This study examines the form of resistance of female characters against the patriarchal system in the Anne with an E Season 2 series using Sylvia Walby’s patriarchal theory as an analytical framework. The study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a content analysis approach, which focuses on Walby’s six patriarchal structures: household, paid work, state, violence, sexual relations, and culture. The results of the analysis show that the series voices criticism of patriarchal norms through the representation of women’s agency and resistance to gender subordination. Anne and other female characters show that women are able to fight social boundaries, get an education, and voice equality. This study emphasizes the importance of gender awareness in popular media and its contribution to the formation of a more equitable social discourse.
