Abstract

This scientific paper examines how mecobalamin injection preparations will be affected by the length of storage and can lead to a decrease in drug quality to drug damage. The material used for this research is mecobalamin pro-analysis from PT. Kalbe, chocolate ampoule injection mecobalamin, and aquadest. This research is an experimental study, which aims to determine the effect of storage time on the physical quality of mecobalamin injection preparations in brown ampoules using UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of mecobalamin injection preparations that were affected by light for 24 hours with storage durations of 5 days, 10 days, 15 days, and 0 days as a control for comparison. A series of tests from this study concluded that temperature, humidity, light, the effect of storage time, and sample preparation affected the levels of mecobalamin injection preparations. Based on the determination of the concentration of mecobalamin injection in the test solution with different storage times, the results were not constant due to a decrease in levels, when compared to the control.

Abstract

The content of flavonoid compounds in tin leaves has the potential to be an alternative source of natural antioxidants. The purpose of this study was to determine the formulation and physical quality test of tin leaf extract solid soap preparations. This research method is an experimental research and method of making soap using the cold process method. Making tin leaf extract solid soap by collecting the ingredients to be extracted using the maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent, carrying out formulations with extract concentrations of 0% 1% and 3% and evaluating the physical quality of solid soap preparations which include organoleptic tests, pH tests, homogeneity test and foam height test on tin leaf extract solid soap. Organoleptic test of solid soap F0 produces a light green color with black mystique perfume, F1 produces a dark green color with black mystique perfume, F2 produces a brownish green color with strawberry perfume. The pH value obtained, which is 9, meets the requirements, the pH range for solid soap for the skin is 9-11. The homogeneity test showed that the fig leaf extract herbal soap with a concentration of 1% and 3% showed no spots, therefore the fig leaf solid soap fulfilled the homogeneity requirements. The soap foam height test showed that soap produced foam (F0= 9.16Ccm, F1= 8cm, F2= 8.16cm).

Abstract

Silver nanoparticles or Ag-Nanoparticles (AgNPs), which exhibit antimicrobial and biomedical activities, have many benefits in the health sector. AgNPs can be prepared using chemicals such as sodium borohydride (NaBH4). The green synthesis of AgNPs is an environmentally friendly alternative and is cost-effective. Capsicum annuum L. combined with saffron extract was used to synthesize the AgNPs. The biosynthesis, characterization, and antibacterial activity of AgNPs were studied in this study. The synthesized AgNPs were characterized by UV-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, Fourier-transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), and particle size analysis (PSA). The formation of AgNPs was confirmed by optical performance using UV-VIS spectroscopy, which showed a peak of AgNPs at 407 nm. Capsicum annuum L. combined with saffron extract containing C-H, C-N, and C=O groups. Particle size was characterized using PSA, measuring 37.74 nm with an average SD ±22.10. Capsicum annuum L. combined with the saffron extract showed effective antibacterial activity.  Keywords: Green Synthesis, AgNPs, Capsicum annuum L, Saffron

Abstract

Hypertension is the leading cause of premature death worldwide. An estimated 1.28 billion  adults aged 30-79 years worldwide have hypertension. Treatment of hypertension is usually aimed at preventing morbidity and mortality from hypertension. The choice of drugs for each patient's hypertension depends on the metabolic and subjective side effects caused. This study aims to determine the effectiveness profile of antihypertensive drugs amlodipine 10 mg or lisinopril 10 mg in outpatients at the Sidoarjo Pratama Clinic for January- March 2023. This research method is observational, with a cross-sectional approach and data collection. Quantitative analysis was then done using the statistical program SPSS 24 with univariate analysis. The results of the independent t-test showed a significance value for the systolic category of 0.780 > 0.05 and a significance value for the diastolic category of 0.931 > 0.05. Patients receiving therapy with amlodipine 10 mg or lisinopril 10 mg reached the target in 30 patients. After doing the independent t-test before and after therapy in both the systolic category and the diastolic category, it can be concluded that there is no significant difference in the effectiveness of the two groups. Abstract

Dandruff is one of the problems that cause a lack of confidence. The triggering microorganism is Candida albicans. The innovation in the skin of red dragon fruit has the potential as an antibacterial and antifungal because it contains several active compounds such as alkaloids, terpenoids and flavonoids. This study aims to find out at what concentration the anti-dandruff activity on the growth of Candida albicans fungus in the formulation of dragon fruit peel extract shampoo preparation (Hylocereus polyrhizus). This research method is an experimental research using the disc paper diffusion method which consists of making dragon fruit peel extract with the maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent. The extract is formulated in shampoo with concentrations of 20.40 and 80%. The results of this study were in the organoleptis test in the form of a viscous liquid, soft sticky texture, brown and menthol flavor. pH test 6.13, 6.71, 6.39, 5.49. Test the height of the foam 5.8cm, 6.0cm, 6.5cm, 10.3cm. Viscosity test 500 Cp, 612 Cp, 635 Cp, 624 Cp. Homogeneity test is homogeneous. Anti-dandruff shampoo activity test of kontro (+), control (-), concentration of 20%, 40%, 80% with an average of 21.95 mm, 0.00 mm, 22.9 mm, 26.07 mm, 28.52 mm. The conclusion of this study is that the formulation of dragon fruit peel extract shampoo (Hylocereus polyrhizus) has provided an inhibitory effect on the growth of Candida albicans fungus with the strongest inhibitory concentration produced in formulation III with a concentration of 80% of 28.52 mm.

