Abstract

The Study aims to determine the effect of the problem based learning model with scientific literacy on students cognitive learning outcomes in ecology material. Population in the study were all students of class VII of SMP Negeri 12 Medan consisting of 9 classes with a total of 284 students. The Sample was taken from one class, namely the experimental class VII-2 with a total of 30 students. Type of research is quantitative research with pre experimental and research design used is one group pre-test and post-test design. Data analysis technique used the paired sample t-test hypothesis test using SPSS Statistics 25 software. Average and standard deviation pretest is 39.06 ± 8.77 and the posttest is 86.63 ± 7.22. Results of the hypothesis test obtained results with Sig. value data (2-tailed) of 0.000<0.05, the hypothesis Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. The conclusion is that the problem based learning model with scientific literacy has an effect on students cogntive learning outcomes in the ecology material of class VII at SMP Negeri 12 Medan.

Abstract

Imunisasi merupakan tindakan preventif yang efektif dan murah untuk melindungi bayi dari penyakit menular. Namun, persepsi masyarakat mengenai imunisasi masih menjadi perbincangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis persepsi atau pandangan masyarakat mengenai pemberian imunisasi pada anak usia 12-36 bulan di wilayah tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara dan dokumentasi, dengan tujuan memperoleh informasi mendalam mengenai faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi keputusan orang tua dalam memberikan imunisasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perspektif masyarakat mengenai imunisasi masih tergolong negatif yang ditunjukkan dengan rendahnya ketercapaian imunisasi. Ketercapaian imunisasi dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, termasuk kekhawatiran terhadap efek samping imunisasi, anggapan bahwa vaksin mengandung bahan tidak halal, serta kurangnya dukungan dari keluarga. Selain itu, informasi yang tidak akurat dari lingkungan sekitar dan media sosial turut mempengaruhi keputusan orang tua. Untuk meningkatkan cakupan imunisasi, diperlukan edukasi yang lebih intensif, keterlibatan tokoh masyarakat, serta peningkatan pelayanan kesehatan yang lebih ramah dan komunikatif.

Abstract

The low level of learning activities, analytical thinking skills, and student learning outcomes are indications of the need to improve the quality of learning through the implementation of innovative learning that makes students active subjects of learning in an effort to develop 21st century skills that are very important for students in facing the rapid development of science and technology today. This research aims to determine the effect of the PBL model assisted by student worksheets on learning activities, analytical thinking skills, and cognitive learning outcomes of class XI students at one of SMA Negeri in Medan City on the human immune system material. This material is very suitable for PBL because it contains complex biological processes and various disorders that involve the role of various components of the body. This research is a quasi-experimental research with a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. Samples were obtained through class randomization until 2 classes were obtained, where 1 class was an experimental class and 1 class was a control class. The data obtained were analyzed using an independent sample t-test which showed a significance value lower than 0.05. Students in the experimental group showed higher learning activity (78,53 > 64,47), better analytical thinking skills (77,88 > 70,32), and higher cognitive learning outcomes (81,91 > 70,44) compared to the control class. Thus, it can be concluded that the PBL model assisted by student worksheets has a significant effect on learning activities, analytical thinking skills, and cognitive learning outcomes of class XI students.

Abstract

 This study aims to determine the suitability between planning (teaching modules) and the implementation of biology learning on ecosystem material in class X SMAN in Medan. The research population was Biology teachers and students in class X of public high schools in Medan City that are accredited A and have implemented the Merdeka Curriculum. Samples of Biology teachers (7 people) and students (252 people) were taken purposively from SMAN 1, SMAN 5 and SMAN 12 Medan.  Lesson planning data were collected through document analysis of teaching modules while learning data were collected using classroom observation techniques and questionnaires given to students. These data were confirmed and corroborated through teacher interviews. The results showed that the ability of Biology teachers in class X in public high schools in Medan City in developing teaching modules was classified as very good with an average value of 89,10 ± 20,55, while the ability to implement learning based on teaching modules was classified as a good category with an average value of 85,49 ± 5,92. The implementation of learning in the classroom has been by what was planned in the module, although some aspects such as the delivery of learning benefits, application of the model, reflection, evaluation, and, attachment have not been optimal. Both planning and implementation of learning are by the Process Standards in Permendikbud No. 16 of 2022.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of the guided inquiry model assisted by the Kodular application on students' critical thinking skills and scientific literacy skills, and to understand which influence is greater between the critical thinking skills and scientific literacy skills of students who use the guided inquiry model assisted by the Kodular application on the material of the human locomotor system of class XI SMA. The study was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Aek Natas with a sample of 2 classes determined by cluster random sampling technique, namely the experimental class of 35 students and the control class of 34 students. The research data were collected using test instruments consisting of a critical thinking ability test (30 multiple choice questions) and a scientific literacy ability test (5 essay questions). The data were analyzed using an independent sample t-test approach with the help of the SPSS program. The results of the study showed that: (1) the application of the guided inquiry model assisted by the Kodular application had a significant effect on students' critical thinking skills (p = 0.001); (2) the application of the guided inquiry model assisted by the Kodular application had an effect on students' scientific literacy skills (p = 0.013); and (3) the application of the guided inquiry model assisted by the Kodular application has a greater influence on students' critical thinking skills compared to students' scientific literacy skills in learning about the human movement system in class XI of SMA Negeri 1 Aek Natas (p=0.000).

