Implementing Controlled Composition to Improve Vocabulary Mastery of EFL Students Juriah, Juriah

Abstract

The purposes of this study was to know how (1) Controlled composition teaching techniques implemented by the English teacher at SDN 027 Samarinda to improve vocabulary mastery, and (2) Controlled composition teaching techniques improves vocabulary mastery of the sixth grade students of SDN 027 Samarinda. This research used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) as the research design. The subject of the research is the sixth grade students in the 2013/2014 academic year that consists of 43 students. The instruments employed in this study were observation checklist, field note, and vocabulary test. The result of the research showed that in cycle 1 the students’ achievement did not fulfill the minimal criteria of success. However the result of the cycle 1 was better than the preliminary study. The criteria of success did not fulfill in cycle one, some enhancement of the implementation of Controlled Composition were made in cycle two in the form of: Instruct the students bring dictionary, give more examples English sentences, guide the students find the mining of words in the dictionary and write a paragraph, more motivate the students and preparing a media/ picture .Meanwhile the students ’achievement in cycle two showed that fulfilled the criteria of success. Based on the findings and discussion, the conclusions : Firstly, Controlled composition was implemented well by the teacher of SDN 027 Samarinda. Controlled composition was implemented and gave impacts in: (a) increasing the students’ vocabulary mastery significantly, (b) making the students able to spell the vocabularies, (c) making the students understand the meaning English words, and (d) making the students able to pronounce English words quite good. Secondly, Controlled composition improved the students’ vocabulary mastery; it was only 20.9% of the students who achieved the English passing grade in the preliminary study, but then 81.39% of the students achieved the English passing grade in the end of cycle 2.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis bagaimana keputusan pembelian pelanggan Roxy Coffee Rantauprapat. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah pelanggan Roxy Coffee Rantauprapat. Sebanyak 96 responden diperoleh dengan menggunakan rumus Lemeshow dalam pendekatan pengambilan sampel. Skala likert, dokumentasi, dan observasi digunakan sebagai metode pengumpulan data. Analisis regresi linier berganda juga menggunakan uji asumsi tradisional, yang meliputi uji normalitas, heteroskedastisitas, dan multikolinearitas. Uji F, uji t, dan R2 digunakan untuk menguji hipotesis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa digital marketing, persepsi konsumen, store atmosphere, word of mouth semuanya secara signifikan dan positif mempengaruhi keputusan pembelian konsumen.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Typhoid fever is a disease caused by systemic infection by Salmonella typhi while Salmonella paratyphi can also be caused by infection by animals Objective: The purpose of this nursing care is expected to be able to understand, explain and apply evidence-based practice in professional nursing, whether there is an effect of warm water compresses to reduce typhoid fever in preschool children at Hospital, X. Research Method: The evidence-based clinical practice design used is Quasy Experiment. Namely by conducting intervention and control groups. There are two intervention groups, namely 2 groups that are given warm water compresses to reduce typhoid fever in preschool children for 4 consecutive days and are carried out 2 times a day. Results: The average body temperature after warm compresses showed a significant difference with the control group with a p value (0.032 or <0.05). Conclusion: which means that there is a difference in the effect of giving warm compresses to the intervention group compared to the control group with a p value (0.032), or there is a significant effect of giving warm compresses to children with typhoid fever as indicated by a p value <0.05. Keywords: Warm Water Compress, Typhoid Fever, Preschool Children  ABSTRAK Demam  tifoid merupakan penyakit yang disebabkan adanya infeksi sistemik oleh Salmonella typhi sedangkan Salmonella paratyphi dapat disebabkan juga infeksi oleh hewan Tujuan penelitian ini menerapkan praktik berbasis bukti dalam keperawatan professional, apakah ada pengaruh kompres air hangat untuk menurunkan demam tifoidpada anak usia prasekolah di Rumah  Sakit X. Metode Penelitian mengunakan desain evidence based clinical practiceyang digunakan adalah Quasy Experiment. Yaitu dengan melakukan intervensi dan kelompok kontrol. Terdapat dua kelompok intervensi, yaitu 2 kelompok yang diberikan kompres air hangat untuk menurunkan demam tifoid pada anak usia prasekolah selama 4  hari berturut-turut dan dilakukan 2 kali sehari. Hasil:  rerata suhu tubuh setelah dilakukan kompres hangat menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan dengan kelompok kontrol dengan hasil nilai p (0.032 atau < 0.05). Kesimpulan yang artinya ada pengaruh perbedaan pemberian kompres hangat pada kelompok intervensi dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol dengan nilai p (0.032), atau terdapat pengaruh pemberian kompres hangat pada anak demam typoid secara signifikan yang ditunjukkan dengan nilai p < 0.05. Kata Kunci: Kompres Air Hangat, Demam Tifoid, Anak Usia Prasekolah

Abstract

In digital era, students are expected to have 21st century skills to face global challenges. One of the learning models that support 21st century skills is Project Based Learning (PjBL). This research is descriptive research to describe the implementation of mathematics learning with the PjBL model in the Basic Statistics course. Fourteen students who took the Basic Statistics course were the subjects in this study. The project is a Basic Statistics project that integrates data presentation material, frequency distribution, centering measures, and data distribution measures. Data were collected using interviews, observations, self-assessment, oral presentation, peer review and final report. The implementation of learning is carried out online using google classroom, google form, zoom meeting and whatsapp group. The results of the implementation of mathematics learning with the PjBL model in the Basic Statistics course can be said to be good with an average score of 82.5. Of the fourteen students who worked on the project, five students or 36% had completed the project very well. A total of nine students or 64% have completed the math project well from the stages of planning, implementation and collecting reports. In this study, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) plays a very important role in the stages of design, implementation, and final report collection in project completion.

Abstract

Matematika memainkan peran penting dalam dunia pendidikan. Namun, seringkali pembelajaran matematika di sekolah menghadapi kendala, terutama dalam pemahaman Pola Bilangan. Pandangan siswa yang menganggap matematika sulit berdampak negatif pada hasil belajar mereka. Oleh karena itu, penting bagi guru untuk menciptakan suasana belajar yang baik dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang efektif adalah problem posing, siswa menjadi aktif dan dapat meningkatkan pemahaman mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh model problem posing terhadap hasil belajar matematika pada materi Pythagoras di kelas VIII SMP Negeri 20 Palembang. Kelas VIII.2 sebagai kelompok eksperimen yang menerapkan model problem posing, sementara kelas VIII.1 menjadi kelompok kontrol dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran ekspositori. Data diuji dengan menggunakan uji-t. Analisis data menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan antara kedua kelompok. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran problem posing memiliki pengaruh positif yang signifikan terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa pada materi pythagoras di kelas VIII SMP Negeri 20 Palembang
