Abstract

AbstrakKemampuan menulis merupakan salah satu keterampilan yang penting dalampembelajaran bahasa asing. Dewasa ini, bahasa Mandarin merupakan bahasa yang menjadiobjek pembelajaran yang sangat diminati oleh masyarakat, termasuk banyaknya peminatjurusan bahasa Mandarin di universitas-universitas di Kota Makassar. Penelitian inimerupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuanmenulis karangan dalam bahasa Mandarin mahasiswa di Kota Makassar, Sulawesi Selatan.Menggunakan Teknik purposive sampling dan sampel penelitian yaitu mahasiswa diUniversitas Hasanuddin dan Universitas Negeri Makassar. Kemampuan menulis karangandalam bahasa Mandarin dapat dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, beberapa di antaranya adalahpemahaman terhadap pola tata bahasa, jumlah kosakata yang diketahui, serta faktorlingkungan yang mempengaruhi proses belajar mahasiswa.Kata Kunci : Bahasa Mandarin; Menulis; Karangan

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to improve basic Chinese learning in speaking skills of 2022 students of Chinese Language Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Makassar by using Youtube for increasing learning motivation for students by watching the Chinese Speaking learning videos that have been uploaded before. Subjects in this research is 38 students, the research instrument used was Chinese language speaking test form and survey sheet. Data analysis techniques in this study used qualitative and quantitative. The result of the study show that with the addition of video learning media that can be accessed on Youtube by the students easily, it can foster students motivation and results of learning basic Chinese speaking after watching the learning videos. Keyword: learning motivation, speaking, Chinese language, learning video. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan keingingan belajar dan kemampuan Berbicara Bahasa Mandarin dasar bagi mahasiswa Angkatan 2022 Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Mandarin di Universitas Negeri Makassar dengan menggunakan Youtube sebagai sarana peningkatan motivasi belajar bagi mahasiswa dengan menyaksikan video pembelajaran Berbicara Bahasa Mandarin yang telah diunggah sebelumnya. Terdapat 38 orang Mahasiswa sebagai subjek dalam penelitian ini. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan ialah tes dalam bentuk kuis berbicara Bahasa Mandarin dan lembar survey. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini meggunakan kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dengan adanya tambahan media pembelajaran video yang dapat diakses pada youtube oleh mahasiswa, dapat menumbuhkan motivasi serta keterampilan berbicara Bahasa Mandarin dasar mahasiswa Angkatan 2022 PBM UNM. Haal tersebut dapat dibuktikan dengan adanya peningkatan keinginan dan hasil belajar berbicara Bahasa Mandarin dasar setelah menyaksikan video pembelajaran yang telah diunggah. Kata Kunci: motivasi belajar, berbicara, bahasa mandarin, video pembelajaran

Abstract

Indonesia and China are countries that are now increasingly opening up opportunities for cooperation in various sectors. This has made many people and entrepreneurs take advantage of this opportunity to get involved in it. This can be seen from the surge of immigrants from China to Indonesia, Indonesia to China, bringing their own provisions and goals. However, because different countries and different cultures can trigger cultural conflicts, as a result, this creates a need for both countries to have cultures with each other. Therefore this article focuses on culture, it shows the culture of marriage from one of the ethnicities of the two countries, the Bugis and Han ethnicities. In addition, this research allows people to gain insight into differences and similarities in ethics, traditions and cultural values and kinship between cultures. Applying comparative methods, literature surveys and secondary data analysis to show the similarities and differences in the marriage culture of the Bugis and the Han people, by reviewing the marriage traditions and the meaning of marriage of the two ethnicities. This research reveals that traditional culture plays a major role in every marriage culture, history, to religion.

