Abstract

Pandan leaves are known as an herbal medicinal plant and are widely used for various diseases. The bioactive compound of pandan leaves has been exhibited to have pharmacological activity as an anti-bacterial. This SLR research aimed to determine the method and type of solvent used to isolate secondary metabolite from pandan leaves. The method used in this research is the PRISMA 2020 using the Publish or Perish application. Articles were obtained from Google Scholar. The evaluation results in this study found that 28 manuscripts fulfil the criteria for isolating natural compounds. Based on the SLR results, it was discovered that the disc diffusion method was frequently employed in this research in ten articles due to its high sensitivity, ease of extraction, and low cost. Meanwhile, ethanol is the most commonly employed solvent in this research because it is inexpensive, low in toxicity, and soluble in water and fat. This study's findings can be utilized to help researchers conduct isolation on natural materials.

Abstract

Rapid industrial development has caused an increase in the volume of waste such as styrofoam and rubber tires that are difficult to degrade naturally in nature. Utilization of waste as a thermal insulator is one of the best solutions and can overcome environmental problems. This material component has low thermal conductivity properties because of its ability to inhibit heat. The study aims to determine the effectiveness of Styrofoam and rubber tires at each additional thickness of the thermal insulator in retaining heat. This study uses an experimental method by observing the comparison of different material thickness variations, namely 0, 1, 3, 5 cm and measuring the temperature every 5 minute interval, for half an hour. The results of each measurement of the addition of styrofoam and rubber tires at a thickness of 5 cm produced the smallest heat transfer. The results of the average temperature comparison at a thickness of 5 cm of styrofoam were 69.28 ℃ while rubber tires were 67 ℃. This also shows the ability of styrofoam to retain heat better than rubber tires. The data from this study can be used as a reference in the management of styrofoam and rubber tire waste. This research innovation can contribute to the problem of waste that is difficult to degrade naturally.

Abstract

The village of Jebak, located in the Tembesi District of Batanghari Regency, has an abundance of coconut trees. Generally, the villagers focus solely on processing the flesh of the fruit, while by-products such as coconut husks and shells are left unused and end up as waste. This activity aims to educate the community on how to process coconut shells into briquettes, offering an alternative to fossil fuels and a business opportunity to enhance the local economy. This program is implemented using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method through Kukerta (KKN) as a form of community service that emphasizes independence, creativity, and awareness of the community’s existing assets. The process of this community service activity is carried out through several stages: observation, planning, socialization, demonstration, and evaluation. The results show that 80% of the villagers in Jebak lack knowledge about briquettes. Therefore, socialization regarding briquette production is a crucial step in introducing the potential of local resources. Through hands-on demonstrations, the community can develop practical skills for independently producing briquettes. This community empowerment program should continue and expand by involving more community members and educational institutions so that skill development can contribute more significantly to the local economy and environmental preservation in Jebak. In this way, the people of Jebak are expected not only to achieve economic independence but also to contribute positively to environmental sustainability. Desa Jebak yang terletak di Kecamatan Tembesi Kabupaten Batanghari banyak ditemui pohon kelapa. Umumnya masyarakat desa hanya fokus mengolah hasil daging buah. Sedangkan hasil samping dari buah seperti sabut dan tempurung kelapa tidak dimanfaatkan dan berakhir menjadi limbah. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengedukasi masyarakat mengenai pengolahan limbah tempurung kelapa menjadi briket sebagai alternatif bahan bakar fosil dan sebagai peluang usaha untuk meningkatkan perekonomian daerah. Program ini dilaksanakan menggunakan metode Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) melalui Kukerta (KKN) sebagai bentuk pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang berfokus pada kemandirian, kreatif dan terbentuknya kesadaran atas aset yang dimiliki oleh masyarakat. Proses kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan melalui beberapa tahapan yaitu pengamatan, perencanaan, sosialisasi, demonstrasi dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa 80% masyarakat Desa Jebak belum memiliki pengetahuan tentang briket. Sehingga sosialisasi mengenai pembuatan briket menjadi langkah penting untuk memperkenalkan potensi sumber daya lokal di daerah tersebut. Melalui demonstrasi yang dilakukan masyarakat dapat mengembangkan keterampilan praktis dalam memproduksi briket secara mandiri. Program pemberdayaan masyarakat ini hendaknya terus dilanjutkan dan diperluas dengan melibatkan lebih banyak masyarakat serta institusi pendidikan, sehingga peningkatan keterampilan dapat berkontribusi lebih besar terhadap perekonomian lokal dan pelestarian lingkungan di Desa Jebak. Dengan demikian, masyarakat di Desa Jebak diharapkan tidak hanya mandiri secara ekonomi, tetapi juga berkontribusi positif terhadap lingkungan.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study investigates the relationship between students’ attitudes and their motivation to study physics in vocational high schools. Recognizing that physics is often perceived as a difficult subject, this research seeks to understand how affective factors influence student engagement and achievement, particularly in vocational education settings where applied sciences are critical. Methodology: The study employs a quantitative descriptive design with a correlational approach, using validated questionnaires distributed to vocational students. To enrich the quantitative findings, semi-structured interviews were conducted to explore students' perceptions more deeply based on specific indicators of attitude and motivation. Data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics, particularly Pearson correlation analysis. Main Findings: The results revealed that both students’ attitudes towards physics and their motivation to learn were generally in the “fairly good” category. A positive and significant correlation between the two variables was found, with a moderate Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.622, indicating that students with a more positive attitude tend to have higher motivation levels. This emphasizes the vital role of affective domains in supporting physics learning outcomes. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study introduces a novel integrated analytical framework that merges quantitative correlation data with qualitative insights, providing a deeper understanding of the synergy between attitudes and motivation. Unlike previous research that often examined these factors independently, this study emphasizes their interrelated impact on vocational physics education, offering new directions for designing affective-based learning interventions aimed at improving student cognitive, affective, and psychomotor performance in technical fields.

