Abstract

The purpose of this study was to measure the effectiveness of the use of Arabic textbook in improving the academic achievement of students from the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Department at the Tarbiyah Faculty of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung in the field of Arabic learning. The textbook was developed with Dick and Carey's development model that was adapted and modified by Lawrence Cunning Ham. Next, the textbook assessment was carried out with assessment instruments made by the National Education Standards Board (BNSP). This study used the quasi-experimental method with data obtained through pre-test and post-test and analyzed with T-test and Anova. The results of this study indicated that the average pre-test score of Arabic learning from Mathematics Education students was 37.00 (low), Physics Education 32.31 (low), Chemistry Education 33.17 (low), and Biology Education 28.53 (low). Meanwhile, the average post-test score of Arabic learning from Mathematics Education students was 79.74 (high), Physics Education 81.93 (high), Chemistry Education 80.43 (high), and Biology Education 81.72 (high). In general, students from the said departments experienced a high increase in the Arabic learning outcomes with an average increase of more than 0.70 (70%). This study implies that the use of a science-based textbook integrated with the verses of the Qur'an is very effective in improving academic achievement in Arabic subjects.

Abstract

This study departed from the notion that the meanings of words in the Qur’an are bounded by the context. Words of similar meaning in general actually have significant differences. Words related to the five senses, for example, in the Qur'an are interpreted differently according to the context of the sentence. The use of the word fi’il related to the process of seeing are abshara, ra’a, nadzara, and anasa; related to the hearing processare, are sami’a, anshata, ashgha; related to the process of feeling, are dzaqa, tha’amaandakala, and relating to the fingering, which allegedly lamisa and massa are assumed to have different meanings based on its context. To covert the meanings, semantic approach in content analysis method was used. The implications are the development of the five sense competence is very important to do to lead people to have perfect personality.

Abstract

Sharf is one of the most important branches of knowledge in Arabic, by which a learner can know and understand the form of a word, its origin, its changes, and its meaning, so that it is hoped that he will be able to understand the Arabic text he reads and hears. The substance of the Sharf is to discuss the forms of words with the aim of knowing the meaning of each of these word changes. The goal of learning Sharaf is to teach students about changes in the form of a word to another word to find out its true meaning. Sharf science is one of the scientific principles in Arabic which is one of the media (intermediaries) to master language skills. Therefore, the Sharf should be taught by paying attention to the following matters: 1) Teaching the Sharf science is not a goal (learning the science of Sharf for the Sharf) but as a instrumen (tool) to get competence and language skills, 2) Teaching the Sharf requires a lot of practice and not only focus on teaching the rules and forgetting the basic function, 3) it must be taught in stages according to the students' abilities, for example from Mujarrad to Mazid and practice in perfect sentences (Jumlah Mufidah).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertolak dari banyaknya penggunaan metode-metode  dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab  di  Indonesia  dari  dulu  sampai  sekarang.  Hal  itu  nampak  dari  berbagai metode yang digunakan dalam pengajaran Bahasa arab di sekolah dan pesantren, bahkan perguruan  tinggi. Metode  kaidah  terjemah  paling  banyak  digunakan  dalam  pengajaran bahasa  Arab.  Pada penelitian  ini  peneliti  akan  memaparkan  metode  mubâsyirah  dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab yang lebih didasarkan pada belajar bahasa Arab sama dengan belajar   bahasa   ibu,   yakni  penggunaan   bahasa   secara   langsung   dan   intensif   dalam komunikasi. Penelitian ini  bertujuan untuk mengetahui   hal-hal yang berkaitan dengan metode  langsung  (tharîqah mubâsyirah)  dalam  pembelajaran  bahasa  Arab  dan  langkah- langkah teknis yang dilakukan dalam proses belajar mengajar bahasa Arab . Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode analisis teori. Adapun hasil penelitiannya bahwa  pendekatan  yang  digunakan  pada metode  ini  adalah  pendekatan  komunikatif, sedangkan   metode   dan   teknik  pembelajarannya   lebih   mengutamakan   kemampuan berbicara, bukan kemampuan menulis dan guru memperkenalkan suatu kata atau frasa baru dengan mendemontransikan maknanya melalui  pemakaian realia,  gambar-gambar, atau pantomim.

