Abstract

In South Sumatra, the obesity rate in children reached 13.71% and tends to increase. It is suspected that this increase is related to consumption patterns, especially high intake of simple carbohydrates and adequate fat. This study aims to determine the relationship between simple carbohydrate intake and adequate fat with nutritional status. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 66 elementary school students, selected using the simple random sampling method. Student nutritional status data was measured using the BMI/U (Z-Score) indicator, simple carbohydrate intake and adequate fat data were measured using the SQ-FFQ method. The relationship test used the Spearman Rank test because all variable data were not normally distributed. The results showed an average simple carbohydrate intake of 75.05 ± 29.52 grams/day. Most (69.7%) children had a relatively high simple carbohydrate intake (>50 grams/day). The average fat adequacy was 131.50 ± 25.20% RDA, Most children (83.3%) were in excessive fat adequacy (>110% RDA). The average z score of BMI/A of children was 0.362 ± 1.639 kg/m², 59.1% of children were malnourished with 7.6% of them being underweight and 51.5% being overweight/obese. There was a relationship between simple carbohydrate intake and nutritional status (p = 0.000, r = 0.587). There was a relationship between fat adequacy and nutritional status (p = 0.000, r = 0.808). Simple carbohydrate intake and fat adequacy were positively related to children's nutritional status. Keywords : Simple Carbohydrate Intake, Fat Adequacy, Nutritional Status

Abstract

The purpose of the Community Service (PkM) activity is to provide socialization on the optimal implementation of the deep learning approach using the project-based learning model in the classroom. Participants in the Community Service with SDN 04 Cimande, Bogor Regency, were 15 educators. Based on a survey with partners, there were several problems faced by partners in the field regarding the socialization of the deep learning approach in the classroom. The problem that occurred for partners was that educators wanted to implement the deep learning approach in the classroom optimally. Through discussions with several educators at SDN 04 Cimande, Bogor Regency, the average educator did not understand the implementation of the deep learning approach using the project-based learning model in the classroom. Based on this information, we from the PkM team of Indraprasta PGRI University will provide training to educators at the school, both theoretically and directly in practice. The PkM activity uses presentation, lecture, discussion, or a combination of these methods. Then, to deepen the material that has been presented, training participants are given the opportunity to ask questions. The success of the PkM activity, educators are given the task of implementing the deep learning approach in the classroom two weeks after the activity. The data collection technique is through Google Forms. The success indicator with the formula of the average score of the mindful learning dimension, the meaningful learning dimension, and the joyful learning dimension is more than or equal to 70%. The results of the PkM: 1) the total average score on the mindful learning dimension is 85%, 2) the total average score on the meaningful learning dimension is 87%, and 3) the total average score on the joyful learning dimension is 100%. The conclusion of the PkM results is that educators at SDN 04 Cimande, Bogor Regency can implement the deep learning approach using the project-based learning model.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: One of the important intakes given to infants is exclusive breastfeeding. Training mothers to be ready to breastfeed is done since they are pregnant. Website media makes it easier for mothers to access information online. Objective: To increase the success of exclusive breastfeeding through website-based nutrition education ‘Kiper Si Gizi’ (Kelompok Ibu Peduli ASI dan Gizi) for mothers since pregnancy. Methods: Quasi-experimental design with two-group pre- and post-test control group design and two-group post-test only control group design. The subjects were 30 pregnant women in trimester 3 at Puskesmas Dempet, Demak Regency, who received ‘Kiper Si Gizi’ education and 30 mothers at Puskesmas Wedung II, Demak Regency, who received Maternal and Child Health (MCH) book education. Statistical tests to determine differences in knowledge, attitudes and differences in breastfeeding practices used Independent sample T-test. Chi Square test to test the difference in exclusive breastfeeding success between the two groups. Results: The average change in knowledge of pregnant women after being given education using website media (25%) was more effective (p=0.007) than using MCH book media (16.33%). The average change in the attitude of pregnant women after being given education using website media (Δ=10.20) is more effective (p=0.025) than using MCH book media (Δ=7.4). The breastfeeding practice score of mothers after being educated using the website media (score=9.6) was more effective (p= 0.017) than using the  MCH book media (score=8.5). Mothers who breastfeed exclusively in the website group are more (83.3%) and different (p= 0.001) than the  MCH book group (40.7%).Conclusion: Education with ‘Kiper Si Gizi’ can improve knowledge, attitudes, breastfeeding practices and more exclusive breastfeeding better than the  MCH book. Keywords : Exclusive breastfeeding; MCH book; ‘Kiper Si Gizi’; website

Abstract

The prevalence of obesity in students aged 5-12 years is quite high which is thought to be related to their knowledge and attitudes about balanced nutrition, which can be improved through education using various media. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of animated videos and book covers to increase elementary school students' knowledge and attitudes about balanced nutrition. True experimental research was conducted on two groups of 27 students each, which were determined randomly. One group was given education with an animated video and one group with a book cover. Knowledge and attitudes were measured by questionnaires using questionnaires, before and after treatment. The difference before and after was tested with paired t-test samples and the difference in effectiveness of the two media was tested with independent ttest..The results showed a difference in pre and post knowledge scores in animated videos (32.83±12.93%) and book covers (22.22±14.20%). The difference in pre and post attitude scores in animated videos (7.77±6.90%) and book covers (4.53±6.82%). All of these differences are significant with p=0.001 and p=0.001 in animated videos and p=0.001 and 0.002 on book covers. The difference in knowledge and attitude improvement between animated videos and book covers was 10.61 (p=0.006) and 3.24 (p=0.089). Both media are effective in increasing knowledge and attitudes about balanced nutrition. Animated videos are more effective at increasing knowledge than book covers, but they are equally effective at improving attitudes.
