Abstract

The prolonged Covid-19 pandemic has an impact on the learning process in schools which must be abolished and replaced by learning from home. Learning from home, especially mathematics, reduces students' enthusiasm for learning and grows a sense of laziness in learning among students because they prefer to play rather than study. This also happened to students in the Santa Ursula KBG environment. With such conditions, the author uses the media of math games to help children at KBG Santa Ursula in learning mathematics. The results of the activities that have been carried out show that the use of math games increases the enthusiasm for learning and reduces the laziness of the children at the Santa Ursula KBG in learning mathematics

AbstractThis research was conducted to see the independence of student learning in the Basic Mathematics course in participating in distance learning, especially online learning during the Covid-19 Pandemic. This is a quantitative-descriptive study with 85 first-year students of the Agricultural Socio-Economic Study Program of the Indonesian Catholic University, Santu Paulus Ruteng, with a focus on studying the learning independence of students who take online learning due to the Covid-19 Pandemic situation. The results showed 18.82% of students had low learning independence, while 81.18% of students had high learning independence. Furthermore, in semi-structured interviews, it was found that students initially experienced difficulties in adapting to changes in learning habits, limited learning resources in the network, and a lack of interaction between students and lecturers. This limitation encourages students to be more independent in learning, which can be seen from more than 70% of students who have set learning goals, learning strategies, being able to manage study time, and conduct self-evaluation of the learning process that has been followed. More than 80% of students determine a learning environment that supports a learning atmosphere and seek help from classmates. Keywords: independent learning, Covid-19 pandemic, distance learning.

Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) compare the mathematical critical thinking skills of students who were taught with the Problem Based Learning model assisted by open-ended problems and students who were traditionally taught, 2) investigate the interaction between problem based learning models with mathematical attitudes towards students' mathematical critical thinking abilities. It was a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental method with a 2 x 2 factorial design and was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Cibal, Manggarai district, East Nusa Tenggara. Two classes were experimental and two classes were control and were chosen using cluster random sampling techniques. Data were obtained through questions to measure mathematical critical thinking skills and mathematical attitude questions and then analyzed with two way ANOVA. The data analysis and interpretation showed that 1) the mathematical critical thinking skills of students who were taught with the Problem Based Learning model assisted by open-ended problems were better than those of students who have been traditionally taught 2) there was no interaction between the problem based learning model and students' mathematical critical thinking abilities. This means that both students who had high and low mathematical attitudes scores when taught with the Problem Based Learning approach assisted with open-ended problems were always better than students who are taught with conventional approaches.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk; 1) membandingkan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematika siswa yang mengikuti model problem based learning berbantuan masalah open-ended dengan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematika siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran konvensional. 2) melihat interaksi antara model problem based learning dengan sikap matematis terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematika siswa. Abstract

The systematic review literature on the integration of computational thinking in learning mathematics at K-12 mathematics education showed that student-centered teaching approaches can bridge computational thinking and mathematics. However, studies on the role of ICT in improving the quality of learning and the integration of computational thinking in supporting the academic ability of K-12 students are still little reviewed in the current literature. In an effort to fill this gap, a systematic review of the pedagogical role of ICT in asssisting the improvement of students’ computational thinking in K-12 mathematics learning needs to be conducted. This study analyzed 14 studies from the Scopus database that met the inclusion requirements. The PRISMA protocol was used to assess the 14 studies reviewed. The results of this research are that several ICT tools effectively enhance students' CT in mathematics education, including augmented reality, digital gamification technology, robots, tablets, ePCR devices, online platforms for algorithm-based tasks, and problem-based programming. These studies recommend integrating these ICT tools into standard mathematics curricula, with careful design of learning activities, appropriate to students' developmental levels, and supported by adequate teacher training.

Abstract

A person's problem-solving abilities can be differentiated according to mathematical attitudes and gender differences. This study aims to describe students' problem solving abilities based on the category of mathematical attitudes and their relationship based on gender. The populations in this study were students of the mathematics education study program at the Catholic University of Santu Paulus Ruteng and then randomly selected grade III C students were selected as samples. The instruments used were a mathematical attitude questionnaire and a problem-solving ability test that had been tested for validity. Based on the category of high, medium, and low mathematical attitudes, 6 research subjects were selected, representing 3 men and 3 women respectively. The six research subjects were given a problem solving ability test. It was found that the level of problem solving ability of students was directly proportional to their mathematical attitudes. YTM and MYD students, who have high mathematical attitudes, also have high problem solving abilities. WHT and KDM have moderate mathematical attitudes; their problem solving abilities are also moderate. OTP and MTP who have low mathematical attitudes also have low problem solving abilities. While the value of men's mathematical problem-solving abilities with a moderate mathematical attitude is in the medium category, for women it is in the high category. Whereas in the category of high and low mathematical attitudes; both men and women obtained the same problem solving ability scores.
