Abstract

Geometry is a branch of science in mathematics and a course taken by students of mathematics education. Based on students' final exam scores, results were not optimal with several types of errors detected. This study aimed at identify student mistakes in solving geometry problems on the topic of solid figures. The subjects of this study were mathematics education students in the even semester of the 2018/2019 academic year at Universitas Pelita Harapan in Tangerang. The type of research was a qualitative descriptive study. The data collection technique used was a test. The results showed that students' errors in solving geometry problems were concept errors, calculation errors, and a lack of accuracy because they were in a hurry.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Geometri merupakan salah satu cabang ilmu dalam matematika dan merupakan matakuliah yang wajib diikuti oleh mahasiswa program studi pendidikan matematika. Berdasarkan nilai ujian akhir semester mahasiswa didapatkan hasilnya masih kurang maksimal, hal ini memungkinkan terdapat beberapa tipe kesalahan jawaban dari mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kesalahan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan soal UAS geometri pada topik bangun ruang. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa pendidikan matematika semester genap Universitas Pelita Harapan Tangerang tahun akademik 2018/2019. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesalahan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan soal geometri adalah kesalahan konsep, kesalahan hitung, dan kurang teliti karena terburu-buru.

Abstract

Humans need to receive education in their lives. Through education, humans can develop specifically in intellectual matters. Christian education has the important purpose of introducing God in Bible-based learning. But this only happens if the teacher has implemented biblical integration in learning. One way to do this is through the implementation of John W. Taylor's faith and learning integration strategy. This study focuses specificially on the learning of mathematics in the area of numbers. Christian teachers can truly carry out their call to preach Christ in number mathematics using John W. Taylor's faith and learning integration strategy. This scientific paper is a literature study with supporting data in the form of books, journal articles, and the results of observations and interviews that the author encountered at a Christian school in Ambarawa. This literature review shows that the implementation of John W. Taylor's faith and learning integration strategy in number mathematics can increase students' biblical insights. Students seem to be more enthusiastic learning about knowing God through the learning of number mathematics. It is recommended that teachers implement John W. Taylor strategy with a correct understanding of the steps for its application and make good preparations before teaching.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Manusia perlu menerima pendidikan di dalam kehidupannya. Melalui pendidikan, manusia dapat berkembang terkhusus dalam hal intelektual. Pendidikan Kristen memiliki tujuan yang penting untuk memperkenalkan Allah di dalam pembelajaran yang berlandaskan alkitab. Namun fakta yang terjadi adalah guru belum mengimpelementasikan integrasi alkitabiah di dalam pembelajaran. Salah satu alternatif yaitu melalui implementasi strategi integrasi iman dan pembelajaranJohn W. Taylor. Topik bahasan ini mengarah pada pembelajaran matematika materi bilangan. Tujuan studi literatur ini yaitu agar guru Kristen dapat benar-benar menjalankan panggilannya untuk memberitakan Kristus khusunya di dalam pembelajaran matematika materi bilangan melalui strategi integrasi iman dan pembelajaranJohn W. Taylor. Penulisan studi literatur ini murni kajian literatur dengan data pendukung berupa buku, jurnal, serta hasil observasi dan wawancara yang sesuai dengan persoalan penulis di sekolah Kristen di Ambarawa. Sumber pendukung Kajian literatur ini memperoleh hasil bahwa implementasi strategi integrasi iman dan pembelajaranJohn W. Taylor dalam pembelajaran matematika materi bilangan dapat menambah wawasan alkitabiah siswa. Siswa terlihat lebih antusias mengikuti pembelajaran mengenai pengenalan akan Allah di melalui pembelajaran matematika materi bilangan ini. Disarankan agar guru mengimplementasikan strategi John W. Taylor ini dengan pemahaman yang benar akan langkah-langkah penerapannya serta melakukan persiapan yang baik sebelum mengajar.