Abstract

This research aims to develop and test the feasibility of video learning media and test its influence on student learning outcomes in the distribution stage on human excretory system material. Learning media is developed based on the 4D development model which consists of four stages, namely definition, design, development and distribution. Media is validated by media experts and learning experts. Responses from biology teachers and students of class XI MIA 1 SMA Negeri 18 Medan. Research data was obtained through validation instruments, questionnaires and cognitive tests. Data was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The research results showed that the video learning media developed was considered very feasible by material experts (97,94%), media experts (93,66%). Video learning media was rated as very appropriate and very good by biology teachers (96.94%) and students (82.91%). From the t test, the calculated t value = 13,491 and t table = 1.69092 which shows that t calculated > t table. These data show that cognitive test results have increased significantly after using the video learning media developed.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a Project-Based Learning (PjBL)-oriented practicum guide for basic molecular biology to enhance students’ concept mastery and science process skills in the IPAS subject, particularly on the topic of living organisms and their environment. The development model used was ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects were grade X students from the Health and Social Work Expertise Program at SMKS Galang Insan Mandiri Binjai. Data were collected through needs analysis questionnaires, expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and tests of cognitive understanding and science process skills. The practicum guide consisted of three core activities: simple DNA isolation, in silico PCR simulation, and basic electrophoresis, all designed in alignment with PjBL syntax. Expert validation results indicated a high level of feasibility: content expert (92.53%), instructional design expert (98.08%), and layout expert (94.81%). The guide’s effectiveness was evaluated through an independent sample t-test, showing significant differences between experimental and control groups in both concept mastery (t = 9.299; p = 0.000) and science process skills (t = 8.800; p = 0.000). These findings demonstrate the practicum guide's effectiveness in improving the quality of molecular biology instruction and fostering students’ ability to apply scientific processes in a contextual and collaborative manner. The study recommends adopting PjBL-based practicum guides as a relevant instructional strategy for vocational education in the 21st century.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi yang sangat pesat menuntut siswa untuk terus meningkatkan ilmu pengetahuan sains agar mampu beradaptasi dengan perubahan zaman salah satunya adalah dengan kemampuan literasi sains. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning terhadap kemampuan literasi sains siswa serta kemampuan kolaborasi dan berkomunikasi siswa di SMA Swasta Sultan Iskandar Muda Medan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi experiment dengan desain penelitian pretest-posttest control group design. Pengambilan sampel dari penelitian dilakukan dengan teknik cluster random sampling dari populasi. Sampel yang digunakan adalah X-8 sebagai kelas eksperimen dengan menggunakan model Problem Based Learning dan kelas X-5 sebagai kelas kontrol dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran langsung. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan untuk mengukur kemampuan literasi sains adalah soal pilihan berganda dan essai yang berjumlah 15 soal. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data menggunakan uji-t dengan nilai Sig. 0,01 < 0,05 menunjukkan bahwa model PBL memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan literasi sains siswa. PBL juga memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan kolaborasi siswa melalui pemecahan masalah secara berkelompok, bekerja secara produktif, dan berbagi tanggung jawab. PBL juga mendorong peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi siswa baik secara lisan, tulisan, dan bahasa tubuh melalui kegiatan diskusi kelompok, presentasi, dan memberikan pendapat. Hasil Uji Mann Whitney menunjukkan nilai Sig 0,01 < 0,05 yang menunjukkan bahwa Model PBL menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Dengan demikian, model PBL terbukti memberikan pengaruh yang positif dalam mengembangkan ketiga kemampuan tersebut.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Desa Medan Krio Kecamatan Sunggal Kabupaten Deli Serdang. Yang menjadi mitra adalah industri rumah tangga yaitu usaha jamu tradisional yang dikelola Ibu Deli Sandra. Permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra diantaranya yaitu teknologi pengolahan masih tradisional sehingga mitra mengalami kesulitan dalam memenuhi kuantitas Produksi jamu yang dibutuhkan dalam waktu singkat, khususnya teknologi dalam pemerasan dan penggiling bahan baku, dan minimnya pengetahuan mitra dalam pencatatan pembukuan usaha yang baik. Sehubungan dengan permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra, pada program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan pendampingan peningkatan usaha jamu melalui transfer alat/mesin penggiling bahan baku pembuatan jamu dan pelatihan pembukuan. Metode yang digunakan untuk mencapai tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah metode pendampingan, praktik dan pelatihan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini telah menghasilkan teknologi tepat guna berupa 1 unit mesin penggiling bahan baku jamu, buku kas untuk pembukuan usaha, peningkatan produksi dan keterampilan menulis pembukuan usaha.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of applying the STEM problem-based learning on student’s scientific literacy and creative thinking skills in ecology material. This study was quasi experimental research with two group pretest posttest design. The population of this research were all of students of class VII SMP Negeri 37 Medan, academic 2024/2025. The sample of this research were taken by using class cluster random sampling technique consisted of eight classes. Class VII-D was experimental class taught by STEM problem-based learning model, Class VII-E was control class taught by conventional. The research instruments were multiple-choice tests to assess scientific literacy and essay tests to assess creative thinking skills. The data were analized by using t-test. The results showed that the STEM-based problem-based learning model had a greater effect on students' scientific literacy and creative thinking skills (p < 0.05) compared to the conventional learning model applied to the control class. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the STEM-based problem-based learning model significantly influenced students' scientific literacy and creative thinking skills at SMP 37 Medan.
