Abstract

Learning English is not merely learning new vocabularies with their meanings in the first language, especially since English is still a foreign language for most of Indonesian students. So, teaching new vocabularies in English do not guarantee proficiency in using English effectively. Therefore, teachers need to think of ways on how to create learning fun and interesting for the students to learn English. Through VCR strategy, teachers involve students to repetitively use the vocabularies learned in different contexts. Teachers need to prepare learning materials and activities that might engage students to use vocabulary in dialogues, songs and movements, stories, and games. Through class observations, interviews, and teaching journals had by 20 English teacher candidates who taught elementary students in a private course in Tangerang, it was found that teaching English vocabulary only was not enough to make students interested in English learning. Unless those vocabularies were taught in real situations as what the students also usually faced in their daily lives, those words will be stored in a short term. The more the students repeated the new words they learned, the more ‘real’ those words in their lives. Teaching vocabularies through contexts that are relevant to the students and repetitions will help Indonesian students learn English easier and more effectively.

Abstract

Kurikulum Merdeka yang diterapkan di Indonesia ternyata tidak sepenuhnya berjalan dengan baik, hal ini terlihat dari rendahnya pemahaman konsep matematika siswa dalam belajar matematika. Guru cenderung kurang menciptakan pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada siswa yaitu masih identik dengan metode ceramah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji penerapan Differentiated Instruction berbasis Kurikulum Merdeka untuk mendorong pemahaman konsep matematika. Metode penelitian yang dipakai adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran yang baik harus disesuaikan dengan prinsip kemerdekaan belajar yakni menurut minat, bakat, dan karakter siswa. Dan metode yang cocok untuk digunakan yakni Differentiated Instruction dikarenakan karakteristik dari metode ini yang sangat memperhatikan kebutuhan setiap siswa. Implementasi Differentiated Instruction berbasis Kurikulum Merdeka mampu mendorong pemahaman konsep matematika siswa yang telah diukur berdasarkan berbagai indikator pemahaman konsep matematika meningkat sebesar 78%. Selain itu, implementasi Differentiated Instruction pada penelitian ini menolong siswa berkebutuhan khusus mendapatkan pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan keterbatasan dan kebutuhan yang dimilikinya. Saran yang ditawarkan adalah guru perlu memanajemen waktu pembelajaran dengan baik dan waktu penelitian yang lebih lama

Abstract

The low level of mathematical disposition ability of the students in one of the Junior High Schools in Palembang became a special matter during the field experience. It was found that the average percentage of students' mathematical disposition ability was 53.01% in the moderate category. In addition, there were students who had a view of mathematics as a difficult and unpleasant science. In fact, mathematical disposition has a great influence on students' mathematics learning and achievement. Moreover, it will help students to see the beauty of God's creation through mathematics if they have a good mathematical disposition. This makes the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Approach (PMRI) an alternative solution to the problem of mathematical disposition. The purpose of writing this thesis was to find out whether the application of PMRI could develop the disposition ability of algebra material and to describe the application of PMRI in developing the mathematical disposition ability of students in algebra material using a descriptive qualitative method. The results and conclusions of this paper show that the students' mathematical disposition ability after the application of PMRI increased with an average percentage result to 61.48% in the good category. The increase was caused by the mathematical disposition indicators that were refined in all PMRI syntax. Thus, these indicators can be refined in any syntax. Reflecting on the application of PMRI, it is suggested that the application can be done more than twice and use physical learning media.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Rendahnya kemampuan disposisi matematis siswa di salah satu SMP di Palembang menjadi perhatian khusus saat dilakukannya praktik pengalaman lapangan. Didapatkan rata-rata persentase kemampuan disposisi matematis siswa berada pada 53,01% dengan kategori cukup. Ditambah lagi terdapat siswa yang memiliki pandangan terhadap matematika sebagai suatu ilmu yang sulit dan tidak menyenangkan. Padahal, disposisi matematis sangat berpengaruh terhadap pembelajaran matematika dan prestasi siswa. Apalagi, dengan baiknya disposisi matematis siswa, maka akan mendukung mereka memandang indahnya ciptaan Tuhan melalui matematika. Hal ini menjadikan Pendekatan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) menjadi alternatif solusi terhadap permasalahan disposisi matematis. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan PMRI dapat mengembangkan kemampuan disposisi materi aljabar dan mendeskripsikan penerapan PMRI dalam mengembangkan kemampuan disposisi matematis siswa pada materi aljabar dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil dan simpulan penulisan ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan disposisi matematis siswa setelah PMRI diterapkan mengalami peningkatan dengan rata-rata hasil persentase menjadi 61,48% dengan kategori baik. Hasil persentase yang meningkat ini disebabkan oleh indikator disposisi matematis yang terdapat pada keseluruhan sintaks PMRI. Dengan demikian, indikator-indikator tersebut dapat terasah di setiap sintaks. Berkaca dari penerapan PMRI ini, disarankan agar penerapannya dapat dilakukan lebih dari dua kali dan menggunakan media pembelajaran fisik.