Abstract

Mathematics is a subject which uses mathematical symbols, such as numbers and graphs, that some students find difficult to learn. To understand it, mathematical visual thinking skills are needed. In one of the schools in Kupang, the students’ mathematical visual thinking ability is low. Many students cannot represent problems with mathematical symbols. To solve this, the teacher uses GeoGebra as a teaching aid. GeoGebra is a software program that has many advantages as a tool for learning mathematics. GeoGebra can be used effectively with the various features it has. The purpose of this research is to describe how to use GeoGebra and what features can be used in GeoGebra to develop mathematical visual thinking abilities. This research was conducted in grade 10 at one of the schools in the city of Kupang. The method of this reseacrh is qualitative descriptive. The result of this research is that there are several GeoGebra features that can help learning, including point, line, algebra input, and pen. These features can be used easily by just clicking on or writing according to the instructions on the GeoGebra page. The implication of this research is that teachers still have to teach students how to use this tool wisely so that its advantages can be maximally utilized, moreover, they can glorify God through using GeoGebra. The conclusion is that GeoGebra is a tool that can help in developing mathematical visual thinking abilities because its features can enable indicators of mathematical visual thinking abilities.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Matematika merupakan mata pelajaran yang identik dengan simbol-simbol matematis seperti angka-angka hingga grafik-grafik yang bisa membuat siswa merasa kesulitan. Untuk memahaminya, dibutuhkan kemampuan visual thinking matematis. Namun masalah yang terjadi pada salah satu sekolah di Kupang, kemampuan visual thinking matematis siswa masih kurang. Banyak dari siswa yang tidak bisa merepresentasikan persoalan-persoalan ke dalam simbol matematis. Untuk memecahkan masalah tersebut, guru menggunakan GeoGebra sebagai media pembelajaran. GeoGebra merupakan aplikasi yang punya banyak kelebihan dalam membantu pembelajaran matematika. GeoGebra dapat digunakan secara efektif dengan berbagai fitur yang dimilikinya. Tujuan penulisan ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana cara menggunakan GeoGebra dan apa saja fitur yang dapat digunakan dalam GeoGebra untuk mengembangkan kemampuan visual thinking matematis.Penelitian ini dilakukan di kelas X pada salah satu sekolah yang ada di kota Kupang Penulisan ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penulisan ini adalah ada beberapa fitur-fitur yang dapat membantu pembelajaran, di antaranya adalah point, line, input algebra, dan pen. Implikasi penelitian ini yaitu guru tetap harus mengajarkan kepada siswa agar dapat menggunakannya dengan bijak sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan secara maksimal, bahkan dapat memuliakan Allah melalui GeoGebra. Kesimpulannya adalah GeoGebra merupakan alat yang dapat membantu dalam mengembangkan kemampuan visual thinking matematis, karena fitur yang dimilikinya dapat mengampu setiap indikator visual thinking matematis.

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, learning was carried out online. It takes student activeness with the right approach and method to provide maximal learning experiences and learning outcomes. The purpose of this paper is to describe the application of the facilitated e-learning approach combined with the 5E method on student activeness in learning. This paper used the descriptive qualitative research method. Students are imagebearers of God so a teacher should view students as special and valuable. Students have reason and ability so it can be said that they are active individuals. Therefore, a teacher should always encourage their activiteness during the learning process. Implementing the facilitated e-learning approach with the 5E method is the right solution because the students carry out learning activities independently with the teacher in the role of facilitator.  This has the potential to encourage student activeness in online learning so that students can get the maximum learning experience and learning outcomes and teachers can provide God-centered learning. In applying these approaches and methods, a teacher needs careful and measured preparation in order to provide the maximum learning experience even though it is carried out online.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Selama pandemi covid-19, pembelajaran dilaksanakan secara daring. Dibutuhkan keaktifan siswa dengan pendekatan dan metode yang tepat untuk tetap memberikan pengalaman belajar dan hasil belajar yang maksimal. Tujuan penulisan dari penelitian ini untuk memaparkan penerapan pendekatan facilitated e-learning dikolaborasikan dengan metode 5E terhadap keaktifan siswa dalam pembelajaran. Penelitian ini disusun dengan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil pembahasan dari penelitian, siswa merupakan gambar dan rupa Allah sehingga seorang guru hendaknya memandang siswa istimewa dan berharga. Siswa memiliki akal dan kemampuan sehingga siswa dapat dikatakan sebagai pribadi yang aktif. Maka dari itu, seorang guru hendaknya dapat selalu mendorong keaktifan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Kesimpulannya, menerapkan pendekatan facilitated e-learning dengan metode 5E merupakan solusi yang tepat karena siswa melakukan aktivitas pembelajaran secara mandiri dengan guru memiliki peran sebagai fasilitator yang berpotensi mendorong keaktifan siswa dalam pembelajaran daring sehingga siswa dapat mendapatkan pengalaman belajar dan hasil belajar yang maksimal serta guru dapat memberikan pembelajaran yang berpusat pada Allah. Disarankan seorang guru dalam menerapkan pendekatan dan metode tersebut perlu memberikan persiapan yang matang dan terukur agar dapat memberikan pengalaman belajar yang maksimal meskipun dilaksanakan secara daring.

