Abstract

This study examines the environmental advocacy strategies carried out by WALHI Jambi in addressing the pollution of the Batanghari River caused by illegal gold mining activities. This issue reflects ongoing environmental degradation and weak policy enforcement in managing natural resources. The study aims to analyze advocacy practices in terms of raising public awareness, community organizing, and influencing policy. A qualitative approach with a case study method was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis. The findings show that WALHI Jambi has undertaken various advocacy efforts, including media campaigns, public actions, community assistance, and engagement in policy forums. However, these efforts remain not fully optimal. Public awareness initiatives are still limited to information dissemination, community organizing has not yet developed into a strong collective movement, and policy influence is constrained by the absence of systematic instruments such as formal documentation, litigation, and structured coalitions. This study contributes to the understanding of environmental advocacy practices and highlights the need for strengthening advocacy strategies to achieve more effective policy influence and sustainable environmental governance.

Abstract

This study analyzes the dynamics of social forestry management through the Community Forest scheme in Sungai Gelam, Muaro Jambi Regency, with a specific focus on women's empowerment within prolonged tenurial conflicts. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, using in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis to collect data. The findings indicate that internal conflicts within the Bersatu Arah Maju (BAM) Cooperative and land disputes with the Karya Makmur Farmer Group significantly hinder women's participation in forest management. Although the Community Forest scheme is designed to empower marginal communities, including female-headed households, its implementation faces structural barriers such as tenurial conflicts, institutional legal uncertainty, and patriarchal dominance in decision-making. The 2024 suspension of the BAM Cooperative's Community Forest Business Utilization License (Izin Usaha Pemanfaatan Hutan Kemasyarakatan/IUP-HKm), covering 501 hectares, demonstrates a governance failure that fails to prioritize gender inclusivity. This study recommends strengthening gender-responsive institutions, community-based conflict mediation, and affirmative policies to enhance women's access to and control over forest resources.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze public responses to the management of green open space at Putri Pinang Masak Park Jambi City and to identify the factors influencing public access and utilization of the green open space. Methodology: This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through in-depth field observations and semi-structured interviews with visitors of Putri Pinang Masak Park, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data were analyzed inductively through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, validated via source triangulation. Findings: The results indicate that public responses to the management of GOS at Putri Pinang Masak Park reveal a gap between physical infrastructure development and operational sustainability. Although the available facilities are relatively complete, management tends to be reactive, leading to a decline in vegetation quality and environmental comfort. Furthermore, non-physical accessibility barriers were identified, such as disorganized parking areas and street vendors, as well as a lack of universal design facilities for people with disabilities. Practical Implication: These findings can serve as a reference for the Jambi Provincial Government, particularly the Department of Public Works and Spatial Planning, to transform the GOS management system from a reactive to a preventive-collaborative approach by involving community participation to ensure the sustainability of the park's social and ecological functions. Originality: This study contributes to the literature on green open space management by highlighting public response as an evaluation indicator, particularly in the context of urban parks in Jambi City, which remains underexplored.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the interoperability of the One Data policy implementation by the Jambi Province Communication and Informatics Office (Diskominfo). The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and documentation, analyzed based on the Interoperability Digital Government theory, which includes technical interoperability, semantic interoperability, organizational interoperability, and legal and policy interoperability. The results show that the implementation of the One Data policy has been supported by the establishment of the Jambi Data and Analytic Center (JDAC) and the Jambi Province One Data Website as a data management center. However, interoperability is still suboptimal because data integration still relies on manual processes, data updates are inconsistent, and the application of data and metadata standards is not yet uniform across Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD). In addition, the coordination system still faces obstacles in aspects of human resources, organizational commitment, and supervision of policy implementation. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen system infrastructure, human resource capacity, inter-agency coordination, and data standardization so that the interoperability of the One Data policy in Jambi Province can run more effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this service is to create opportunities for the local community to participate actively in planning and decision making related to tourism development in Lake Lamo Village. Based on the results of discussions with partner villages, this service is very necessary to ensure that tourism development not only provides economic benefits, but also takes into account the needs and aspirations of the local community. This service method uses the Socialization and Communication method, namely by implementing a participatory planning approach. The expected results of this service include a tourism development plan that is more sustainable and integrated with the aspirations of the local community, increasing community involvement in decision making related to tourism development, so as to create a greater sense of ownership and responsibility from them for development results. Furthermore, improving the quality of tourism products and services which can increase the attractiveness of the Lake Lamo Village tourist destination, increasing public awareness and understanding of the importance of environmental and cultural preservation in the tourism context, as well as increasing the income and welfare of local communities through sustainable and participatory-based tourism development. Keyword: Strategy; Tourism Development; Participatory Planning; Danau Lamo  Abstrak: Adapun tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk menciptakan kesempatan bagi masyarakat setempat untuk berpartisipasi secara aktif dalam perencanaan dan pengambilan keputusan terkait dengan pengembangan pariwisata di Desa Danau Lamo. Berdasarkan hasil diskusi bersama desa mitra bahwa pengabdian ini sangat diperlukan untuk memastikan bahwa pengembangan pariwisata tidak hanya memberikan manfaat ekonomi, tetapi juga memperhitungkan kebutuhan dan aspirasi masyarakat setempat. Metode pengabdian ini menggunakan metode Sosialisasi dan Komunikasi yaitu Dengan menerapkan pendekatan perencanaan partisipatif. Adapun hasil yang diharapkan dari pengabdian ini diantaranya rencana pengembangan pariwisata yang lebih berkelanjutan dan terintegrasi dengan aspirasi masyarakat setempat, meningkatkan keterlibatan masyarakat dalam pengambilan keputusan terkait pengembangan pariwisata, sehingga tercipta rasa memiliki dan tanggung jawab yang lebih besar dari mereka terhadap hasil-hasil pengembangan. Selanjutnya meningkatkan kualitas produk dan layanan pariwisata yang dapat meningkatkan daya tarik destinasi wisata Desa Danau Lamo, peningkatan kesadaran dan pemahaman masyarakat tentang pentingnya pelestarian lingkungan dan budaya dalam konteks pariwisata, serta peningkatan pendapatan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat lokal melalui pengembangan pariwisata yang berkelanjutan dan berbasis partisipatif. Kata kunci: Strategi; Pengembangan Wisata; Participatory Planning; Danau Lamo