Abstract

Sabun merupakan salah satu kebutuhan yang terus menerus dikonsumsi dalam rumah tangga. Ekstrak stawberry memiliki aroma segar, warna menarik, serta memiliki aktivitas antioksidan, sehingga dapat lebih efektif dalam membunuh kuman dan bakteri serta melindungi tubuh dari virus di masa pandemi seperti ini. Sabun yang berkualitas memiliki harga jual yang tinggi. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, pelatihan ini diadakan untuk memberikan keterampilan pembuatan sabun kepada Ibu- Ibu di Desa Waru, Sidoarjo. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk menambah wawasan dan keterampilan Ibu- Ibu di Desa Waru  dalam pembuatan sabun yang berkualitas. Di masa mendatang, kegiatan ini dapat dimanfaatkan oleh Ibu-Ibu Desa Waru untuk meningkatkan penghasilan tambahan, sehingga memiliki kegiatan produktif yang bernilai ekonomis. Diharapkan melalui kegiatan ini, masyarakat mampu menciptakan peluang lapangan kerja baru dan berwirausaha. Pembuatan sabun home made ini sangat mudah, bahan yang digunakan juga dapat ditemui di pasaran. Pembuatan sabun homemade ini juga dapat digunakan untuk mengurangi biaya pengeluaran rumah tangga. Sabun homemade ini memiliki harga yang lebih murah, serta dalam satu kali produksi menghasilkan sabun dalam jumlah yang banyak.

Abstract

Batuk merupakan salah satu respon tubuh dalam mengeluarkan dahak dan digunakan sebagai salah satu sistem pertahanan tubuh. Pilek merupakan gangguan kesehatan pada saluran pernafasan bagian atas yang dapat disebabkan oleh beberapa hal meliputi infeksi dan alergi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui presentase kandungan obat batuk pilek yang dikonsumsi anak-anak, dan obat batuk pilek kombinasi yang banyak digunakan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah menggunakan kuisioner. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kandungan sirup obat batuk pilek pada anak yang sering digunakan adalah guaifenesin sebanyak 20,5%, gliseril guaicolat sebesar 12,6%, pseudoefedrin sebesar 36,8%, phenylpropanolamine sebesar 5,4%, dan dextromethorphan sebesar 24,7%.

Abstract

Background: Yogurt is a fermented milk product that has a positive influence on health because of its bioactive proteins, vitamins, minerals, improved bioavailability, and hydrolyzed carbohydrates. Yogurt contains lactic acid bacteria that can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. Objectives: This study aimed to determine the addition of Saffron Extract to yogurt against Staphylococcus aureus and to test its antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. Material and Methods: The study was an experimental study with various concentrations of Saffron extract (25%; 50%; 75%; and 100%) that were added to the cow milk-based yogurt. The mixed saffron extract (MSE) was centrifuged to obtain the supernatant. The antibacterial activity was evaluated using the disc diffusion method. based on the strength of the zone of inhibition. The negative control was plain yogurt and the positive control was chloramphenicol. Results: Phytochemical screening was used to observe flavonoids, steroids, phenols, saponins, and tannins in the saffron extract. MSE showed antibacterial activity against S. aureus with inhibition zones of 5.19 ± 0.39 mm, 5,77± 0.78 mm, 7,98± 1.43 mm, 9,01± 1.48 mm for, concentration of  25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%, respectively. The positive control inhibition zone was 46.61 mm and the negative control was 4.98± 0.39 mm.  Conclusions: Saffron extract added to yogurt at concentrations of 75%  and 100% inhibited the growth of S. aureus. Abstract

  The increased availability of medications today has led to a rise in demand for medical services. Drug logistics management in hospitals involves interrelated stages such as planning, procurement, storage, distribution, processing, evaluation, and monitoring. All of these stages require good coordination to function optimally. This study aims to examine the implementation of drug logistics management at the Pharmacy Installation of Mitra Sehat Mandiri Hospital in Sidoarjo using a qualitative descriptive approach with a cross-sectional design. The results show that training has a positive impact on employee performance, particularly in the input component. Adequate budgeting is necessary for purchasing medications and maintaining storage facilities and related equipment. Equipment must meet standards, have proper lighting, and be regularly calibrated. In general, the hospital’s logistics process includes planning through to supervision. Most medications are available as needed, although some may occasionally be out of stock due to supply shortages from distributors. Additionally, some damaged or expired drugs were found, indicating the need for a comprehensive evaluation of drug management to improve its effectiveness and efficiency. Overall, the availability of medications at this hospital is considered to be in accordance with demand. Abstract

Penggunaan immunomodulator untuk tetap menjaga daya tahan tubuh adalah upaya yang dilakukan untuk mencegah luasnya penyebaran kasus COVID-19. Penggunaan immunomodulator herbal berhubungan erat dengan tingkat pengetahuan dan sikap masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan dan sikap masyarakat Kecamatan Wonoayu, Sidoarjo terhadap penggunaan immunomodulator herbal pada masa pandemic COVID-19. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif. Sampel yang diambil memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi berjumlah 86 orang dengan teknik purposive  sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuesioner yang dibagikan kepada masyarakat di Kecamatan Wonoayu Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Responden dengan pengetahuan tergolong baik sebesar 12,8%, cukup sebesar 51,2%, dan kurang baik sebesar 36,0%. Sikap masyarakat termasuk berkategori baik sebesar 37,2% dan kurang sebesar 27,9%. Dapat disimpulkan dari penelitian ini bahwa pengetahuan, sikap dan penggunaan immuniherbal sudah cukup baik. Meskipun demikian, perlunya peningkatan edukasi guna memperkuat konsistensi antara pengetahuan, sikap, dan tindakan masyarakat terhadap penggunaan imunomodulator herbal dalam upaya menjaga daya tahan tubuh selama pandemi.
