Abstract

Humans need to receive education in their lives. Through education, humans can develop specifically in intellectual matters. Christian education has the important purpose of introducing God in Bible-based learning. But this only happens if the teacher has implemented biblical integration in learning. One way to do this is through the implementation of John W. Taylor's faith and learning integration strategy. This study focuses specificially on the learning of mathematics in the area of numbers. Christian teachers can truly carry out their call to preach Christ in number mathematics using John W. Taylor's faith and learning integration strategy. This scientific paper is a literature study with supporting data in the form of books, journal articles, and the results of observations and interviews that the author encountered at a Christian school in Ambarawa. This literature review shows that the implementation of John W. Taylor's faith and learning integration strategy in number mathematics can increase students' biblical insights. Students seem to be more enthusiastic learning about knowing God through the learning of number mathematics. It is recommended that teachers implement John W. Taylor strategy with a correct understanding of the steps for its application and make good preparations before teaching.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Manusia perlu menerima pendidikan di dalam kehidupannya. Melalui pendidikan, manusia dapat berkembang terkhusus dalam hal intelektual. Pendidikan Kristen memiliki tujuan yang penting untuk memperkenalkan Allah di dalam pembelajaran yang berlandaskan alkitab. Namun fakta yang terjadi adalah guru belum mengimpelementasikan integrasi alkitabiah di dalam pembelajaran. Salah satu alternatif yaitu melalui implementasi strategi integrasi iman dan pembelajaranJohn W. Taylor. Topik bahasan ini mengarah pada pembelajaran matematika materi bilangan. Tujuan studi literatur ini yaitu agar guru Kristen dapat benar-benar menjalankan panggilannya untuk memberitakan Kristus khusunya di dalam pembelajaran matematika materi bilangan melalui strategi integrasi iman dan pembelajaranJohn W. Taylor. Penulisan studi literatur ini murni kajian literatur dengan data pendukung berupa buku, jurnal, serta hasil observasi dan wawancara yang sesuai dengan persoalan penulis di sekolah Kristen di Ambarawa. Sumber pendukung Kajian literatur ini memperoleh hasil bahwa implementasi strategi integrasi iman dan pembelajaranJohn W. Taylor dalam pembelajaran matematika materi bilangan dapat menambah wawasan alkitabiah siswa. Siswa terlihat lebih antusias mengikuti pembelajaran mengenai pengenalan akan Allah di melalui pembelajaran matematika materi bilangan ini. Disarankan agar guru mengimplementasikan strategi John W. Taylor ini dengan pemahaman yang benar akan langkah-langkah penerapannya serta melakukan persiapan yang baik sebelum mengajar.

Abstract

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic requires learning to be done online. That way, the use of technology in the 4.0 era is also needed to be used as an online learning medium. Media that can be used to support online learning are Cisco Webex and educational games such as Quizizz. Observations made by the author of the sixth grade elementary school students show the problem of the lack of active learning of students when participating in online learning. Therefore, the purpose of writing this article is to describe the optimization of online learning media to encourage student learning activities in learning mathematics. The formulation of the problem taken is how to optimize online learning media by teachers in encouraging student learning activities in learning mathematics. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. In addition, in Christian education, teachers must still see each student as the image and likeness of God even though students are less active in participating in online learning. Therefore, teachers still need to pay attention and encourage students to develop and be actively involved in learning. Through the use of Cisco Webex to engage students in discussions and Quizizz to engage students in exercises, students become more active in learning. However, the teacher's efforts have not had an overall impact, so teachers need to understand more about online media and the right features in encouraging student learning activities.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Dampak dari pandemi Covid-19 mengharuskan pembelajaran dilakukan secara online. Dengan begitu, penggunaan teknologi era 4.0 juga diperlukan untuk dijadikan sebagai media pembelajaran online. Media yang dapat digunakan sebagai pendukung dalam pembelajaran online adalah Cisco Webex serta game edukasi seperti Quizizz. Pengamatan yang dilakukan oleh penulis terhadap siswa SD kelas VI menunjukkan masalah kurangnya keaktifan belajar siswa saat mengikuti pembelajaran online. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penulisan artikel ini adalah memaparkan optimalisasi media pembelajaran online untuk mendorong keaktifan belajar siswa di dalam pembelajaran matematika. Rumusan masalah yang diambil adalah bagaimana optimalisasi media pembelajaran online yang dilakukan guru dalam mendorong keaktifan belajar siswa pada pembelajaran matematika. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif.  Selain itu, dalam pendidikan Kristen, guru harus tetap melihat setiap siswa sebagai gambar dan rupa Allah meskipun siswa kurang aktif dalam mengikuti pembelajaran secara online. Oleh karena itu, guru tetap perlu memperhatikan dan mendorong siswa untuk berkembang dan terlibat aktif dalam pembelajaran. Melalui penggunaan Cisco Webex untuk melibatkan siswa dalam diskusi serta Quizizz untuk melibatkan siswa dalam latihan, siswa menjadi lebih aktif mengikuti pembelajaran. Namun upaya guru tersebut belum berdampak secara keseluruhan, sehingga guru perlu memahami lagi media online serta fitur-fitur yang tepat dalam mendorong keaktifan belajar siswa.