Abstract

Reading is a language skill through the interpretation of written symbols into comprehensible readable meanings in that the skill appears in the reader's interaction with the readable text, its understanding, criticism, taste, and use in solving the problems encountered by the reader and its use in the behavior it produces during reading or after completion. To achieve this result, a strategy is needed for each individual and differs from one another. In order to upgrade the ability of this skill in the least time and effort, Stephen's theory (STIFIn) provided an effective method of learning according to the most prominent intelligence engine that will help the individual more effective and efficient. By learning how to learn about this theory, you will also know the strategy of good reading skill that achieves the goal of this reading, and the researcher will search for how Stephen's strategies of reading skills, especially for the sense of the relaxed and diastolic feeling.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the development of language skills in Arabic skills training activities organized by the Syamsul Ulum Muhammadiyah Bandung Islamic Boarding School in collaboration with the Arabic Language Education Study Program at UIN Bandung. This research is qualitative research with a comparative descriptive method. The descriptive method is used to describe the satisfaction of the students and the input given regarding language skills training in 2021 and 2022 based on facts that occur in the field. Sources of research data are divided into two, namely primary and secondary. Primary data was obtained directly through the principal source, namely students as research subjects, through observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. Meanwhile, secondary data was obtained through literature studies related to the themes discussed in this study. Based on this explanation, the research steps were carried out as follows (1) data collection, (2) data presentation, (3) data analysis, and (4) concluding the analysis that has been carried out. The results showed that based on the results of the teacher assessment questionnaire filled out by students, the lowest percentage was 81% in 2021 and 83.8% in 2022 for mahārah istimā’ training, while the highest percentage in 2021 reached 85.4% and 87% for 2022 in training mahārah kalām. Students respond to suggestions and criticisms for teachers, which become material for discussion and evaluation for the study program so that they can provide better training in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of code switching and code mixing in Instagram content by Sehand Azhar, especially in the form of video reels, to understand its function and meaning in digital communication. The method used is a descriptive qualitative case study with the technique of simak libat cakap. Data were taken from 15 video reels watched by more than 20,000 people, and analyzed using a summative approach to identify elements of code-switching and code-mixing. The results show that the use of code-switching and code-mixing in Azhar's content enriches expression and strengthens social identity between speakers, with some Arabic elements that are difficult to translate into Indonesian, thus adding aesthetic and functional value in the pesantren context. The analysis also reveals that this phenomenon is supported by the multilingual ability of the speakers and the appeal of Arabic among the audience, most of whom have a pesantren background. The implications of this study show that code-switching and code-mixing in social media not only strengthen social relations, but also contribute to the preservation of pesantren language and culture, and open up opportunities for further research on the impact of multilingualism in digital communication. Abstract