Abstract

Background: Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat untuk pengolahan limbah cair batik jambi telah dilakukan melalui sosialisasi. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk menyediakan informasi tentang pengolahan limbah cair batik jambi menggunakan metode yang sederhana. Topik aktivitas ini sangat penting karena minimnya Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah di sentra batik yaitu hanya ada satu Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah yang menjangkau tujuh rumah batik. Metode: Mitra dalam pengabdian ini adalah Rumah Batik Siti Hajir Kecamatan Pelayangan, Kota Jambi, dengan empat puluh peserta. Sosialisasi ini dibagi dalam beberapa tahap yaitu persiapan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Degradasi dengan matahari menjadi tema yang disampaikan kepada peserta karena telah terbukti dapat mendegradasi 60,34% limbah cair batik jambi.  Hasil: Berdasarkan kegiatan tersebut, pengrajin batik jambi sangat antusias menerima informasi penting ini. Mereka memahami bahwa paparan secara langsung cahaya matahari selama beberapa hari dapat mendegradasi limbah secara alami. Hal ini karena cahaya matahari memiliki panjang gelombang 310-2300 nm. Waktu radiasi sinar matahari yang lebih lama, semakin lebih banyak radikal *OH yang terbentuk sehingga partikel ini yang akan bereaktif pada ikatan rangkap dalam senyawa limbah cair batik. Kesimpulan: Kegiatan ini memiliki keuntungan untuk pengrajin batik yang tidak memiliki Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah. Metode ini dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif untuk pengolahan limbah cair batik sebelum limbah dibuang ke lingkungan.

Abstract

Limbah cair batik mengandung polutan logam berat yang berbahaya bagi lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis dan konsentrasi logam berat dalam limbah cair batik dari delapan lokasi industri di Jambi (Sampel I-VIII). Sampel limbah cair dianalisis menggunakan instrumen Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya variasi konsentrasi 13 jenis logam berat Ag, As, Cd, Cr, Co, Cu, Fe, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sn dan Zn dengan beberapa logam Ag, Cd, Hg melebihi baku mutu Permen LHK No. 5 Tahun 2014. Penggunaan ICPMS pada limbah cair batik Jambi adalah cara inovatif untuk mengetahui pencemaran logam berat secara lebih tepat. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pemahaman tentang dampak limbah batik terhadap lingkungan dan kesehatan di Jambi, serta membantu pengembangan strategi pengelolaan limbah yang lebih baik.