Abstract

Statistics for Research Education is an important course for students in the Faculty of Education. Serious problems are experienced by students learning statistics, one of them is because the learning outcomes are not optimal. To overcome this problem, a lecturer can provide mini-research tasks. Mini-research is one form of assignment from project-based learning. This research was descriptive qualitative research. The subjects in this study were students from Cohort 2019 who took Educational Research Statistics courses. Learning activities and mini-research assignments are handled fully online. By giving students a mini-research assignment, students can be encouraged to learn statistical theories and concepts. Through mini-research tasks, students can increasingly see the big picture and interrelationships between topics in this course. The positive responses can be seen from students’ reflections and results of the review given to the paper. The use of project-based learning with a mini-research task is an interesting idea and suitable for students. In addition to better student learning outcomes, students also become more conscious of the problems around them. Prospective teachers can learn to make research an upcoming provision when they enter the field of teaching.

Abstract

Based on observations of grade 8B students in a Christian junior high school in Kupang, it was found that students were not able to demonstrate the ability to cooperate in mathematics lessons. To overcome this, the researcher implemented a Team Quiz to assist students in developing their cooperative skills. This research used Kemmis & McTaggart’s model for Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research was done in two cycles. The instruments used were mentor’s and peer’s observations, student’s questionnaires, and tests. The findings showed that Team Quiz could help grade 8B students to improve their cooperation skills in mathematics subjects.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Berdasarkan hasil observasi pada siswa kelas VIII-B di salah satu SMP Kristen Kupang, ditemukan bahwa siswa belum mampu menunjukkan kemampuan kerja sama dalam pelajaran Matematika. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, peneliti menerapkan Team Quiz untuk membantu siswa dalam mengembangkan kemampuan kerja sama. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan Mc Taggart. PTK ini berlangsung dalam dua siklus. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi check-list mentor dan teman sejawat, lembar observasi rating scale mentor dan teman sejawat, lembar angket siswa, dan lembar wawancara mentor. Hasil Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) menunjukkan bahwa penerapan Team Quiz dapat meningkatkan kemampuan kerja sama antar siswa kelas VIII-B pada mata pelajaran Matematika.

Abstract

A learning trajectory offers a description of key aspects in planning mathematics learning. It also helps teachers follow and interpret students’ mathematical thinking, so that learning can be developed in accordance with the characteristics of students, and even become a tool for teachers to develop curriculum. There are three main components of learning trajectory: learning goals, learning activities, and hypothetical learning processes. In this article, we constructed a learning trajectory of the quadratic inequality. This qualitative study used didactical design research with 105 grade 10 students as the participants. In the prospective analysis step, didactic design, learning obstacle, and quadratic inequality system were analyzed. Based on the results of this analysis, we constructed hypothetical learning trajectories in the form of didactical design. Then, hyphothetical learning trajectories were implemented in the learning process. Student’s responses were analyzed qualitatively. Results of this analysis were used to revise the learning trajectory in order to obtain alternative trajectory learning outcomes of theoretical and empirical analysis. Finally, this article offers an alternative learning trajectory of quadratic inequalities that are different from the existing learning trajectories presented in the current textbook. The learning trajectory that is offered is the learning quadratic inequality which starts from the function approach. BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Learning trajectory (LT) menawarkan sebuah deskripsi akan aspek kunci dalam perencanaan pembelajaran matematika. LT juga membantu guru belajar dalam mengikuti dan menginterpretasi cara berpikir matematisnya siswa, sehingga pembelajaran dapat dikembangkan sesuai dengan karateristik siswa, bahkan menjadi alat bagi guru untuk mengembangkan kurikulum.  Ada tiga komponen utama dari learning trajectory, yaitu: tujuan pembelajaran (learning goals), kegiatan pembelajaran (learning activities) dan hipotesis proses belajar siswa (hypothetical learning process). Dalam artikel ini akan dikonstruksi sebuah LT pertidaksamaan kuadrat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan didactical design research. Adapun partisipan sebanyak 105 siswa kelas X. Pada awal penelitian ini, dilakukan analisis propektif yaitu analisis atas materi pertidaksamaan kuadrat, hambatan belajar dan tingkat berpikir siswa. Kemudian dari hasil analisis ini disusunlah Hipotetical Learning Trajectories yang berupa desain didaktis. Desain didaktis berdasarkan Hypotetical Learning Trajectories ini diimplementasikan dalam pembelajaran. Respon siswa dianalisis secara kualitatif. Hasil analisis ini digunakan untuk merevisi Learning Trajectory, sehingga diperoleh Learning Trajectory alternatif hasil analisis teoritik dan empirik. Akhirnya, artikel ini menawarkan sebuah alternatif learning trajectory pertidaksamaan kuadrat yang berbeda dengan learning trajectories yang ada pada buku pelajaran sekarang. Learning trajectory yang ditawarkan adalah pembelajaran pertidaksamaan yang dimulai dengan pendekatan fungsi.

