Abstract

Abstract

Leadership approaches in public sector organizations face distinct challenges in promoting work‒life balance and performance while maintaining employee engagement. Authentic leadership has emerged as a promising framework for addressing these challenges; however, limited research has examined its effectiveness within Indonesian government institutions. This study examines the influence of authentic leadership on work‒life balance and employee performance, with employee engagement as a mediating variable at the Department of Communication and Information Technology (Diskominfo) in Banjarbaru city, Indonesia. Using a quantitative approach with a causal design, this study surveyed 64 employees through a saturation sampling method. The data were analyzed via structural equation modeling-partial least squares (SEM‒PLS) to evaluate both direct and indirect relationships among the variables. Authentic leadership positively influenced work‒life balance (β=0.618, t=5.934, p<0.001) and employee performance (β=0.683, t=9.439, p<0.001). Employee engagement mediated the relationships between authentic leadership and work-life balance (β=0.656, t=6.112, p<0.001) and between authentic leadership and employee performance (β=0.632, t=4.682, p<0.001). The indirect effects of employee engagement (0.454 for work‒life balance; 0.471 for performance) were stronger than the direct effects (0.147 for work‒life balance; 0.229 for performance), confirming the partial mediating role of employee engagement. Authentic leadership significantly enhances work‒life balance and employee performance in public sector organizations, primarily by strengthening employee engagement. Government institutions should prioritize the development of authentic leadership capabilities and the implementation of policies that support employee engagement to optimize both organizational performance and employee well-being.

Abstract

This study examines how a shift work system affects employees’ work motivation, considering social support as a mediating mechanism. The research took place at Gambut Barakat Type A Terminal, South Kalimantan, a public service facility that operates continuously with rotating morning, afternoon, and night schedules. A quantitative, causal comparative design was employed, and all 35 shift employees were surveyed using standardized instruments for shift work and social support. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. The results indicate that the shift work system has a positive impact on work motivation (β = 0.536) and also enhances perceived social support (β = 0.763). Social support has a positive effect on motivation (β = 0.383) and partially mediates the relationship between shift work and motivation (β = 0.409). The model yields an R² of 0.744, indicating that 74.4% of the variance in motivation is explained by the combined effect of shift work and social support. These findings highlight the importance of transparent and well-managed rosters accompanied by a supportive interpersonal climate. In continuous public service operations, equitable scheduling, combined with peer and supervisory support, can enhance employee motivation and help sustain performance over time.

Abstract

This study delves into the critical relationship between technostress, digital competence, and employee performance at PT Air Minum Bandarmasih (Perseroda), with job satisfaction as a key mediating variable. The primary objective is to address the gap in existing research by examining how these technological factors influence employee outcomes within the specific context of a state-owned water utility company. Using a quantitative approach with a sample of 146 staff-level employees, the study employs Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling and SEM-PLS analysis to build upon previous studies by providing a nuanced understanding of these dynamics. The findings offer a significant novelty by confirming the negative and significant impact of technostress on both job satisfaction and performance, while simultaneously highlighting the positive and significant effect of digital competence. Crucially, the research establishes the vital role of job satisfaction as a mediator, demonstrating that managing technological demands and enhancing digital skills are not just about efficiency but are foundational to fostering employee well-being and, consequently, improving overall performance in the digital era.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to find out the impact of Current Ratio, Net Profit Margin, and Debt to Equity Ratio on Return on Asset and Stock Return. The data used is a source of data that has been available both internal and external data and data can be accessed through the internet and publication of information. Data used is the financial report of the sub-sector food and beverages companies listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange period 2018-2022. Analysis methods show that Current Ratio and Debt to Equity Ratio have no influence on Return on Asset and Stock Return. Net Profit Margin has an effect on Returns on Assets and Asset Return. Return On Assets has an influence upon Stock Return. Return on Asset cannot mediate the Current Ratio and Debt to Equity Ratio against the Stock Return. Return on Asset can mediate the Net Profit Margin against the Stock Return.
