Abstract

This study analyzes the branding of Café Cilor Mantul in communicating its products amidst the competition of culinary MSMEs in Bunijaya Village. The success of Café Cilor Mantul in surviving and growing is the main reason, highlighting the importance of branding for business sustainability. The purpose of this study is to understand how Café Cilor Mantul's branding elements including the logo, brand name, Instagram visuals, and taglineare represented and communicated. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative with a constructivist paradigm, where data is collected through in-depth interviews with the owner and consumers and direct observation of the implemented branding elements. Branding theory is used as the basis for the analysis. The results of this study indicate that Café Cilor Mantul's logo successfully represents its main product through the use of specific icons, attractive colors, and clear typography, in accordance with the owner's objectives. The brand name "Cilor Mantul" proved effective in attracting attention due to its simplicity and local familiarity. Product visuals on Instagram also successfully attract interest through good photo/video quality, artistic composition, use of bright colors, and a focus on emotional experiences. Furthermore, the tagline "Makan Cepat Menu Tepat" represents service efficiency and menu diversity. Overall, the branding implementation of Kafe Cilor Mantul demonstrates success in building and communicating a strong brand identity through visual and verbal elements tailored to the product's characteristics and target market. This understanding is expected to contribute to Communication Studies in the field of branding and marketing, as well as serve as a practical reference for Kafe Cilor Mantul and other MSMEs in formulating effective brand strategies.

Abstract

Kerawanan yang menyebabkan instabilitas sosial potensial terjadi pada masyarakat transisi. Ciri transisi tergambar jelas pada masyarakat desa Rancamanyar, Kecamatan Baleendah, Kabupaten Bandung. Desa yang tengah berubah menuju wujud sebuah kota ini menyimpan berbagai potensi membahayakan. Di antaranya, gangguan pada kerukunan dan kenyamanan lingkungan. Sebagai masyarakat transisi, kesulitan akan dialami ketika harus berubah ke arah suasana baru. Karena menuntut masyarakat untuk mengikuti arus perubahan dan meninggalkan adat dan kebiasaan yang telah lama terbentuk. Di dalam perubahan menuju kebiasaan baru ini terdapat hal paling mendasar, yakni, komunikasi. Ini berkenaan dengan bertebarannya simbol-simbol baru sebagai pembawa perubahan yang harus mendapat pemaknaan yang tepat dari masyarakat. Kemajuan sangat pesat serta merta mengubah kultur dan kebiasaan serta mengubah pola komunikasi yang sudah terbentuk. Menghadapi perubahan tersebut, warga harus memiliki keterampilan komunikasi, baik komunikasi praktis maupun kemampuan memaknai simbol-simbol yang bertebaran di tengah perubahan yang terjadi. Berkenaan dengan itu, dosen Ilmu Komunikasi bersama dengan mahasiswa Ilkom UKRI melaksanakan pengabdian di desa Rancamanyar, Kecamatan Baleendah Kabupaten Bandung. Tujuannya, untuk memberikan pemahaman dan keterampilan komunikasi kepada kader dan aktivis masyarakat desa agar mampu memperkuat kerukunan di tengah beragamnya simbol-simbol yang bertebaran sebagai konsekuensi dari heterogenitas penduduk. Agar mencapai tujuan, PKM menggunakan metode ceramah dengan disertai diskusi. Hasilnya, masyarakat desa Rancamanyar berkomitmen memahami realitas perubahan dengan menerapkan sisi keilmuan komunikasi agar terpelihara kerukunan di antara sesama warga masyarakat.

Abstract

Bandung setiap tahunnya menjadi daerah yang dipilih oleh mahasiswa daerah untuk menimba ilmu. Alasannya karena masyarakatnya yang ramah dan biaya hidup yang relatif murah. Mahasiswa asal Kabupaten Alor yang menjadi salah satu mahasiswa yang merantau ke Kota Bandung. Selama merantau dan berinteraksi dengan mahasiswa lokal, mereka merasakan beberapa hambatan yang disebabkan adanya perbedaan budaya antara Alor dengan Bandung seperti dari bahasa, kebiasaan, cita rasa makanan, dan gaya pergaulannya. Hambatan tersebut menjadi faktor timbulnya proses adaptasi yang ketidakmampuan mereka dalam menerima perbedaan yang ada. Adapun tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk mengetahui proses fase perencanaan, fase honeymoon dan fase frustasi pada proses adaptasi di Universitas Kebangsaan Republik Indonesia. Metode penelitian menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa proses adaptasi yang dialami oleh mahasiswa asal Alor Nusa Tenggara Timur terdiri dari empat fase yaitu; fase perencanaan, fase honeymoon, fase frustasi, dan yang terakhir fase readjustment. Fase perencanaan di mana fase ini  dialami oleh mahasiswa asal Alor untuk mempersiapkan secara material maupun mental. Fase honeymoon ini para mahasiswa asal Alor memiliki perasaan semangat untuk memulai kehidupan di lingkungan baru. Fase frustasi yang dialami oleh mahasiswa asal Alor diakibatkan ketidaksesuaian ekspektasi mereka dengan realita yang ada. Fase yang terakhir yaitu fase readjustment, di mana seseorang menyelesaikan masa krisisnya yang dialami difase frustasi dengan cara mengatasi masalah mereka masing-masing dengan cara mengubah perilaku dengan mengikuti organisasi yang ada di kampus, dengan begitu akan mendapat perhatian lebih dari teman-teman kampus dan tidak merasa terasingkan oleh kelompok-kelompok pertemanan yang ada di lingkungan kampus.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas strategi manajemen kesan yang diterapkan oleh UMKM Giggs dalam mengomunikasikan citra positif kepada konsumen di tengah persaingan ketat industri kuliner Kota Bandung. Fokus utama penelitian adalah bagaimana Giggs membangun citra positif melalui komunikasi interpersonal dengan pendekatan impression management dari Jones dan Pittman (1982), khususnya tiga taktik: ingratiation (apresiasi), self-promotion (promosi diri), dan exemplification (memberi teladan). Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, paradigma konstruktivisme, dan metode deskriptif, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, serta dokumentasi, lalu dianalisis melalui reduksi dan penyajian data serta penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Giggs berhasil membentuk citra positif melalui: (1) strategi ingratiation seperti sapaan ramah dan pelayanan personal yang membangun kedekatan emosional; (2) self-promotion melalui media sosial untuk menampilkan keunggulan produk dan aktivitas usaha; serta (3) exemplification lewat kolaborasi sosial dan penghargaan terhadap pelanggan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa manajemen kesan tidak hanya membentuk citra positif, tetapi juga meningkatkan loyalitas dan daya saing UMKM.