Abstract

  A sense of belonging is a very important feeling for students to build relationships in the classroom community through face-to-face and online learning. The fact that the teacher found during the teaching practice of grade VII junior high school students in online learning, the teacher found a lack of belonging to their class community. Following up on these problems, the teacher facilitates students by applying the peer tutoring method that allows students to get support from teachers and peers so that it has the potential to foster a sense of belonging to students. The purpose of writing is to describe the application of the peer tutor method as an effort to foster a sense of belonging to students, especially in class VII junior high school students. The method used is descriptive qualitative. This research was conducted in SKK Erenos where a total of 52 students became respondents. Writing concludes that the application of the peer tutoring method is carried out by combining synchronous and asynchronous learning to help students foster a sense of belonging in online learning even though they have not achieved maximum results. Teachers need a correct and reflective heart response to face various challenges in the world of education. Teachers cannot change students' personalities but can become facilitators to create class communities that love one another. The advice to the teacher is to continue the implementation of the peer tutoring method consistently for a long time to foster a sense of belonging to students in online learning.

Abstract

Good understanding is a fundamental aspect of learning, and it involves the active participation of students. In one school in Karawaci, there were problems with learning activities, such as sleepy students who focused on devices, tended to ask or answer passively, and did not do assignments or discuss. In response to this, teachers play a role in presenting learning that helps students, namely through varied and exciting teaching by implementing Game-Based Learning (GBL) assisted by Kahoot! This study aimed to show the extent to which Kahoot-assisted GBL! Can encourage active learning and describe its application in encouraging active learning in statistical material. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The results showed an increase in learning activity after the implementation of Kahoot!-assisted GBL, from 42.4% to 71.3%. This success is supported by motivation, appreciation, reprimand, and interaction that creates a comfortable atmosphere for students. Suggestions for future research include repeating the application of Kahoot!-assisted GBL, exploring the use of other games and applying them to different grade levels

Abstract

Pandemic conditions are continuing and have an impact on learning. Under such conditions, perhaps students are already familiar with distance learning and adapt to those conditions. However, it is undeniable that not all children can still have good motivation during online learning. Student learning motivation must still be moved so that students' enthusiasm for learning continues to be encouraged and can follow the learning. Although there are already several schools that implement Limited Face-to-Face Learning (PTMT), students still need assistance, for example during independent study hours in developing their knowledge. Especially children of Junior High School (SMP) and High School (SMA) or Vocational High School (SMK) age 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 are in the adolescent stage that requires attention so that they can focus on learning. One of the things that can be done to give real attention is to accompany them to study outside of school hours. Tenjo tutoring in collaboration with GKI Gading Serpong is here to answer these problems. The goal is to provide services that directly impact the needs of junior high and high school / vocational school students, especially in encouraging student learning motivation. This tutoring activity is carried out online. After being implemented for 5 months, the student's learning motivation score did not appear to have increased significantly. However, based on open-ended questions, 92% of students stated that they became enthusiastic about learning when taking this tutoring.abstract in BahasaKondisi pandemi masih terus berlanjut dan berdampak terhadap pembelajaran. Dalam kondisi demikian, mungkin siswa sudah terbiasa dengan pembelajaran jarak jauh dan beradaptasi dengan kondisi tersebut. Namun tidak dapat dipungkiri bahwa tidak semua anak bisa tetap memiliki motivasi yang baik selama pembelajaran daring. Motivasi belajar siswa harus tetap digerakkan sehingga semangat belajar siswa terus terpacu dan dapat mengikuti pembelajaran. Meski sudah ada beberapa sekolah yang melaksanakan Pembelajaran Tatap Muka Terbatas (PTMT), siswa tetap memerlukan pendampingan misalnya pada saat jam belajar mandiri dalam mengembangkan pengetahuannya. Khususnya anak usia Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) dan Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) atau Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) kelas 7, 8, 9, 10, dan 11 berada di tahap remaja yang membutuhkan perhatian sehingga mereka bisa fokus dalam pembelajaran. Salah satu yang bisa dilakukan untuk memberikan perhatian yang nyata adalah mendampingi mereka belajar di luar jam sekolah. Bimbingan belajar Tenjo bekerja sama dengan GKI Gading Serpong hadir untuk menjawab permasalahan tersebut. Tujuannya adalah menghadirkan pelayanan yang langsung berdampak bagi kebutuhan siswa SMP dan SMA/SMK khususnya dalam mendorong motivasi belajar siswa. Kegiatan bimbingan belajar ini dilaksanakan secara daring. Setelah dilaksanakan selama 5 bulan, secara  skor motivasi belajar siswa tidak terlihat mengalami peningkatan secara signifikan. Namun berdasarkan pertanyaan terbuka, 92% siswa menyatakan menjadi semangat belajar ketika mengikuti bimbingan belajar ini.