Abstract

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic requires learning to be done online. That way, the use of technology in the 4.0 era is also needed to be used as an online learning medium. Media that can be used to support online learning are Cisco Webex and educational games such as Quizizz. Observations made by the author of the sixth grade elementary school students show the problem of the lack of active learning of students when participating in online learning. Therefore, the purpose of writing this article is to describe the optimization of online learning media to encourage student learning activities in learning mathematics. The formulation of the problem taken is how to optimize online learning media by teachers in encouraging student learning activities in learning mathematics. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. In addition, in Christian education, teachers must still see each student as the image and likeness of God even though students are less active in participating in online learning. Therefore, teachers still need to pay attention and encourage students to develop and be actively involved in learning. Through the use of Cisco Webex to engage students in discussions and Quizizz to engage students in exercises, students become more active in learning. However, the teacher's efforts have not had an overall impact, so teachers need to understand more about online media and the right features in encouraging student learning activities.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Dampak dari pandemi Covid-19 mengharuskan pembelajaran dilakukan secara online. Dengan begitu, penggunaan teknologi era 4.0 juga diperlukan untuk dijadikan sebagai media pembelajaran online. Media yang dapat digunakan sebagai pendukung dalam pembelajaran online adalah Cisco Webex serta game edukasi seperti Quizizz. Pengamatan yang dilakukan oleh penulis terhadap siswa SD kelas VI menunjukkan masalah kurangnya keaktifan belajar siswa saat mengikuti pembelajaran online. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penulisan artikel ini adalah memaparkan optimalisasi media pembelajaran online untuk mendorong keaktifan belajar siswa di dalam pembelajaran matematika. Rumusan masalah yang diambil adalah bagaimana optimalisasi media pembelajaran online yang dilakukan guru dalam mendorong keaktifan belajar siswa pada pembelajaran matematika. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif.  Selain itu, dalam pendidikan Kristen, guru harus tetap melihat setiap siswa sebagai gambar dan rupa Allah meskipun siswa kurang aktif dalam mengikuti pembelajaran secara online. Oleh karena itu, guru tetap perlu memperhatikan dan mendorong siswa untuk berkembang dan terlibat aktif dalam pembelajaran. Melalui penggunaan Cisco Webex untuk melibatkan siswa dalam diskusi serta Quizizz untuk melibatkan siswa dalam latihan, siswa menjadi lebih aktif mengikuti pembelajaran. Namun upaya guru tersebut belum berdampak secara keseluruhan, sehingga guru perlu memahami lagi media online serta fitur-fitur yang tepat dalam mendorong keaktifan belajar siswa.

