Abstract

Tarakan City is one of the cities which is famous for its fishery potential. Utilization of fishery products in an efficient and integrated manner is necessary, because fishery products are very susceptible to damage or deterioration of quality so that proper handling is needed, for example through diversification into various processed products. This activity is intended to provide knowledge and skills to PKK group as motivators in the community. This activity was held on Friday, February 7, 2020 which was attended by 40 participants. Activities consist of delivering materials and demonstrations of the manufacture of processed fish and shrimp products. The result of the activity is an increase in the skills and knowledge of the participants in the diversification of various fishery products into nutritious food. Given the great benefits of this activity, it is necessary to conduct similar training to the PKK group regarding packaging techniques so that the products produced can be marketed.

Abstract

Air bersih merupakan kebutuhan manusia baik untuk konsumsi maupun kegiatan sehari-hari. Problematika dalam memperoleh air bersih terdapat di berbagai wilayah dan tersebar makin banyak. Pengetahuan mengenai proses penjernihan air dalam mengatasi kelangkaan air bersih merupakan salah satu yang perlu digiatkan, terlebih penggunaan media yang sederhana dan tersedia di sekitar seperti pasir, sabut kelapa, pasir, dan arang. Tujuan dari pelaksanaan program pengabdian ini adalah peningkatan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan dalam filtrasi air pada anak-anak di Desa Bunyu Selatan. Teknik penjernihan air menggunakan material yang sederhana yaitu pasir, sabut kelapa, dan arang. Metode pada kegiatan ini menggunakan metode ceramah dan demonstrasi, tanya jawab dan praktik langsung oleh anak-anak untuk membuat media filter air dengan material yang sederhana yaitu pasir, sabut kelapa, dan arang. Kegiatan ini menghasilkan tercapainya pemahaman para peserta mengenai ciri-ciri air tercemar dan bersih, serta cara pembuatan filter air sederhana. Ketertarikan para peserta terlihat saat praktik langsung pembuatan filter air secara sederhana dengan pasir, sabut kelapa, dan arang. Evaluasi dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan anak-anak tentang penjernihan air. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman anak-anak di Desa Bunyu Selatan mengenai perancangan alat penjernih air sederhana.

Abstract

Catfish (Clarias sp.) is one of the freshwater commodities that is favored because of its high economic value, rich in protein, can be cultivated in narrow land or yards and of course much in demand by the public. Efforts to develop in cultivation continue to be made, including an increase in seed production. The purpose of this activity is to provide training to partners in this case are students of the Department of Fisheries Cultivation, SMKN 1 Sebatik Barat regarding the semi-artificial spawning system (injection mating) and enrichment of feed with turmeric flour to support increased production and quality of catfish seeds. The methods used are socialization and counseling with lectures, hands-on practice related to injecting mating techniques with ovaprim hormone and making feed enriched with turmeric flour. The results of the activity showed an increase in partner knowledge regarding the benefits of turmeric and the role of hormone use in hatchery activities. In addition, partners have also been able to select gonadally mature broodstock, make feed enriched with turmeric flour and perform injection mating of catfish with hormones appropriately. The hope for follow-up is that partners can apply the techniques that have been learned for hatchery activities so that the scarcity of seeds, especially in Sebatik Barat, can be overcome and no longer have to bring in from outside.

Abstract

Tarakan City is a city that has potential natural resources to be developed. One of the areas in the town of Tarakan is Tanjung Pasir, where the residents live in the coastal area. This study aims to determine the quality of the waters of the dune by using the plankton community structure as a water bioindicator. As a research object, Plankton communities in Tanjung Pasir waters include abundance, diversity index, uniformity index, and dominance index. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method with the research location being carried out at two points, namely Station I in the mangrove area and Station II close to residential areas. Sampling was conducted every two days, 15 times out in the field. The types of phytoplankton found in five classes, namely Bacillariophyceae, Coscinodiscophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Mediophyceae, and Dinophycea lessons and zooplankton from Crustacea class at Station I and Station II. Station I and Station II were from classes. The most abundant types of phytoplankton are found in Bacillariophyceae and Dinophyceae because these two classes dominate all kinds of phytoplankton worldwide. The abundance value of phytoplankton at; Station I was 354 cells/l; at Station II, it was 202 cells/l. The abundance of zooplankton at; Station I was 40 ind/l, and at Station, II was 38 ind/l. The diversity index at the two stations is in the medium category, with the uniformity index being in the high uniformity category and the dominance index at each low. Based on the value of the plankton community structure, Tanjung Pasir waters are classified as lightly polluted. Environmental factors of Tanjung Pasir waters in Tarakan city include the physical and chemical characteristics of Station I and Station II, which are still suitable for the life of aquatic organisms.

Abstract

Genjer adalah hasil samping pengolahan udang windu (Penaeus monodon) bentuk headless yang dapat dikonsumsi dan berpotensi untuk diolah menjadi bioproduk berbasis protein seperti isolat dan hidrolisat isolat protein. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji potensi genjer udang windu sebagai bahan baku pengolahan isolat dan hidrolisat isolat protein berdasarkan karakteristik bahan baku dan rendemen dari pengolahan isolat dan hidrolisat isolat protein. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa edible portion pada udang windu sebesar 49,38%, sedangkan sisanya merupakan processing waste sebesar 50,62%. Genjer udang windu memiliki proporsi sebesar 15,38% dari keseluruhan total berat udang. Genjer udang windu mengandung protein sebesar 14,31±0,02%, kadar lemak sebesar 0,78±0,01%, kadar abu sebesar 1,87±0,01%, kadar air sebesar 82,22±0,03% dan kadar karbohidrat sebesar 0,83±0,01%. Rendemen Isolat protein dari genjer udang windu sebesar 7,74±0,07%, sedangkan rendemen hidrolisat isolat protein dari genjer udang windu sebesar 31,35±3,43%. Limbah genjer udang memiliki potensi sebagai bahan baku pengolahan isolat dan hidrolisat protein. Optimasi proses pengolahan perlu dilakukan untuk mendapatkan rendemen lebih besar.