Abstract

This research aims to analyse students’ translation work of Chinese cultural terms. Cultural translation has difficulties with specific cultural terms whether in words or idioms. This research is using descriptive qualitative method. Data was collected from the work of students in translating Hong Lou Meng and Hua She Tian Zu. With the theories as a reference, the author analyses the error and quality of students' work. According to Newmark’s V diagram translation method, the students’ translation from Chinese language to Indonesian language mostly used word-for-word translation and Literal translation. In student translation works, there are also several mistakes found, such as the vocabulary, word order, or structure that influence the quality of translation. Chinese translate into Indonesian language as TL is too stiff and lack of natural language. From the weakness of student’s translation ability, here are suggestions to increase their translation ability: 1) More experience to use Chinese language in daily activities can help to increase the sense of language.Language cannot be separated from culture; 2) Students have to learn and experienced more about Chinese culture; 3) Students can learn and practice translation from many sources.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada tes tingkat kemahiran level menengah, yaitu Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi 4 (HSK 4). Dari tes HSK 4 terdapat tiga jenis keterampilan berbahasa yang diujikan, yaitu, mendengarkan (Tingli 听力), membaca (yuedu 阅读),dan menulis (写作). Penelitian ini dilakukan di Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Mandarin, Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Asing, FBS UNM. Adapun desain penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ujian HSK 4 terdiri dari kurang lebih 1800 kata, Karakter Hanzi 1500-2000 karakter, 45 item tes mendengarkan (Tingli听力), 40 item tes membaca (Yuedu 阅读), dan 15 item tes menulis (Xiezuo 写作) yang didesain untuk pembelajar Bahasa Mandarin agar dapat mendiskusikan topik yang relatif luas dalam Bahasa Mandarin dan mampu berkomunikasi dengan penutur Bahasa mandarin dengan standar tinggi.

Abstract

This study explores the role of souvenirs as cultural symbols, focusing on two iconic representations from China: the panda and the Chinese knot. In the context of global tourism, souvenirs serve not only as mementos but also as representations of a nation's identity and cultural values. The study applies Charles Sanders Peirce’s semiotic theory to analyze two iconic Chinese souvenirs: the panda and the Chinese knot. Using qualitative textual analysis, it explores how these symbols function within the triadic semiotic framework—representamen (the physical form), object (the cultural meaning), and interpretant (the perceived interpretation). The key findings highlight that the panda, as a national symbol, not only embodies China’s identity and commitment to conservation but also serves as a tool of cultural diplomacy, promoting a peaceful image globally. Meanwhile, the Chinese knot reflects Confucian values such as harmony, good fortune, and eternity, while also showcasing the aesthetic and philosophical aspects of traditional Chinese craftsmanship. This study demonstrates that souvenirs act as powerful media of cultural communication and play a role in shaping global perceptions and strengthening a nation's identity. Therefore, souvenirs should be studied not only from economic and tourism perspectives but also through cultural and semiotic lenses.

Abstract

Abstrak. Tujuan pelaksanaan kegiatan ini yakni untuk meningkatnya pemahaman dan keterampilan editor jurnal mengenai pengelolaan jurnal ilmiah sehingga nantinya membantu mereka untuk mendapatkan akreditasi jurnal yang lebih baik.  Terdapat 4 tahap dalam kegiatan ini yakni berupa analisis kebutuhan pelaksanaan program, pengembangan materi pelatihan, pelaksanaan pelatihan, dan evaluasi kegiatan.  Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi pada saat pelatihan dan pasca pendampingan, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan manajemen jurnal ilmiah untuk para editor jurnal dinilai dapat membantu dalam percepatan akreditasi jurnal. Selain itu, proses pendampingan yang diberikan kepada editor jurnal membantu mereka dalam mempersiapkan jurnalnya untuk pengajuan akreditasi Sinta. Hasil evaluais tersebut menjadi rekomendasi bahwa kegiatan ini sangat penting untuk dilakukan kedepannya sebagai bentuk peningkatan kapasitas editor jurnal dalam lingkup Universitas Negeri Makassar. Kata Kunci: Jurnal, Editor Jurnal, Akreditasi Sinta, Manajemen Jurnal

