Abstract

Consumer trust in Islamic banks is currently declining. Islamic banks are perceived to be the same as conventional banks due to various cases about Islamic banks reported by the mass media. The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of the credibility of online news, the quality of social media content, and the variety of print media on the level of trust of BSI customers. This study uses an associative quantitative approach with simple random sampling techniques. A total of 121 respondents were selected from a total population of 480 using Slovin's formula and analyzed with SEM-PLS. The research results show that the credibility of online news, the quality of social media content, and the variety of print media have a positive and significant impact on customer trust levels. The negative stigma of society is growing stronger due to online news that is reinforced by social media and print media. Practical implications include more effective marketing and communication strategies to maintain customer trust amidst the challenges of the digital era.

Abstract

This article examines the prohibition of striking the face from the perspective of ḥadīth using the ma‘ānī al-ḥadīth approach and its relevance to Mandar culture. The objectives of this study are to examine the authenticity of the ḥadīth concerning the prohibition of striking the face, analyze its semantic meanings, and explain its relevance to Mandar cultural values. This research employs a qualitative method based on library research. The analytical framework applies the ma‘ānī al-ḥadīth approach through three interpretive methods: textual, intertextual, and contextual interpretation, integrated with a cultural studies approach. In addition, ḥadīth takhrīj methods are employed to trace and assess the authenticity of the ḥadīth under study. The findings indicate that the ḥadīth transmitted through the sanad of Imām Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal is classified as ṣaḥīḥ li-dhātihi, as it fulfills all criteria of authenticity. Textually and intertextually, the ḥadīth demonstrates a firm prohibition against all forms of violence, while contextually it encompasses both physical and verbal violence. This prohibition is consistent with Mandar cultural values that uphold siri’, emphasizing the protection of human dignity and honor.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contribution of an academic visit conducted by the Scientific Consortium of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung to the strengthening of knowledge integration, institutional development, and academic collaboration at UIN Alauddin Makassar. Key concepts employed in this study include knowledge integration, higher education benchmarking, epistemic networking, and Islamic higher education governance. This research adopts a qualitative case study approach, utilizing field observations, focus group discussions, limited interviews, and institutional document analysis. The scope of the study covers the Faculty of Ushuluddin, the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M), and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) at UIN Alauddin Makassar. The findings reveal that knowledge integration at UIN Alauddin Makassar has moved beyond conceptual formulation toward institutionalization, as reflected in integrative curricula, research governance, laboratory development, and value-based professional education. Academic visits function as an effective mechanism for institutional learning and epistemic reflection, fostering the consolidation of integrative paradigms and strategic institutional development within Islamic higher education. Key challenges include limitations in research infrastructure, disparities in human resource capacity, and the rigidity of national accreditation and professional standards. This study recommends strengthening inter-institutional research collaboration, developing sustainable benchmarking models, and deepening governance-based knowledge integration. This study contributes empirically to the literature on knowledge integration in Islamic higher education by demonstrating how integrative paradigms are operationalized through institutional policies, academic practices, and benchmarking-based collaboration.

Abstract

Misogynistic readings of hadith have significantly shaped gendered norms in segments of Muslim societies, contributing to restrictions on women’s leadership, religious authority, mobility, and marital agency. Such interpretations often rely on textual literalism detached from historical and socio-cultural contexts. This study critically re-examines selected hadiths frequently invoked to legitimize gender hierarchy through a hermeneutical framework. Adopting a qualitative design with a textual-analytical approach, the research analyzes narrations contained in the canonical collections of Muhammad al-Bukhari, Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj, Abu Dawud, Al-Tirmidhi, and Ibn Majah. The study integrates classical hadith scholarship with contemporary hermeneutical theory, emphasizing contextualization (asbāb al-wurūd), socio-historical analysis, and the ethical objectives (maqāṣid) underlying prophetic traditions. The findings demonstrate that many narrations commonly categorized as “misogynistic” are context-dependent and descriptive rather than universally prescriptive. Reports concerning women’s political leadership are shown to be situational (casuistic) responses to specific historical circumstances; narrations about a wife’s prostration signify moral respect rather than ontological subordination; traditions related to women leading congregational prayer admit interpretive plurality within juristic discourse; and reports restricting women’s travel without a mahram reflect concerns of security and social order in particular historical settings. Similarly, narrations regarding marital refusal are better understood as ethical exhortations promoting conjugal harmony rather than instruments of coercion. This study argues that a hermeneutically informed methodology offers a critical corrective to reductionist literalism in hadith interpretation. By situating prophetic traditions within their discursive and historical horizons while engaging contemporary ethical concerns, the approach contributes to a more equitable and context-responsive framework for gender discourse in Islamic studies.

Abstract

The sharia banking main characteristics provide alternative systems by which banks and customers share profits with specific emphasis on fair treatment, ethical investments, and kinship relationship in the production process and avoidance of speculation. Measuring sharia banking performance by applying CAMELS is considered weak in describing non-financial aspects, which shows sharia ethics and the spirituality of sharia banking. Therefore, the ANGELS method can be considered as an alternative one in assessing sharia banking performance. This research applies Bayani, Burhan, and infant epistemological approaches. The result shows that the implementation of sharia principles in sharia banking practice in Makassar still need sharia literacy awareness among sharia banking practitioners since sharia banking is a potential market in the future.

Abstract

Family Resilience has gained increasing scholarly attention amid growing economic uncertainty and financial vulnerability. This study aims to reconceptualize financial literacy as a pillar of family resilience from a Hadith perspective, addressing a gap in mainstream literature that often overlooks ethical and religious foundations. This research uses an interpretative qualitative method, analyzed using an integration-interconnection approach by Amin Abdullah, namely analyzing the Prophet's hadiths regarding household financial management, then integrating them with social sciences, such as economics and finance, and Islamic law. The findings demonstrate a strong convergence between prophetic ethical principles and core indicators of modern financial literacy. The Hadith emphasis on responsibility for family provision aligns with budgeting practices and prioritization of essential needs, thereby supporting household economic stability. Teachings on moderation in consumption foster adaptive and sustainable financial attitudes, contributing to long-term resilience. Prophetic warnings against excessive debt reflect an early awareness of structural financial risks that contemporary studies associate with family stress, conflict, and economic fragility. Furthermore, ethical guidance on the use of wealth cultivates value-oriented financial behavior that enhances not only economic resilience but also social, emotional, and moral well-being within households. Overall, the study shows that Hadith-based financial literacy operates as a moral–financial capability that integrates technical financial competence with ethical responsibility. Thus, this research strengthens the theory of integration-interconnection of hadith studies with social sciences, especially economics and Islamic family law, which offers a conceptual basis for the development of family policies and contextual and sustainable financial literacy education.

Abstract

The crisis of confidence in the credit rating agency forced Islamic financing institutions to apply risk measurement methods independently and renewed the study of credit risk measurement. Moreover, this research also discusses mashlaha (public interest) in measuring financing risk. This research uses a mixed method approach, combining quantitative methods to measure risk by utilizing CreditRisk+, and qualitative methods in analyzing mashlaha in these measurements. This study revealed that CreditRisk+ is able to measure financing risk accurately. This study also found that there is mashlaha as part of maqashid al-sharia in risk measurement, namely 1) Tahdzib al-Fard, that makes a financial institution capable of independently measuring the risk of its own financing; 2) Iqamah al-Adl, independent measurement will create information justice by comparing measurement results both internally and externally. 3) Mashlaha itself, with internal risk measurement, will reduce systemic risk. The implications of this study is the use of mashlaha in analyzing financing risk provides more stringent prudential in the measurement of financing risk.
