Abstract

One of energy source alternative that can be used as a substitute for fossil fuel-based energy, is bioethanol. Bioethanol is biochemistry fluid from fermentation process of sugars by using microorganism. The raw material of bioethanol production is very diverse, like corn cob. Corn cob can be used as raw material for bioethanol production because contain of cellulose. This study aims to make bioethanol from corn cob with delignification process and using Simultaneous Saccharification and Fermentation (SSF) method with variation of cellulase enzyme are 3%, 5%, 7%, 9%, and 11% v/v substrate and fermentation duration are 72, 96, and 120 hours. From this research were obtained the highest bioethanol concentration is 8% on the addition of cellulase enzymes 11% v/v substrate with 72 hour fermentation time.Keyword: Bioethanol, delignification, SSF

Abstract

The increasing use of fuel oil in line with population growth and industrial growth, demands a thought to explore and develop potential alternative energy sources. Alternative energy sources that can be used as renewable energy include briquettes derived from biomass. One of the biomass from agricultural waste is empty palm fruit bunches and spent bleaching earth, which is waste from the CPO bleaching process that is not used optimally. Utilization of empty palm fruit bunches by adding spent bleaching earth which can be used as solid fuel in the form of briquettes through a carbonization process with the addition of tapioca as adhesive. Keywords: Briquettes, empty palm fruit bunches, pressure, tapioca

Abstract

Peat water is a type of surface water that contains natural organic materials, so that cause brownish-colored water, taste and smell, in addition to the color of peat water caused by organic acid. It viewed from quality, peat water has not include the standard of drink water quality standard. Peat water needs treated to be used as a source of clean water and drink water. The adsorption process can be one of the peat water treatment alternatives by utilizing one of agricultural industry waste in the form of biosolid Palm Oil Industry as natural adsorben. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of stirring speed and contact time on colour in peat water. In this study, variations of stirring speeds were used at 90, 120 and 150 rpm and contact time variation at 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes. The best results at 150 rpm stirring speed and 90 minutes contact time were found to decrease the efficiency of colour degradation is 238,400 mg/g and efficiency decrease equal to 68,703%.Keywords: Peat water, Biosolid, Adsorption

Abstract

WWTP mud (Waste Water Treatment Plant) production of palm oil is the result of sediment from liquid waste containing high organic matter and has not been utilized optimally. WWTP mud produced by palm oil by adding rubber seed shells that can be used as solid fuel in the form of briquettes through a carbonization process with the addition of crude glycerol as an adhesive and can increase the calorific value of the briquettes produced. The adhesive used is crude glycerol because it has high viscosity and density characteristics which can be used as adhesives. In this study the variables used were IPAL sludge ratios for palm oil and rubber seed shell production (90:10, 80:20, 70:30, and 60:40% bb) and pressing pressures (50, 75, and 100 bar) with percentages crude glycerol 40% of the total weight of briquettes. The best compressive strength of 0.1428 kg / cm2 at ratio of 60: 40% with a pressure of 100 bar. The process conditions that have a very significant effect on the compressive strength that significantly influences is ratio of raw materials and pressing pressure which affects the yield. Keywords: Glycerol Crude, Carbonization, Briquette, IPAL Mud (Waste Water Treatment Plant) produced by palm oil, Rubber Seed Shell.

Abstract

Waste Generation , Composition and Characteristics is very important planning waste recycling systems in waste management. This research was conducted in Development Area V with a total sample of 92 respon, 69 Payung Sekaki districts and 94 Marpoyan Damai districts. Determination of domestic waste generated based on the SNI 19-3964-1994 method carried out for eight consecutive days. The results showed that the average solid for household waste in Tampan Subdistrict was 0,150 kg / person / day. While the average amount of household waste in Payung Sekaki is 0,179 kg / person / day, and the average amount of waste generation in Marpoyan Damai sub-district is 0,132 kg / person / day. The largest composition of organic waste is dominated by organic waste at 52,41%. The results of physical characteristics in the form of compaction factors were 1,14 kg/liters, and chemical characteristics for water content were 20,68%, volatile content was 62,53%, ash content was 9.69% and fixed carbon was 12,8%. The potential for household organic waste recycling in the Development Area V is divided become III step, obtained from is recycling by recycable, composting and RDF (Reduse Derived Fuel). Keywords: generation , Composition, Characteristics of waste, Recycling potential Domestic waste.

Abstract

Empty palm bunches as the most waste generated from the processing of fresh fruit bunches have the potential to be used as renewable energy source in the form of biomass briquettes. This can be seen form the availability are ±23% from the all process and have thermal energy is ±4.958,46 cal/gr. However, the burning of empty palm bunches briquettes as solid fuel for household can effect the indoor air quality, so need to do study test. In this study will test the gas pollutant CO dan NO2 from the burnng of empty palm bunches briquettes use the adsorbent method with impinger. The test will doing in 1 hour in the room that has 15% surface area ventilation of the floor surface area. The test result will be compared with quality standar PerMenKes RI No. 1077 in 2011. The result show that there 4,75 ppm CO and 0,033 ppm NO2. Based on the result of this study that the burnng of empty palm bunches briquettes with the room that has 15% surface area ventilation of the floor surface area were below quality standar PerMenKes RI No. 1077 in 2011 about Pedoman Penyehatan Udara dalam Ruangan Rumah. Keywords : briquettes, empty palm bunches, indoor air quality, concentrasion of gaseous pollutans.

Abstract

Increased plastic waste has a negative impact on the environment if not further processed, Because plastic waste is nonbiodegradable One method that can be used to process plastic waste is pyrolysis method. The purpose of this study was to observe the effect of process variables (temperature and ratio of PP plastic: PS) to yield and characterization of pyrolysed oil produced. the pyrolysis process is carried out at temperature variations of 300 ° C, 350 ° C, and 400 ° C. And variation of PP plastic ratio: PS 100: 0, 80:20, 60:40 and 50:50 hours 120 minutes And active clay catalyst 1.5% of the raw material. The highest yield was 68.87% at 400 ° C and variation of PP: PS 50:50. Characterization of pyrolysis oil obtained in the form of density 0,761 gr / ml, kinematic viscosity 2,961 cSt, flash point 38oC and calorific value 44,673 MJ / kg are in the range of diesel spesifications. Keywords : active clay , Pyrolysis, polypropylene, polystyrene, , pirolitic oil
