Abstract

Characteristics of a nation are reflected in its people. Character values need to be implemented by society in everyday life because with characteristic that match with personality of nation, make us become civilized nation. Education is a way to instill the values of character to some people, especially learners who are the next generation of the nation. In each subject, character values can be applied, not least in math learning. Moreover, the planting of this character value is a government program that is illustrated and implemented in the curriculum used in Indonesia today. Implementation of character values in the process of learning mathematics can bring socio mathematical norms in it. Thus, the values of characters or characteristics that are formed not only within the learners (individual) but also formed from their social interaction obtained in the process of learning mathematics.

Abstract

This study aims to support students’ proportional reasoning in comparison problems using Palembang culture as context and PMRI approached. Six students of 7th grade were participated. We used design research as research approach, a Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) was develop and a set of activities using Palembang culture as context, such as ketek’ fare, empek-empek’ price, lempok’ price. Theoretical development is driven by an iterative process of designing instructional activities, performing teaching experiments and conducting retrospective analysis in order to contribute to Local Instruction Theory (LIT) to support students’ proportional reasoning in comparison problem. Data collected by making video recording about actual teaching and learning in classroom, collecting students’ worksheet, giving pretest and posttest, interviewing students. The designed HLT compared Actual Learning Trajectory (ALT) during pilot experiment to analyze whether the students learned or did not learn from what we had designed in the instructional sequence. Retrospective analysis of pilot experiment showed that by using Palembang culture as context can support students’ proportional reasoning in middle school to solve comparison problems.

Abstract

Abstract— One of the pedagogic competence of teachers was to utilize information and communication technology for learning purposes, such as making computer-based learning media. This study aimed to produce a product in the form of a visual and audio mathematics video made by FKIP students. The learning model used was Project Based Learning, where students worked in group completing the learning video project using windows live movie maker software within a period of one month. This research was a qualitative descriptive research, which focused on process and product assessment. Assessment process seen from the periodical report and self assessment and product assessment viewed from oral presentation, peer review (assessment), and final report. The final product in the form of a learning video presented in the presentation already contained the concepts and problems of mathematics and how to solve it. In addition to supporting students to creativity to solve mathematics problems in everyday life by learning video, this research was also an innovation in learning mathematics. Keywords— Project based learning, learning media, learning video, windows live movie maker  Abstrak— Salah satu kompetensi pedagogik guru adalah dapat memanfaatkan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi untuk kepentingan pembelajaran, seperti pembuatan media pembelajaran berbasis komputer. Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan produk berupa video pembelajaran matematika berbasis audio visual yang dibuat oleh mahasiswa FKIP sebagai calon guru pada mata kuliah media pembelajaran. Model pembelajaran yang digunakan adalah Project Based Learning, dimana mahasiswa bekerja dalam kelompok menyelesaikan proyek video pembelajaran menggunakan software windows live movie maker dalam kurun waktu satu bulan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif, yang berfokus pada penilaian proses dan produk. Penilaian proses dilihat dari laporan bertahap dan self assesment serta penilaian produk dilihat dari presentasi produk, peer  review (assessment), dan laporan akhir. Produk akhir berupa video pembelajaran yang ditampilkan dalam presentasi sudah mengandung konsep-konsep dan permasalahan matematika serta cara penyelesaiannya. Selain mendukung mahasiswa untuk berkreativitas menuangkan permasalahan matematika dikehidupan sehari-hari dalam bentuk video pembelajaran, penelitian ini juga merupakan inovasi dalam pembelajaran matematika. Kata Kunci— Project based learning, media pembelajaran, video pembelajaran, windows live movie maker.

