Abstract

A tradition is something that needs to continue and must be maintained. The Ya Qawiyyu tradition, better known as Sebar Apem, is a tradition originating from Jatinom Klaten. The Ya Qawiyyu tradition was pioneered by Kyai Ageng Gribig, carried out along with the rapid development of Islam in the Jatinom area during the time Sultan Agung ruled in Mataram in 1613-1645. With a qualitative descriptive method, the researcher tries to explain the meaning of unity and togetherness presented by the Ya Qawiyyu tradition. The Ya Qawiyyu tradition offers a profound view of unity and togetherness. Unity in religious harmony is published together with this tradition. It is creating wholeness and stability in life. In terms of togetherness in the Ya Qawiyyu tradition, it certainly easily provides a harmonious and peaceful atmosphere. It can also increase mutual understanding, mutual appreciation, and mutual respect. Not far from that, togetherness can also strengthen the sense of solidarity and kinship among Muslim and non-Muslim communities. The meaning of unity and togetherness in this tradition can easily be one of the answers amid polarization that sometimes still occurs. Forms of polarization such as disputes, discrimination, and even marginalization among religious adherents are melted with the meaning of unity and togetherness in the Ya Qawiyyu tradition, which teaches the value of tolerance, mutual respect, and living in harmony in society.

Abstract

The Mappacci ritual contains various symbols related to identity and social status. This process involves a series of actions that aim to physically cleanse the bride and groom and prepare them mentally and spiritually to enter a new phase in their lives. Thus, this study provide deeper insight into how the Bugis community interprets marriage as a sacred institution entirely of responsibility. This research investigates the Mappacci procession, comprehensively including the procedures, the roles of the actors, and the symbolic meaning of each stage of the ritual, along with their relationship to the belief system and social structure of the Bugis tribe. The method employed is a type of field research with a qualitative approach, observations, interviews, and documentation for data collection. Descriptive data analysis techniques are also used. The results of the research show that religious values are found in the Mappacci tradition, namely in the Mappasau Botting procession (taking care of the bride), the Cimme Passilli procession (bathing the bride), and Mappanre Temme (completing the recitation of the Qur'an). In addition, the cultural value in the Mappacci tradition lies in the tools or objects used in the Bugis traditional Mappacci process area, which contain meaning and messages, namely head pillows, Bugis sarongs/silk sarongs, banana leaf shoots, jackfruit leaves, pacci leaves, jasmine rice, candles, brown sugar, coconut, and pacci holders or containers

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas kekerasan seksual terhadap laki-laki sebagai bagian dari keadilan gender dan hak asasi manusia. Kekerasan seksual terhadap laki-laki sering kali diabaikan dalam diskusi tentang kekerasan seksual, tetapi artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi perspektif hak asasi manusia dan keadilan gender tentang masalah ini di era kontemporer serta untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan perlindungan terhadap korban kekerasan seksual laki-laki dan menghapus stigma dan stereotip yang terkait dengan korban laki-laki. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif mendalam dengan menggunakan tinjauan literatur dan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa di era kontemporer, telah terjadi pergeseran yang signifikan dalam pemahaman dan perhatian terhadap kekerasan seksual terhadap laki-laki. Banyak lembaga pemerintah dan non-pemerintah yang semakin peduli dan terlibat dalam menangani masalah ini. Masyarakat juga semakin terbuka terhadap isu-isu keadilan gender yang diadvokasi di berbagai bidang, seperti pendidikan, komunitas, dan masyarakat umum. Hal ini menunjukkan adanya kemajuan dalam upaya memerangi kekerasan seksual dan mempromosikan keadilan bagi semua individu, tanpa memandang jenis kelamin.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect of the application of flipped classroom in improving maharatul kalam of PBA UIN Sunan Kalijaga students. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach using a questionnaire method. Students were asked to study the material independently outside the classroom, while the time in class was for discussion and practice of speaking Arabic actively. The result showed that the application flipped classroom can significantly improve students confidence and maharatul kalam in Arabic, although there are some challenges related to access to materials and motivation to learn independently. This study concludes that the flipped classroom method is effective for improving students maharatul kalm in Arabic.

Abstract

This research analyzes gender inequality in Saudi Arabia within the contexts of Wahhabism and Saudi Vision 2030 using Chandra Talpade Mohanty's postcolonial feminist perspective. Through qualitative methodology with a descriptive-analytical approach, this study examines how Wahhabi doctrine has shaped practices that restrict women's roles through the guardianship system, driving ban, and gender segregation. Saudi Vision 2030 has brought significant reforms such as lifting the driving ban, relaxing the guardianship system, and increasing women's workforce participation from 17% (2016) to 33% (2020). However, critical analysis reveals that these reforms function more as instruments of economic modernization and international image improvement rather than fundamental transformations in gender relations. Based on Mohanty's theory, this research identifies three key findings: (1) the importance of understanding gender inequality within specific socio-historical contexts, (2) recognition of Saudi women as active agents negotiating their rights through various forms of resistance, and (3) understanding the intersection between gender policies, global economics, and geopolitics. This research contributes to a more nuanced understanding of the complexities of gender equality struggles in non-Western contexts. Abstrak: Penelitian ini menganalisis ketidaksetaraan gender di Arab Saudi dalam konteks Wahabisme dan Visi Saudi 2030 menggunakan perspektif feminisme postkolonial Chandra Talpade Mohanty. Melalui metodologi kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif-analitis, studi ini mengkaji bagaimana doktrin Wahabi telah membentuk praktik-praktik yang membatasi peran perempuan melalui sistem perwalian, larangan mengemudi, dan segregasi gender. Visi Saudi 2030 telah membawa reformasi signifikan seperti pencabutan larangan mengemudi, pelonggaran sistem perwalian, dan peningkatan partisipasi perempuan dalam angkatan kerja dari 17% (2016) menjadi 33% (2020). Namun, analisis kritis menunjukkan bahwa reformasi ini lebih merupakan instrumen modernisasi ekonomi dan perbaikan citra internasional daripada transformasi fundamental dalam relasi gender. Berdasarkan teori Mohanty, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi tiga temuan utama: (1) pentingnya memahami ketidaksetaraan gender dalam konteks sosio-historis spesifik, (2) pengakuan perempuan Saudi sebagai agen aktif yang menegosiasikan hak mereka melalui berbagai bentuk resistensi, dan (3) pemahaman terhadap interseksi antara kebijakan gender, ekonomi global, dan geopolitik. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada pemahaman yang lebih nuansa tentang kompleksitas perjuangan kesetaraan gender dalam konteks non-Barat. Kata kunci: Feminisme Postkolonial, Wahabisme, Visi Saudi 2030