Abstract

Mathematics is a subject which uses mathematical symbols, such as numbers and graphs, that some students find difficult to learn. To understand it, mathematical visual thinking skills are needed. In one of the schools in Kupang, the students’ mathematical visual thinking ability is low. Many students cannot represent problems with mathematical symbols. To solve this, the teacher uses GeoGebra as a teaching aid. GeoGebra is a software program that has many advantages as a tool for learning mathematics. GeoGebra can be used effectively with the various features it has. The purpose of this research is to describe how to use GeoGebra and what features can be used in GeoGebra to develop mathematical visual thinking abilities. This research was conducted in grade 10 at one of the schools in the city of Kupang. The method of this reseacrh is qualitative descriptive. The result of this research is that there are several GeoGebra features that can help learning, including point, line, algebra input, and pen. These features can be used easily by just clicking on or writing according to the instructions on the GeoGebra page. The implication of this research is that teachers still have to teach students how to use this tool wisely so that its advantages can be maximally utilized, moreover, they can glorify God through using GeoGebra. The conclusion is that GeoGebra is a tool that can help in developing mathematical visual thinking abilities because its features can enable indicators of mathematical visual thinking abilities.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Matematika merupakan mata pelajaran yang identik dengan simbol-simbol matematis seperti angka-angka hingga grafik-grafik yang bisa membuat siswa merasa kesulitan. Untuk memahaminya, dibutuhkan kemampuan visual thinking matematis. Namun masalah yang terjadi pada salah satu sekolah di Kupang, kemampuan visual thinking matematis siswa masih kurang. Banyak dari siswa yang tidak bisa merepresentasikan persoalan-persoalan ke dalam simbol matematis. Untuk memecahkan masalah tersebut, guru menggunakan GeoGebra sebagai media pembelajaran. GeoGebra merupakan aplikasi yang punya banyak kelebihan dalam membantu pembelajaran matematika. GeoGebra dapat digunakan secara efektif dengan berbagai fitur yang dimilikinya. Tujuan penulisan ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana cara menggunakan GeoGebra dan apa saja fitur yang dapat digunakan dalam GeoGebra untuk mengembangkan kemampuan visual thinking matematis.Penelitian ini dilakukan di kelas X pada salah satu sekolah yang ada di kota Kupang Penulisan ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penulisan ini adalah ada beberapa fitur-fitur yang dapat membantu pembelajaran, di antaranya adalah point, line, input algebra, dan pen. Implikasi penelitian ini yaitu guru tetap harus mengajarkan kepada siswa agar dapat menggunakannya dengan bijak sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan secara maksimal, bahkan dapat memuliakan Allah melalui GeoGebra. Kesimpulannya adalah GeoGebra merupakan alat yang dapat membantu dalam mengembangkan kemampuan visual thinking matematis, karena fitur yang dimilikinya dapat mengampu setiap indikator visual thinking matematis.