Abstract

Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder caused by acetylcholine hydrolysis that impairs cognitive brain function. This research aims to determine the interaction and dynamic of ligands from Moringa oleifera on AChE through Lipinski's Rule, ADMET properties, molecular docking calculations, and molecular dynamic simulations. Lipinski's Rule calculation provided ligand limits that adhere to druglikeness properties. ADMET results also showed that several ligands satisfy ADMET properties. Pterygospermine has lower binding energy than the ligand control (-10.28 kcal mol-1) with amino acid residues of TYR133 and GLU202. It indicates a favorable interaction between the AChE receptor and ligand in the inhibition process. Based on molecular docking calculations, pterygospermine inhibits the AChE receptor at the Long, narrow aromatic gorge active site. According to molecular dynamic simulations, the MMPBSA energy for pterygospermine is 37.377 kJ mol-1. The samples showed a total average RMSD of 2 Å, suggesting no significant conformational changes throughout the simulation. The sample's average RMSF value is around 2 Å, suggesting favorable interactions with the receptor during simulation. However, this data is different from the ligand control interaction mode. Molecular dynamic investigations of the pterygospermine ligand in the complex revealed the stability and unfolded effect on the protein. The results of this study propose a candidate anti-Alzheimer's ligand from Moringa oleifera against the AChE receptor. In practice, these results can contribute to research studies exploring natural ingredients from plants with medicinal potential in drug discovery. These results can be validated using further research in vitro and in vivo.

Abstract

Background: Sebanyak 14,8% masyarakat Indonesia mengalami kulit kering dan rasa gatal yang dapat memicu peradangan. Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) berpotensi menjadi solusi alternatif karena memiliki kandungan asam laurat, tokoferol, dan fenolik yang bermanfaat untuk kesehatan. Potensi kelapa sebagai bahan baku VCO di Provinsi Jambi mencapai 116 ton, namun pemanfaatannya di bidang pendidikan masih terbatas. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan sebagai bentuk pemberdayaan komoditas kelapa serta meningkatkan keterampilan siswa SMAN 1 Kota Jambi melalui pelatihan produksi dan uji mutu VCO. Metode: Kegiatan dilakukan mulai dari persiapan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Hasil: Terlaksanakanya pengabdian ini membuat siswa, siswi dan guru SMAN 1 Kota Jambi sangat antusias. Mereka jadi lebih memahami potensi dari buah kelapa, cara mengolah buah kelapa menjadi produk VCO, serta memahami cara menganalisis mutu produk VCO yang sesuai dengan SNI 7381:2008. Kedua jenis VCO memiliki nilai pH 5 yang memenuhi standar, sedangkan densitas VCO murni 0,963 g/mL dan VCO ekstrak nanas 0,967 g/m. Kesimpulan: Kegiatan ini berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan siswa dalam aspek produksi serta analisis mutu produk, sekaligus memberikan keuntungan bagi sekolah karena produk yang dihasilkan memiliki daya jual di pasaran.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the Halal Study Center in every State Islamic University in Indonesia. Data collection in this study was gained using the interview method and also literature review. Interviews were conducted directly with several sources, while the literature review was performed by collecting journals regarding the research problems. The findings show that eight State Islamic University already have halal study centers out of the total number of State Islamic University in Indonesia, 27 in total. Furthermore, some of the State Islamic University that have established halal study centers also have development activities. The practical implications of this paper provide new knowledge for the State Islamic University that will establish a halal study center. This is the first article that discusses the development of research trends in the halal study center at the State Islamic University and provides the latest comprehensive literature review until 2021.

Abstract

There are differences in the mosques performed before and during the Covid-19 pandemic, but these differences do not hinder the mosque's goals. This study aims to find out how the role of mosques in fostering reading the Qur'an during the Covid-19 pandemic and the inhibiting and supporting factors. Research on the involvement of mosques in the development of reading the Koran during the pandemic has been explored using a qualitative case study approach. The data collected was obtained using field research methods and literature studies. The findings in this study explain that the power of mosques as educational centers continues during the Covid-19 pandemic. The spirit of reading the Koran during the pandemic encountered several obstacles. This study provides distribution in theory and practice for Muslims during the Covid-19 pandemic for empowering mosques as an educational center.
