Abstract

This study aims to describe the motivation of learning mathematics experienced by students in online learning during the covid 19 pandemics. This research uses a descriptive quantitative approach. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 7 Rambah Hilir involving 34 students. Data collection techniques in this study through filling out questionnaires. The results of this study showed that the motivation to learn mathematics students analyzed was an average intrinsic indicator with an average of 73,67% good categories, extrinsic indicators with an average of 67,21% good categories, curiosity with an average of 59,80% good categories, independence with an average of 69,21% good categories, and readiness with an average of 72,34% good categories. The average overall motivational indicator for learning mathematics in grade VIII of SMP Negeri 7 Rambah Hilir in online learning during the covid 19 pandemic was as low as 68,44 % in the good category. However, there are still things that need to be improved to improve the overall.

Abstract

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) telah menjadi fondasi utama dalam perkembangan teknologi, ekonomi, dan inovasi global. Saat ini, perlunya STEM dalam masyarakat menjadi semakin nyata, karena perubahan dunia yang semakin cepat dan kompleks memerlukan pemahaman mendalam tentang ilmu-ilmu ini. Dalam konteks pendidikan, kebutuhan akan STEM semakin mendesak. Generasi muda harus siap menghadapi tantangan masa depan yang semakin kompleks sehingga membutuhkan keterampilan STEM yang kuat. Pendidikan STEM tidak hanya mengajarkan siswa tentang ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi, tetapi juga membentuk pemikiran kritis, problem solving, dan kreativitas yang lebih dikenal dengan istilah kemampuan abad 21. Ini adalah keterampilan yang sangat dibutuhkan di pasar kerja modern. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilakukan ini berfokus pada penyelenggaraan workshop berbasis STEM bagi forum Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) matematika tingkat SMP di Kota Bandung, dengan tujuan mengatasi sejumlah permasalahan yang meliputi kurangnya pemahaman dan praktik STEM di kalangan guru matematika, keterbatasan penyebaran hasil pelatihan, dan kurangnya motivasi guru untuk meningkatkan kompetensinya. Workshop ini memberikan pemahaman tentang STEM, pendekatan EDP, serta contoh praktik STEM dalam pembelajaran matematika. Metode kegiatan pengabdian berupa pelatihan dengan metode ceramah, tanya jawab, dan praktik. Tahapan kegiatan mencakup perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian berupa peningkatan pemahaman guru tentang STEM, EDP dan praktik STEM dalam pembelajaran matematika. Capaian ini terlihat dari antusiasme guru pada saat kegiatan praktik dan dari hasil refleksi.

Abstract

Bahan ajar yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa dapat membantu kelancaran proses perkuliahan berjalan dengan efektif. Kalkulus Peubah banyak merupakan satu mata kuliah wajib yang harus diambil oleh mahasiswa program studi pendidikan matematika. Berkenaan dengan itu bahan ajar menjadi komponen yang penting diperlukan dalam proses perkuliahan. Mata kuliah ini berisi tentang sistem koordinat, fungsi dua peubah yang memerlukan kemampuan berpikir tingkat lanjut. Oleh karena itu diperlukan suatu bahan ajar yang membantu siswa dalam memvisualisasikan materi yang abstrak. Bahan ajar yang ada dan digunakan dalam perkuliahan selama ini merupakan bahan ajar berupa buku teks yang merupakan buku referensi yang beredar dipasaran. Berkenaan dengan itu diperlukan bahan ajar yang disusun oleh dosen dan disesuaikan dengan tingkat kebutuhan mahasiswa yang dilengkapi dengan media visualisasi berbasis teknologi. Tujuan penelitin ini adalah untuk mengentahui kebutuhan bahan ajar yang dikembangkan berbantuan software geogebra. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa pendidikan matematika semester lima Universitas Pasir Pengaraian. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan angket analisis kebutuhan dan observasi langsung dalam perkuliahan. Hasil angket menunjukkan diperlukannya bahan ajar berbasis teknologi yang mampu memvisualisasikan materi pembelajaran dimana terdapat 50% responden diperlukannya media visualisasi dalam pembelajaran, selanjutnya 75% responden setuju dan 12,5% sangat setuju digunakannya media berbasis teknologi, dan 66,7% responden sangat setujua, 33,3 % setuju digunakannya aplikasi matematika, yaitu software geogebra dalam pembelajaran. Hal ini menunjukkan dibutuhkannya bahan ajar yang berbantuan software geogebra bagi mahasiswa pendidikan matematika universitas pasir pengaraian.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pembelajaran matematika dasar melalui kegiatan lesson study bagi mahasiswa pendidikan biologi universitas pasir pengaraian. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di program studi Pendidikan Biologi Universitas Pasir Pengaraian dengan subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa S-1 yang mengambil mata kuliah matematika dasar tahun akademik 2019/2020 semester ganjil. Pelaksanaan penelitian menggunakan tahapan plan, do dan see. Instrument penelitian berupa lembar observasi, rekaman video dan hasil pekerjaan mahasiswa berupa lembar kerja mahasiswa. Data hasil observasi dianalisis secara deskriptif, data hasil belajar matematis peserta didik dianalisis untuk mengetahui proses pembelajaran matematika dasar melalui lesson study. Pelaksanaan Lesson Study di perkuliahan Matematika Dasar secara garis besar berjalan dengan baik. Pelaksanaan pembelajaran berjalan sesuai dengan yang direncanakan. Selama proses pembelajaran, mahasiswa terlibat aktif dalam mempelajari materi perkuliahan. Hasil belajar yang diperoleh dari turnamen diakhir pelajaran menunjukkan tercapainya tujuan pembelajaran. Pelaksanaan lesson study dapat memberikan wadah untuk para pendidikan saling berbagi pengalaman tentang praktek terbaik dalam pembelajaran. Kolaborasi antar dosen dalam mempersiapkan dan melaksanakan pembelajaran memberikan hasil yang baik dalam proses dan hasil belajar mahasiswa. Rangkaian kegiatan pembelajaran tersebut ternyata dapat meningkatkan kualitas proses pembelajaran dan juga pemahaman mahasiswa dalam memahami materi perkuliahan. Walaupun demikian, masih terdapat beberapa perbaikan yang harus dilakukan untuk kedepannya