Abstract

This article discusses the problem of students’ poor understanding of a Biblical Christian Worldview (BCW) as related to their learning mathematics. The problem was discovered through tests and observations that the researcher conducted in a class of grade 11 Science-2 students at a high school in Toraja. The pre-cycle result showed that 23 students had a poor BCW understanding of mathematics. To improve students’ BCW understanding of mathematics, the researcher implemented the Bryan Smith Stage 2 Biblical Integration Model. The instruments that were used were teacher-mentor and peer-teacher observation sheets, student questionnaires, and simple understanding tests. Results showed improvements on the indicator of Creation from 96,2% in the first cycle to 100% in the second cycle, the indicator of Fall 100% in the first and the second cycles, and the indicator of Redemption from 88.8% in the first cycle to 92.5% in the second cycle. Over all, it could be concluded that the implementation of the Bryan Smith Stage 2 Biblical integration model could improve students’ BCW understanding in learning mathematics.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Artikel ini membahas permasalahan mengenai pemahaman Wawasan Kristen Alkitabiah (WAK) siswa yang rendah pada pembelajaran Matematika. Permasalahan tersebut ditemukan berdasarkan observasi dan tes yang dilakukan oleh peneliti di Kelas XI IPA-2 di suatu SMA di Toraja. Hasil prasiklus menunjukkan bahwa 23 siswa memiliki pemahaman BCW yang rendah pada pembelajaran Matematika. Untuk meningkatkan pemahaman BCW siswa pada pembelajaran Matematika, maka penelitian ini menerapkan integrasi Alkitab model Bryan Smith tahap 2. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi guru mentor dan teman sejawat, lembar angket siswa, serta lembar tes pemahaman sederhana. Dari hasil analisis dan pembahasan dapat dilihat peningkatkan pada indikator Creation dari 96,2 % di siklus I menjadi 100% di siklus II, indikator Fall 100% di siklus I dan siklus II, serta indikator Redemption dari 88,8% di siklus I menjadi 92,5% di siklus II. Secara keseluruhan penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan model integrasi Bryan Smith tahap 2 dapat meningkatkan pemahaman BCW siswa pada pembelajaran Matematika.

Abstract

Geometry is a branch of science in mathematics and a course taken by students of mathematics education. Based on students' final exam scores, results were not optimal with several types of errors detected. This study aimed at identify student mistakes in solving geometry problems on the topic of solid figures. The subjects of this study were mathematics education students in the even semester of the 2018/2019 academic year at Universitas Pelita Harapan in Tangerang. The type of research was a qualitative descriptive study. The data collection technique used was a test. The results showed that students' errors in solving geometry problems were concept errors, calculation errors, and a lack of accuracy because they were in a hurry.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Geometri merupakan salah satu cabang ilmu dalam matematika dan merupakan matakuliah yang wajib diikuti oleh mahasiswa program studi pendidikan matematika. Berdasarkan nilai ujian akhir semester mahasiswa didapatkan hasilnya masih kurang maksimal, hal ini memungkinkan terdapat beberapa tipe kesalahan jawaban dari mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kesalahan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan soal UAS geometri pada topik bangun ruang. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa pendidikan matematika semester genap Universitas Pelita Harapan Tangerang tahun akademik 2018/2019. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesalahan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan soal geometri adalah kesalahan konsep, kesalahan hitung, dan kurang teliti karena terburu-buru.

Abstract

Abstract The transition from online learning to offline learning still affects students' learning adaptation. Students' learning adaptation does not go smoothly in face-to-face learning. The impact of online learning has made students accustomed to studying on their own, and some students stop learning when they cannot complete their assignments. This leads to low understanding and motivation among students. Low motivation requires learning support to enhance students' learning achievements, which can be observed through their report card grades. Tenjo tutoring services aim to provide learning support for students. Tenjo tutoring accompanies each student through tutors who come every Saturday and teach students in their respective grade levels. The students who receive tutoring and guidance range from grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 in elementary school to grades 7, 8, and 9 in junior high school. The tutoring program lasts for approximately one year, from August 2022 to May 2023. Based on interviews with the person in charge of Tenjo who directly interacts with the students' parents, it is reported that Tenjo tutoring has greatly helped their children's learning. Abstract

Many students experience obstacles during online learning. One is a lack of interest in learning materials. Students feel bored because they have to stare at a computer screen. The problem of low interest in learning is certainly serious because it can result in low student learning outcomes and learning goals not being achieved optimally. For this reason, students need to be given extra assistance so that their interest in learning can improves again. Therefore, tutoring is needed that can help students with learning difficulties. Sigma tutoring is tutoring that has existed for approximately two years. Now, Sigma Tutoring will continue its vision to guide students in facing learning difficulties. Sigma Tutoring provides free tutoring services for residents, especially children from primary to high school level. This tutoring was held in Perumnas Tangerang with around 20 students and nine tutors. To see the impact of this tutoring, it will be described qualitatively through a distributed questionnaire. As a result, through Sigma's tutoring, students who took lessons had a high interest in learning with an average of 76.23%. Hopefully, Sigma Tutoring can continue to be a blessing for students and tutors can practice their teaching skills.