Abstract

Guru berperan dalam memfasilitasi pembelajaran yang mendukung kemampuan berpikir kritis. Pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dianggap sebagai solusi untuk masalah ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah CTL dapat mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam matematika. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa, kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa meningkat sebesar 32%, dari 51% menjadi 83%. Tahapan CTL mendukung kemampuan berpikir kritis dengan memberikan masalah kontekstual dan pembelajaran interaktif. Melalui CTL, siswa lebih bertanggung jawab dalam menghadapi masalah kehidupan nyata. Teachers play a role in facilitating learning that supports critical thinking skills. The Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach is a solution to this problem. This research aims to determine whether CTL can develop critical thinking skills in mathematics. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. The results show that students' critical thinking abilities increased by 32%, from 51% to 83%. The CTL stages support critical thinking skills by providing contextual problems and interactive learning. Through CTL, students are more responsible in dealing with real-life problems.

Abstract

Mata kuliah aljabar abstrak membantu mahasiswa untuk meningkatkan kemampuan analisis, berpikir logis dan bernalar secara matematis dalam menyelesaikan masalah. Namun sering sekali mahasiswa kesulitan dalam belajar Aljabar abstrak. Dengan menguasai mata kuliah Aljabar Abstrak maka diharapkan mahasiswa prodi Pendidikan matematika sebagai calon guru dapat menjadi seorang guru yang terus mengembangkan kemampuan dan talenta yang telah Tuhan percayakan. Melalui penelitian diharapkan dapat memperbaiki proses belajar mengajar aljabar abstrak dengan terlebih dahulu menggali bentuk-bentuk kesulitan mahasiswa dalam mempelajarinya serta apa saja yang sudah mahasiswa lakukan dalam mengatasi setiap kesulitan belajar matakuliah tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian kualitatif deskripstif. Pengumpulan data diambil dari angket, lembar wawancara mahasiswa. Adapun hasil yang diperoleh adalah bahwa kesulitan yang dialami mahasiswa dalam belajar aljabar abstrak yaitu kesulitan memahami materi kuliah, kurangnya kompetensi matematik mahasiswa, kurangnya kemampuan Bahasa Inggris mahasiswa. Tanggapan mahasiswa dalam menyikapi setiap kesulitan yang dihadapi dalam belajar aljabar abstrak yaitu mahasiswa mau belajar untuk lebih giat lagi dalam belajar, bertanya kepada teman/kakak tingkat/dosen dan membentuk kelompok belajar.

Abstract

Based on observation at XYZ Christian School in Tangerang, there are some students in grade 9 who showed less disciplined behavior in school, especially during math classes. Less disciplined students exhibit less motivated attitudes during classroom learning. This study aims to determine whether learning motivation correlates to learning discipline. This type of research is correlational research with a quantitative approach. The research instrument was a questionnaire. The population in this research is all grade 9 students at XYZ Christian School. Data were analyzed through using Pearson Product Moment Correlation to obtain a correlation coefficient between learning motivation and learning discipline. The analysis obtained a correlation coefficient of 0.731 that shows there is a strong positive relationship between learning motivation and learning discipline. The research concluded that the higher the learning motivation, the higher the learning discipline.ABSTRAK BAHASA INDONESIA: Berdasarkan pengamatan yang dilakukan di Sekolah Kristen XYZ di Tangerang, ada beberapa siswa kelas IX yang kurang disiplin dalam perilaku di sekolah, terkhusus saat pembelajaran matematika. Siswa yang kurang disiplin menunjukkan sikap kurang termotivasi selama pembelajaran di kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya hubungan yang signifikan dan bagaimana hubungan antara motivasi belajar dengan disiplin belajar siswa kelas IX. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian korelasional dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas IX di Sekolah Kristen XYZ. Data dianalisis menggunakan Pearson Product Moment Correlation untuk mendapatkan koefisien korelasi antara motivasi belajar dengan disiplin belajar. Hasil analisis memperoleh koefisien korelasi 0.731 yang menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan positif yang kuat antara motivasi belajar dan disiplin belajar. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa semakin tinggi motivasi belajar semakin tinggi pula disiplin dalam belajar.

Abstract

Based on observations of grade 8B students in a Christian junior high school in Kupang, it was found that students were not able to demonstrate the ability to cooperate in mathematics lessons. To overcome this, the researcher implemented a Team Quiz to assist students in developing their cooperative skills. This research used Kemmis & McTaggart’s model for Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research was done in two cycles. The instruments used were mentor’s and peer’s observations, student’s questionnaires, and tests. The findings showed that Team Quiz could help grade 8B students to improve their cooperation skills in mathematics subjects.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Berdasarkan hasil observasi pada siswa kelas VIII-B di salah satu SMP Kristen Kupang, ditemukan bahwa siswa belum mampu menunjukkan kemampuan kerja sama dalam pelajaran Matematika. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, peneliti menerapkan Team Quiz untuk membantu siswa dalam mengembangkan kemampuan kerja sama. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan Mc Taggart. PTK ini berlangsung dalam dua siklus. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi check-list mentor dan teman sejawat, lembar observasi rating scale mentor dan teman sejawat, lembar angket siswa, dan lembar wawancara mentor. Hasil Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) menunjukkan bahwa penerapan Team Quiz dapat meningkatkan kemampuan kerja sama antar siswa kelas VIII-B pada mata pelajaran Matematika.
