Abstract

Gender communication plays an important role in shaping the dynamics of interaction in families, especially in broken home families. This study aims to analyze the role of gender in gender communication patterns of broken home families in Pampangan hamlet, A'bulosibatang village, Marusu sub-district. The research method used is a qualitative approach with in-depth interview techniques and observation of family members who experience parental separation. The results of the study indicate that the communication pattern applied is a balanced split pattern. Where communication in the family is divided equally, but family members tend to side with one parent. Children still have good communication relationships with both parents,s but are closer to one of them. Children who are raised by mothers tend to experience more emotional and open communication, while children who are raised by fathers more often experience instructional, limited, and less expressive communication. So that a mother only elaborates the feminine aspect more in communicating with her children, both girls and boys. Likewise, a father who is more dominant in actualizing the masculine aspect in interacting with children affects the development of the children who live with him. Communication patterns in broken home families in this area are still influenced by the dominant gender construction in society. Therefore, a more inclusive and supportive communication approach is needed to help family members deal with the emotional and social challenges resulting from parental separation

Abstract

Gender socialization within the family is a crucial process that determines a woman’s future quality of life. The family serves as the primary agent for the structural transmission of gender norms to women. Studies on gender socialization in modern families generally highlight the dynamics of domestic role division and the negotiation of relationships. Nevertheless, women are still often positioned as passive recipients of the effects of social structures. This study aims to reconstruct this understanding by positioning women as active, reflective agents capable of interpreting, modifying, and negotiating gender norms based on religious values. This study employs a literature review approach through thematic synthesis of accredited national journal articles (minimum SINTA 4) and international theoretical literature. This study identified six strategies women employ in negotiating gender socialization: selective acceptance, reinterpretation of religious values, symbolic compromise and covert resistance, relational negotiation, management of dual roles, and cross-domain identity differentiation within the family and digital spaces. The analysis results indicate that gender socialization in modern families is a dialogical process between structure and agency. Research Implications – This study is limited to the specific literature cited for analysis, focusing on women’s strategies for negotiating gender socialization while considering religious values. Therefore, generalizations cannot be made to all modern families, which have distinct specific conditions. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the development of gender studies in Indonesia at the micro level. This study not only examines women’s strategies for addressing gender value contradictions but also views women as active individuals living within both modern families and digital spaces, who reinterpret religious teachings to apply them in the process of gender socialization at the family level.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa di tingkat dasar mengenai pendidikan seksual sebagai langkah pencegahan menyambut fase pubertas. Program ini diadakan menggunakan metode sosialisasi yang bersifat interaktif serta edukatif, melibatkan partisipasi aktif dari para siswa. Materi yang diajarkan mencakup pemahaman tentang perubahan fisik dan emosional yang terjadi saat pubertas, pengenalan tentang batasan tubuh, pentingnya menjaga kebersihan pribadi, serta langkah-langkah untuk melindungi diri dari berbagai ancaman. Hasil pelaksanaan aktivitas ini menunjukkan adanya kemajuan signifikan pada pengetahuan, kesadaran, dan sikap siswa dalam menghadapi perubahan yang mereka alami, selain itu, pengabdian ini sukses menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang lebih terbuka dan komunikatif, sehingga siswa meras lebih nyaman untuk membahas tema yang sebelumnya dianggap sebagai isu sensitive. Temuan ini menggarisbawahi bahwa pendidikan seksual yang diberikan sejak usia dini memiliki peran dalam mendukung perkembangan anak secara menyeluruh. Oleh karena itu, sangat diperlukan adanya pelaksanaan program yang berkelanjutan dan terencana melalui kerja sama antara sekolah, guru, dan orang tua.

Abstract

The dynamics of educational institutions, which are increasingly vulnerable to sexual violence, demand a new paradigm through strengthening students' capacities via preventive actions based on education. One way to reduce the risk of sexual violence against children in school environments is through a more participatory and context-appropriate prevention education model. This article describes the implementation of a community service program in the form of sexual violence prevention training for students in the school environment, namely at UPT SPF SMP Negeri 26 Makassar. The program is designed to strengthen students' self-protection literacy through a participatory approach that integrates dialogical lectures, group discussions, and written reflections. The novelty of the program lies in its emphasis on fostering student agency in recognizing power relations, identifying risky situations, and formulating self-protection strategies relevant to students' daily contexts at school. The results show changes in awareness and sensitivity of students' collective commitment in maintaining school safety from acts of violence. Instilling understanding of sexual risks becomes more effective when students formulate self-protection strategies. Cross-sector collaboration and participatory interaction based on dialogue for students provide solutions in addressing sensitive issues in secondary education. The main recommendation is directed towards forming a preventive synergy between the school and families to create comprehensive protection strategies.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui bentuk perubahan pola kerja perempuan di Kawasan Hutan Pinus Malino, Kecamatan Tinggimoncong, Kabupaten Gowa; dan (2) menganalisis dampak perubahan pola kerja perempuan terhadap kondisi ekonomi keluarga, relasi sosial, dan peran domestik perempuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan dengan uji keabsahan melalui triangulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) terjadi perubahan pola kerja perempuan dari buruh kebun yang bersifat musiman ke sektor perdagangan dan jasa pariwisata di kawasan Hutan Pinus Malino. Sebelumnya perempuan bekerja sebagai buruh kebun dengan pendapatan sekitar Rp100.000–Rp120.000 per hari, namun tidak menentu karena bergantung pada musim kerja; dan (2) perubahan pola kerja tersebut berdampak pada kondisi ekonomi dan sosial perempuan. Aktivitas berdagang memberikan tambahan pendapatan sekitar Rp20.000–Rp50.000 per hari pada hari biasa dan Rp50.000–Rp100.000 pada akhir pekan atau hari libur. Selain meningkatkan pendapatan keluarga, aktivitas ini juga memperluas relasi sosial perempuan dengan wisatawan, sesama pedagang, dan masyarakat sekitar. Namun, perempuan tetap menjalankan peran domestik sehingga menimbulkan beban kerja ganda. Secara teoretis, temuan penelitian ini sejalan dengan perspektif struktural fungsional yang memandang perubahan pola kerja perempuan sebagai bentuk penyesuaian sistem sosial terhadap perubahan struktur ekonomi lokal akibat berkembangnya sektor pariwisata, di mana keterlibatan perempuan dalam aktivitas ekonomi mencerminkan proses adaptasi dan integrasi sosial, sementara bertahannya peran domestik menunjukkan pemeliharaan nilai dan norma yang memunculkan konsekuensi laten berupa beban kerja ganda.