Abstract

Obtaining knowledge is the right of every human being to be able to bring a better and prosperous life. Humans as Muslims seek knowledge to be an important part and Islam also does not limit useful knowledge. To stay within the corridor of religiously useful knowledge such as Islamic Studies also requires a broad perspective through cross-study reviews. Construction of Islamic Studies can discuss many issues of life in terms of other scientific studies that support or can be referred to as Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies. This article is intended to find out the nature of Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies in terms of the philosophy of science. The study method used is through literature study, data collection based on literature such as books and journals. The results of the study reveal that Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies provides space for humans to overcome the complexities of existing human life problems, because these problems are not only solved based on one field of study. Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies builds a harmonious relationship between Islamic Studies and Science. The relationship between the two needs to be done to contribute to the good of both of them, so that this study can produce comprehensive and moral knowledge.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the function of libraries in increasing knowledge about information, overcoming the problem of disinformation in society, and ensuring healthy press freedom. It is hoped that this will be created with a collaborative approach between libraries, media and the community. The research method used is literature study. The research results show that libraries have a responsibility to educate the public to think critically and evaluate information correctly as institutions that can be trusted to provide access to information. Among the problems faced are the large number of fake news spreading through digital media, a lack of awareness of the importance of trusted sources, and the limitations of certain community groups in gaining access to technology. Therefore, libraries must use the latest technology, develop educational programs on relevant information literacy, and collaborate with other institutions to strengthen efforts to combat disinformation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kenyataan bahwa motivasi belajar santri menjadi aspek penting dalam keberhasilan pendidikan pesantren, namun masih sedikit penelitian yang secara spesifik menelaah pengaruh hukuman berbasis pendidikan terhadap transformasi motivasi santri, khususnya di lingkungan pesantren salafiyah. Sebagian besar studi sebelumnya hanya menyoroti aspek kedisiplinan atau penerapan reward and punishment secara umum tanpa mengaitkan dengan perubahan motivasi belajar santri. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana penerapan hukuman berbasis pendidikan di Pondok Pesantren Al-Kandiyas berpengaruh terhadap transformasi motivasi santri baik secara intrinsik maupun ekstrinsik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus, melibatkan observasi partisipan, wawancara mendalam dengan santri, pengasuh, dan staf pengajar, serta analisis dokumen. Kebaruan penelitian ini terletak pada fokus analisis terhadap transformasi motivasi santri akibat penerapan hukuman edukatif dalam konteks pesantren salafiyah, serta integrasi nilai-nilai pendidikan Islam dengan teori pengkondisian operan Skinner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan hukuman berbasis pendidikan memiliki pengaruh kompleks terhadap motivasi belajar santri. Hukuman yang diterapkan secara bijaksana dan berorientasi pada pembinaan terbukti dapat meningkatkan kedisiplinan dan motivasi belajar. Namun, hukuman yang bersifat otoriter atau fisik cenderung menurunkan motivasi intrinsik dan menimbulkan efek psikologis negatif. Faktor-faktor seperti hubungan antara pengasuh dan santri, dukungan sosial dari teman sebaya, dan lingkungan pesantren juga berperan signifikan dalam mempengaruhi motivasi belajar. Kesimpulannya, penerapan hukuman di pesantren perlu dirancang secara hati-hati agar bersifat edukatif, dengan mempertimbangkan pendekatan yang lebih komprehensif dan holistik dalam upaya meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan perkembangan karakter santri. This study is motivated by the fact that students’ learning motivation is a crucial aspect of educational success in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), yet few studies have specifically examined the influence of education-based punishment on the transformation of students’ motivation, particularly within salafiyah pesantren settings. Most previous research has focused merely on disciplinary aspects or the general application of reward and punishment, without linking them to changes in students’ learning motivation. Therefore, this study aims to analyze how the implementation of education-based punishment at Pondok Pesantren Al-Kandiyas affects the transformation of students’ intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving participant observation, in-depth interviews with students, caregivers, and teachers, as well as document analysis. The novelty of this study lies in its analytical focus on the transformation of students’ motivation resulting from the implementation of educational punishment within a salafiyah pesantren context, as well as the integration of Islamic educational values with Skinner’s operant conditioning theory. The findings reveal that the application of education-based punishment has a complex influence on students’ learning motivation. Punishments that are applied wisely and oriented toward moral development are proven to enhance students’ discipline and motivation to learn. Conversely, authoritarian or physical punishments tend to reduce intrinsic motivation and cause negative psychological effects. Factors such as the relationship between caregivers and students, peer social support, and the pesantren environment also play significant roles in shaping learning motivation. In conclusion, the implementation of punishment in pesantren should be carefully designed to remain educational in nature, taking into account more comprehensive and holistic approaches to fostering students’ motivation and character development.