Abstract

Abstract— The existence of a social community in education is one of the solutions for underprivileged children and dropping out of school in order to get decent education for free. However, volunteers who teach specifically in teaching mathematics must have knowledge of the learning approach so that students are interested and easily understand the material. One approach that can be applied is the PMRI (Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education) approach. PMRI has principles and characteristics. The principle of PMRI is guided re-invention through progressive mathemizing, didactical phenomenology, and self-developed models. The characteristics of PMRI are use contextual problems, use models or bridges with vertical instruments, use student contributions, interactivity, and integrated with other learning topics. Based on the principles and characteristics, the PMRI approach is very interesting and can bridge students to understand the material. Keywords— PMRI, Social Community, Mathematics Learning   Abstrak— Adanya komunitas sosial yang bergerak di bidang pendidikan merupakan salah satu solusi bagi anak yang kurang mampu dan putus sekolah agar dapat mendapatkan pendidikan yang layak secara gratis. Namun, relawan yang mengajar khususnya dalam mengajarkan mata pelajaran matematika harus dibekali dengan pengetahuan mengenai pendekatan pembelajaran agar siswa tertarik dan mudah memahami materi. Salah satu pendekatan yang dapat diterapkan adalah pendekatan PMRI (Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia). PMRI memiliki prinsip dan karakteristik. Prinsip PMRI yaitu penemuan kembali  secara terbimbing melalui matematisasi progresif, fenomena didaktik, dan model-model yang dikembangkan sendiri. Karakteristik PMRI yaitu menggunakan masalah kontekstual,menggunakan model atau jembatan dengan instrumen vertikal, menggunakan kontribusi siswa, interaktivitas, dan terintegrasi dengan topik pembelajaran lain. Berdasarkan prinsip dan karakteristiknya, pendekatan PMRI sangat menarik dan dapat menjembatani siswa dalam memahami materi. Kata Kunci— PMRI, Komunitas Sosial, Pembelajaran Matematika

Abstract

Salah satu kemampuan dasar yang harus dimiliki mahasiswa sebelum menyelesaikan suatu permasalahan matematika adalah pemahaman konsep. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemahaman konsep mahasiswa dalam mengidentifikasi penyelesaian soal-soal integral tak tentu dan integral tentu. Mengidentifikasi soal merupakan langkah awal yang harus dilakukan sebelum mengambil langkah selanjutnya untuk menyelesaikan soal tersebut. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan subjek penelitian merupakan mahasiswa semester IV sebanyak 30 orang yang mengambil mata kuliah kalkulus integral. Tes dan wawancara adalah teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Selanjutnya data diolah dengan mereduksi data, menyajikan data dan penarikan kesimpulan atau menggunakan triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 63,3% mahasiswa sudah memiliki kemampuan pemahaman konsep yang cukup baik. untuk mengidentifikasi penyelesaian jawaban dari kalkulus integral mahasiswa harus membaca dan memahami konsep dasar kalkulus and kemuadian mereka harus banyak latihan mengerjakan berbagai macam masalah kalkulus integral.

Abstract

This study aimed to produce the Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS)’ questions of relation and function material that had validity and practicality and also had potential effect to support student’s creative thinking. This research was a descriptive research with design research method and development study type. The questions of relation and function material developed based on characteristics of Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) questions and followed stages of development study, such as: self evaluation, experts review, one-to-one, small group and field test. The subjects of this research were 38 students of eight grader from SMP Negeri 17 Palembang. They participated on one-to-one, small group and field test. Data collected using walkthroughs, interviews, questionnaires and tests. Validity of questions knew form experts review result based on content, construct and language. Practicality of questions knew from small group result about student’ understanding of purpose of questions and procedural of answering questions. Potential effect did known by test on field test stage. The result showed the HOTS’ questions of relation and function material truly supported student’s creative thinking.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan soal matematika tipe Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) materi persamaan garis lurus yang valid dan praktis. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode design research tipe development studies dengan tahapan penelitian menggunakan alur formative evaluation. Tahapan formative evaluation terdiri dari preliminary design, self evaluation, expert review, one to one, small group, dan field test. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP. Data dikumpulkan dengan walk-through, tes, wawancara, dan angket. Penelitian menghasilkan soal matematika tipe HOTS materi persamaan garis lurus yang valid dan praktis. Kevalidan dilihat dari komen expert pada tahap expert review segi konten, konstruk, dan bahasa yang menunjukkan bahwa soal telah sesuai dengan materi dan kriteria soal HOTS, sedangkan kepraktisan dilihat dari keterpakaian soal pada tahap one to one, small group, dan field test bahwa soal dapat digunakan oleh siswa dan tidak menimbulkan penafsiran ganda atau tidak membingungkan siswa saat mengerjakan soal yang dikembangkan.