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Think Pair Share (TPS) cooperative learning model on the mathematical reasoning abilities of seventh-grade students at MTs Bahrul Ulum. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a Two-Group Posttest Only design. The population consists of all seventh-grade students at MTs Bahrul Ulum. Samples were taken using simple random sampling, resulting in class VII B as the experimental group and class VII A as the control group. The experimental class used the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model, while the control class used conventional learning methods. Hypothesis testing was conducted using the Mann Whitney test because the normality test prerequisite showed that the data were not normally distributed. The calculation results showed Zcount>Ztabel, which is 3.85 > 1.96 with an alpha value of 0.05, leading to the rejection of H0​. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model has an effect on the mathematical reasoning abilities of seventh-grade students at MTs Bahrul Ulum.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach influences the mathematical reasoning ability of 8th-grade students at SMP Negeri 5 Ujungbatu. The research design used is a Quasi-Experiment with a Two Group Posttest Only design. The population in this study consists of the 8th-grade classes at SMP Negeri 5 Ujungbatu. Sampling was done using Random Sampling, selecting two classes as sample groups. Class VIII.1 was the experimental group, and Class VIII.3 was the control group. The instrument in this study is a test of mathematical reasoning ability given to the sample classes. The normality test, conducted using the Lilliefors test, showed that both Class VIII.1 and VIII.3 had non-normal distributions. Based on the hypothesis test using the Mann-Whitney test, the calculated value (t count) was 228, and the tabulated value (t table) was 87. This indicates that t count ≥ t tabel, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis (H0). Therefore, it can be concluded that the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach influences the mathematical reasoning ability of 8th-grade students at SMP Negeri 5 Ujungbatu.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Guided Discovery-based Student Activity Sheet for seventh-grade students in junior high school, focusing on Algebraic Form material and ensuring its validity. The research follows the Research and Development method, consisting of three main stages: defining, designing, and developing. The instrument used in this study is a validation questionnaire. Based on the validity test of the Guided Discovery-based Student Activity Sheet conducted by two validators with several revisions and improvements, the average validation score obtained was 3.03, indicating a highly valid category. Thus, the Guided Discovery-based Student Activity Sheet for Algebraic Form material, intended for seventh-grade students in junior high school, is valid.

Abstract

This study aims to produce valid Student Activity Sheets (LAS) in mathematics based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) for prisms and pyramids. The research adopts a Research and Development approach consisting of three stages: defining (define), designing (design), and developing (develop). The instrument used in this study is a validation questionnaire. Through validity testing conducted with two validators and several revisions and improvements, the average score of the LAS validation results was 3.64, categorized as highly valid. Thus, the LAS developed with the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach in this study has a very good level of validity. This research contributes significantly to developing and improving mathematics learning in the classroom. CTL-based SAS for prisms and pyramids is expected to enhance students' interest and understanding of mathematical concepts contextually, enabling them to relate their learning to everyday life situations. Moreover, the LAS development method used in this study can also be adapted to produce CTL-based student worksheets for other mathematical topics.

Abstract

This study used the guided discovery learning model to (1) determine students' mathematics learning outcomes in class VIII probability material at SMP Negeri Wonggeduku. (2) to determine the effectiveness of the guided discovery learning model on students' mathematics learning outcomes in class VIII opportunity materials at SMP Negeri Wonggeduku. The type of research used is a quasi-experimental or (quasi-experimental) research design with a nonequivalent posttest-only control group design. The number of samples in the study was 50, divided into 25 samples for the experimental class and 25 for the control class. The sampling technique is random sampling. The data collection technique is a written test. There are two data analysis techniques, namely descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The descriptive analysis results showed that the experimental class's average learning outcomes, with a value of 70,83, were higher than the control class, with a value of 63,06. In contrast, the results of the inferential analysis obtained the value of t count = 2,178 > tel 1,677. So, the research test shows that ho is rejected, H0 is rejected, and H1 is accepted. Namely, the average mathematics learning outcomes of students who receive guided discovery learning models are more effective than students who receive conventional learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the application of problem-based learning models on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities based on the research results. The method used is a meta-analysis by analyzing the research results in articles published nationally relating to applying problem-based learning models to increase students' problem-solving skills at the high school level. The samples analyzed were thirteen articles from nationally published journals published in the 2015-2020 range at the junior and senior high school levels, which discussed increasing students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The instrument is a coding sheet or coding data that filters data and journal information. Based on the overall effect size analysis results, it is obtained that the average effect size value is in a large category. The findings from the analysis also prove that the problem-based learning model for mathematical problem-solving abilities is influential and effective in terms of educational level, subject matter and learning media used. The result shows that in this study, the problem-based learning model is more effectively used in improving mathematical problem-solving skills than conventional learning models.