Abstract

Statistics for Research Education is an important course for students in the Faculty of Education. Serious problems are experienced by students learning statistics, one of them is because the learning outcomes are not optimal. To overcome this problem, a lecturer can provide mini-research tasks. Mini-research is one form of assignment from project-based learning. This research was descriptive qualitative research. The subjects in this study were students from Cohort 2019 who took Educational Research Statistics courses. Learning activities and mini-research assignments are handled fully online. By giving students a mini-research assignment, students can be encouraged to learn statistical theories and concepts. Through mini-research tasks, students can increasingly see the big picture and interrelationships between topics in this course. The positive responses can be seen from students’ reflections and results of the review given to the paper. The use of project-based learning with a mini-research task is an interesting idea and suitable for students. In addition to better student learning outcomes, students also become more conscious of the problems around them. Prospective teachers can learn to make research an upcoming provision when they enter the field of teaching.

Abstract

This article explores the development of numeral systems across various ancient civilizations and connects these developments to Christian reflections on knowledge as a divine gift. Employing a qualitative approach through library research, the study traces the evolution of numeral systems in Egypt, Babylon, China, Greece, Rome, and the Hindu–Arabic tradition, along with the contributions of influential figures such as Ahmes, Liu Hui, Pythagoras, Brahmagupta, and Al-Khwarizmi. Through descriptive and chronological analysis, the study illustrates how practical needs, cultural contexts, and spiritual values shaped the formation of diverse numerical representations. The article emphasizes that numbers are not merely computational tools but cultural artifacts and intellectual symbols refined across generations. Additionally, Christian theological reflection offers a value-centered framework that affirms knowledge—including mathematics—as an expression of gratitude and a means of serving others. This study seeks to enrich mathematics education by presenting a more meaningful integration of historical and theological perspectives. BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Artikel ini mengkaji evolusi sistem bilangan dalam berbagai peradaban kuno dan mengaitkannya dengan refleksi iman Kristiani mengenai makna pengetahuan sebagai anugerah ilahi. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui studi pustaka, penelitian ini menelusuri perkembangan sistem bilangan di Mesir, Babilonia, Cina, Yunani, Romawi, hingga dunia Hindu-Arab, serta peran tokoh-tokoh penting seperti Ahmes, Liu Hui, Pythagoras, Brahmagupta, dan Al-Khwarizmi. Analisis dilakukan secara deskriptif dan kronologis untuk mengungkap bagaimana kebutuhan praktis, konteks budaya, dan nilai spiritual mendorong munculnya beragam sistem representasi bilangan. Artikel ini menegaskan bahwa bilangan bukan sekadar alat hitung, tetapi merupakan produk budaya dan simbol intelektual manusia yang berkembang dari generasi ke generasi. Di samping itu, refleksi iman Kristen menjadi bingkai nilai yang memperkuat pandangan bahwa pengetahuan termasuk matematika merupakan sarana untuk bersyukur dan melayani sesama. Kajian ini diharapkan dapat memperkaya wawasan pembelajaran matematika dengan pendekatan historis dan teologis yang lebih bermakna.

Abstract

The Faculty of Education is dedicated to preparing teacher candidates. Ideally, every course students take should contribute to developing their teaching competencies. Within this framework, Educational Research Statistics is one of the mandatory courses for candidates at the Faculty of Education, Pelita Harapan University. In this course, students are expected to work collaboratively on a mini-research project for 1 semester, where they are trained to identify and solve problems through statistical procedures. At the end of the project, students are then expected to present the obtained outputs to their classmates. Therefore, this study aimed to carry out the following objectives: 1) Examine the level of differences in teacher competencies among students before and after the implementation of the mini-research project, and 2) Analyze the effectiveness of the project in strengthening teacher competencies of students. A mixed-method approach was implemented in this case, with 47 students employed as the experimental sample. This study used teacher competency tests and questionnaires as instruments. The processing of the results was also analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. This research provides results: 1) there are significant differences between teacher competencies in students before and after the implementation of mini-research projects, and 2) the implementation of mini-research projects effectively strengthens the competence of student teachers. Therefore, every course must consider the best learning strategy to strengthen student teachers' competence.
