang Jalan Padat Karya dan Jalan Jakarta, Kelurahan Loa Bakung yang wilayah dengan intensitas pemanfaatan lahan tinggi serta rendahnya ruang terbuka hijau. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa pola dan intensitas penggunaan lahan, terutama konversi lahan menjadi area terbangun dengan vegetasi minim, secara signifikan berkontribusi terhadap meningkatnya risiko genangan banjir di Sub DAS Loa Bakung, Kota Samarinda.

Abstract

Landslides and soil movement frequently occur in Sebulu District, especially on the main access road. This study aims to analyze the vulnerability to landslides in Sebulu District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Geographic Information System (GIS) approaches, with verification through the geoelectric method. The advantage of this integrated approach is its ability to combine multi-criteria spatial modeling with physical validation of subsurface conditions, thereby producing a more comprehensive and reliable analysis. The secondary data used includes geological information, rainfall, slope gradient, soil type, and land cover. By applying AHP weighting, landslide vulnerability values were obtained with "low," "medium," and "high" categories, covering areas of 230.31 ha, 301.99 ha, and 309.30 ha, respectively. Verification using the geoelectric method identified a weak zone with a thickness of 1–5 meters, which could trigger soil movement towards the southwest. These results provide a clearer understanding of landslide-prone areas, which can serve as the basis for early detection strategies in disaster mitigation.Keywords: susceptibility zones, landslide, geographic information system, AHP, geoelectric resistivity.