Abstract

This study explores the challenges and teaching methods designed to enhance Chinese vocabulary acquisition at the university level. Vocabulary acquisition is crucial for mastering a language, and in the case of Chinese, its complexity presents unique challenges for both learners and educators. The research employed a qualitative narrative design, conducting interviews with 10 Chinese language lecturers from various universities to gather insights into the methods and obstacles in vocabulary teaching. Data was collected using three primary methods: observations, questionnaires, and a comprehensive literature review. The findings of this study reveal a diverse range of approaches teachers employ. Approximately 60% of teachers adapt their methods based on student needs, indicating that flexibility and adaptability are key components of their teaching strategies. In contrast, 40% of teachers maintain a consistent teaching approach, believing that a structured framework helps students better understand the material and retain vocabulary. Despite these varied strategies, memory retention remains a significant challenge, with 50% of teachers reporting that their students struggle to retain Chinese vocabulary effectively. This highlights students' difficulty mastering a language with such a complex writing system. The study proposes a balanced approach, integrating flexible and consistent teaching methods, which are essential for overcoming the inherent challenges in Chinese vocabulary acquisition. Additionally, multimedia tools and digital technologies have effectively engaged students and enhanced vocabulary retention. The research concludes that refining current teaching methods—including structured routines, task-based learning, and spaced repetition—is necessary for improving student engagement and memory retention in Chinese language education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the essential role of Mandarin interpreters in the context of business communication within the mining sector, with a specific focus on the Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) in Central Sulawesi Province. T he necessity for effective cross-linguistic communication becomes paramount for multinational companies. Mandarin, as one of the most widely spoken languages globally, plays a central role in facilitating interactions between local stakeholders and foreign enterprises. This research employs a qualitative methodology through in-depth interviews with five interpreters operating at IMIP. The primary focus of this study is to explore the language and cultural challenges faced by interpreters and how they overcome these barriers to ensure accurate and effective communication. Additionally, the research examines the importance of understanding relevant technical terminology and cultural contexts in enhancing business relationships, operational effectiveness, and negotiation strategies. The findings indicate that qualified interpreters play a crucial role in maintaining smooth business operations, strengthening cross-cultural collaboration, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. This study identifies the skills, qualifications, and experience necessary for interpreters to succeed in a dynamic and challenging work environment. Thus, it provides valuable guidance for individuals interested in pursuing a career as Mandarin interpreters in this evolving mining sector. In conclusion, the career prospects for Mandarin interpreters in the mining sector of Central Sulawesi are promising, given the increasing demand for effective cross-cultural communication to support multinational business growth

Abstract

Abstrak. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi digital akademik dosen baru Fakultas Bahasa dan Sastra Universitas Negeri Makassar (FBS UNM) melalui workshop pemutakhiran data pada platform SINTA dan SISTER. Kedua platform tersebut merupakan sistem informasi nasional yang menjadi dasar penilaian kinerja dosen, pengembangan karier akademik, dan pemetaan kualitas institusi. Namun, banyak dosen baru yang masih mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami mekanisme pembaruan data dan pengelolaan portofolio digital akademik secara mandiri. Workshop dilaksanakan selama satu hari dengan pendekatan partisipatif dan praktik langsung (hands-on training). Kegiatan ini meliputi penyampaian materi tentang fungsi dan keterintegrasian SINTA–SISTER, praktik pemutakhiran profil akademik, unggah dokumen pendukung, sinkronisasi data publikasi, serta diskusi dan konsultasi teknis. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan peserta dalam mengelola data akademik secara mandiri. Peserta mampu memperbarui profil pribadi, riwayat pendidikan, data publikasi, serta menautkan identitas keilmuan seperti Google Scholar dan Scopus ID. Evaluasi akhir menunjukkan bahwa workshop ini efektif meningkatkan kesiapan dosen baru dalam mengelola portofolio akademik digital dan memperkuat akurasi data institusi. Kegiatan ini disimpulkan sebagai langkah strategis dalam mendukung pengembangan kapasitas dosen baru sekaligus meningkatkan mutu dokumentasi akademik di lingkungan FBS UNM. Pelaksanaan pelatihan serupa secara berkala direkomendasikan untuk memastikan keberlanjutan peningkatan kualitas data akademik dosen. Kata kunci: literasi digital akademik, SINTA, SISTER, dosen baru, FBS UNM, pemutakhiran data.