This study analyzes Indonesian language interference in Arabic acquisition among students at Ma’had Lughah and identifies its causes and solutions. The interference includes errors in phonology, morphology, and syntax, mainly due to geographical background, limited Arabic interaction, dominance of Indonesian structures, and lack of self-directed learning. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with observation, interviews, and text analysis, the study involved 23 students from various regions, including Jabodetabek, Bandung Raya, and outside Java. Seventy-two errors were found in reading texts, such as letter substitutions, omissions, and incorrect harakat pronunciations. Common mistakes include pronouncing ‘ain as hamzah and qaf as kaf. The main cause of interference is the dominance of Indonesian as the everyday language and medium of instruction, influencing Arabic patterns. Proposed solutions include regional-based phonology training, more daily Arabic interaction, additional tajwid classes, and enhancing self-directed learning using digital media. The study provides insights and suggests strategies to improve Arabic proficiency.المستخلص: تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تحليل تدخل اللغة الإندونيسية في اكتساب اللغة العربية بين الطلاب في معهد اللغة وتحديد الأسباب والحلول. تتضمن التدخلات الأخطاء في الصوتيات والصرف والنحو، ويرجع ذلك أساسًا إلى الخلفية الجغرافية، وقلة التفاعل بالعربية، وهيمنة بنية اللغة الإندونيسية، ونقص التعلم الذاتي. استخدمت الدراسة منهجًا وصفيًا نوعيًا مع الملاحظة، والمقابلات، وتحليل النصوص، وشارك فيها 23 طالبًا من مناطق متنوعة مثل جابوديتابيك، بانجونغ رايا، وخارج جزيرة جاوة. تم تحديد 72 خطأ في قراءة النصوص، مثل استبدال الحروف، وحذف الحروف، والأخطاء في نطق الحركات. تشمل الأخطاء الشائعة نطق عين بهمزات ونطق قاف بـ كاف. السبب الرئيسي للتدخل هو سيطرة اللغة الإندونيسية كلغة يومية ووسيلة تعليمية، مما يؤثر على استخدام اللغة العربية. تشمل الحلول المقترحة تدريبًا صوتيًا بناءً على الخلفية الإقليمية، وزيادة التفاعل اليومي بالعربية، ودروسًا إضافية في التجويد، وتعزيز التعلم الذاتي باستخدام الوسائط الرقمية.

Abstract

This study addresses a pressing issue in physics education: the underutilization of laboratory assistants as facilitators of conceptual learning, particularly in experimental settings. Despite their vital role, the impact of their 21st-century competencies, known as the 4C skills, on students' experimental comprehension remains underexplored. This study investigates the influence of laboratory assistants' 4C competencies on Students' Experimental Comprehension (SEC) in Basic Physics Practicum I and II at the Physics Education Study Program, UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. Employing a quantitative quasi-experimental approach, data were collected from 29 laboratory assistants and 401 students between 2020 and 2024. Validated instruments, including written tests, structured observation sheets, and documentation of practicum results, ensured methodological rigor. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that the 4C competencies significantly predicted SEC (R² = 0.869), with creativity (β = 0.461) and critical thinking (β = 0.350) emerging as the most influential dimensions. Pearson correlation further confirmed strong positive relationships between each competency and SEC. The findings highlight the critical role of soft skills in laboratory-based science education, suggesting that structured training in 4C competencies can substantially enhance experimental learning outcomes. This research offers new insights for curriculum developers, educational policymakers, and laboratory supervisors who aim to strengthen practicum quality by empowering laboratory assistants as active pedagogical agents.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of Blooket, a gamified learning platform, in enhancing students’ mastery of Arabic syntax (tarkīb) at Darussalam Islamic Junior High School, Wanaraja, Garut. Employing a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental Non-Equivalent Pre-test and Post-test Control Group Design, the research involved two groups: an experimental class (n = 30) using Blooket and a control class (n = 28) receiving conventional instruction. Data were collected through pre- and post-tests focusing on sentence construction, syntactic recognition, and transformations of jumlah ismiyyah and jumlah fi'liyyah. The data were analyzed using t-tests after confirming normality and homogeneity through Shapiro-Wilk and Levene’s tests. Results indicate a significant improvement in the experimental group’s mean score from 37.67 to 72.40, while the control group’s score increased marginally from 40.00 to 43.39. The independent t-test showed a statistically significant difference in post-test scores (p < 0.05) favoring the experimental group. The experimental group’s normalized gain (N-gain) averaged 0.54 (moderate), compared to 0.02 (low) in the control group. These findings suggest that Blooket can effectively increase student engagement and syntactic understanding in Arabic grammar. However, the low-to-moderate N-gain also highlights the need for prolonged intervention or blended strategies for deeper conceptual mastery. Future research is recommended to investigate the long-term effects of Blooket on various aspects of Arabic language proficiency, including speaking and writing skills. Studies should also examine the integration of Blooket with other pedagogical models to enhance critical thinking, collaboration, and deeper syntactic competence across diverse student populations.