Abstract

In this Literature research, the researcher will analyze about the characterization from the several main character and Ivan Ilyich character analysis as the main character from the short stories: The Death of Ivan Ilyich Written by Leo Tolystoy. This short stories also has scores another triumph for Nobel Prize winner. This Short stories is the filled with Ivan Ilyich profound vision of life, as the honest Judgment of a high court prosecutor in 19th-century Russian miserable husband, the proud father, and upwardly-mobile member of Russia's professional class, the object of Tolstoy's unremitting satire. The researcher will completed the character explanation with the description about the several characterizations from the another main character base from the short story written by Leo Tolystoy. Short stories are short stories with a small page 20 until 50 pages, considerably longer, depicting a real life in a complex sequence of events. Rees states that short stories is the most widely being read of all kinds of literature (1973:106). The Literature research will analyze about the characterization from the several main character, and analyze the Ivan Ilyich character base from E.M. Foster (1927), and the Ivan Ilyich obsession base from the short stories with using the structural elements of literature study.

Abstract

This study aims to identify forms of local wisdom related to disasters and the challenges to their preservation in Morowali Regency. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with informants from various indigenous communities, community leaders, and traditional practitioners, then analyzed using a qualitative approach using NVivo software. The results indicate that the Morowali local community maintains a number of traditional practices that serve as disaster mitigation and understanding tools, including agricultural rituals to ensure soil fertility, traditional ndengu-ndengu chant used during extra ordinary accident or disasters, and legends and stories that mark extreme natural events. However, the preservation of local wisdom faces various challenges, such as lack of interest among the young generation, limited documentation, the influence of modernization, and a lack of support from government institutions. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating local wisdom with modern disaster mitigation programs and cultural preservation efforts to ensure that traditional knowledge remains relevant and beneficial to the community in facing disaster risks.

Abstract

Attention to national values ​​and insight has almost disappeared among the majority of residents of Gudangkahuripan village, Lembang District, West Bandung Regency (KBB). In their daily lives, residents are more focused on meeting daily consumption needs than increasing and honing their knowledge of national insight. The only knowledge they ever acquired about national insight was during elementary and secondary school. After graduating, some continued on to college, while most focused on finding work. From that point on, they were almost no longer connected to national symbols and terms. Likewise, refresher courses on national values ​​and insight in the form of seminars, meetings, or discussions were almost never received. Starting from this condition, Community Service (PkM) lecturers and students of the Communication Science Study Program (Prodi Ilkom) of the National University of the Republic of Indonesia (UKRI) were directed to revitalize knowledge of national insight among the residents of Gudang Kahuripan village. The approach used was a lecture method by communicating the elements, components, mission and vision, and goals of nationality. PkM succeeded in raising awareness and interest among Gudangkahuripan villagers to trace the essence and identity as citizens of the nation. Awareness also occurs regarding the position of citizens as part of the digital world cycle.

Abstract

 The digital space can be utilized for various purposes. For empowerment goals, it can be used to enhance capabilities, improve quality, or boost community competencies. The same applies to business actors. The great benefits of the digital space are accessible to all without discrimination based on business scale or level—from conglomerate-class businesses, MSME-scale enterprises, to micro-level individual ventures, all have equal opportunities to leverage the digital space. Problems with digital tool usage arise when micro-level individual business actors remain unaware of the digital space's benefits. This is the background for the Community Service (PkM) activities conducted by lecturers and students from the Communication Science program at the National Republic of Indonesia University (Ilkom UKRI) in Madalajati Subdistrict, Bandung City. The PkM aims to provide knowledge and enhance skills for micro-sector business actors in accessibility and trading activities transformed into digital networks. To achieve this, the method used is lectures based on specific themes related to basic digital tool usage skills. PkM results show that residents' knowledge improved after receiving in-depth, comprehensive explanations on digitalization, and even commitments emerged to link their trading activities by first accessing digital networks
