Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the talaqi method in Qur’an memorization integrated with the One Day One Ayat approach at Al-Farabi Integrated Junior High School, Deli Serdang, in response to the need for effective, developmentally appropriate tahfizh strategies at the secondary level. The study addresses how the combined approach is implemented, the outcomes it produces, and the challenges encountered in practice. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and administrators, and analysis of program documentation. The findings indicate that the tahfizh program is systematically organized through grade-based memorization targets, daily talaqi sessions complemented by muraja’ah, and periodic evaluations. This implementation contributes to improved accuracy of recitation, stronger memorization (mutqin), and increased student discipline, supported by teacher commitment, a conducive Islamic school culture, standardized mushaf, and parental involvement. Nevertheless, limitations in instructional time, variations in students’ memorization abilities, and uneven family support remain significant challenges. The study argues that integrating talaqi with the One Day One Ayat approach offers a pedagogically sound and sustainable model for Qur’an memorization in Islamic secondary education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects in enhancing teachers’ spiritual role-modeling at Rahmat Islamiyah Elementary School, Medan. The research employed a qualitative approach using field study methods, including observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the systematic management of Islamic Religious Education (PAI), encompassing planning, implementation, and evaluation, plays a pivotal role in shaping teachers’ attitudes and behaviors as spiritual role models for students. Teachers function not merely as transmitters of knowledge but as exemplars of moral and spiritual integrity in their daily school interactions. Furthermore, the study reveals that teachers who consistently apply holistic management practices demonstrate strong spiritual discipline both within and beyond the classroom. Strengthening the management of Islamic Religious Education therefore enhances teachers’ capacity for spiritual exemplarity and contributes significantly to the development of students’ religious character.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze calligraphy learning strategies in fostering students’ creativity and strengthening their love for the Qur'an at Daarul Hikmah Islamic Boarding School. This research is important because studies specifically examining the integration of calligraphy learning with the development of creativity and students’ emotional attachment to the Qur'an in Islamic boarding schools remain limited. This study employed a qualitative approach using a field research method. Data were collected through observations, interviews with the principal, calligraphy teachers, and students, as well as documentation. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the calligraphy learning strategy was implemented through three main stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. In the planning stage, teachers prepared the curriculum, annual programs, weekly programs, and syllabus adapted to the boarding school context. In the implementation stage, teachers applied demonstration methods combined with lectures, direct practice, projector-based learning media, and assistance from teaching assistants to support students’ understanding. The evaluation stage was conducted through daily assessments, weekly tests, and final examinations for each khat style. The findings also show improvements in students’ creativity, particularly in originality of design, neatness of writing, accuracy of letter structure, and students’ confidence in producing calligraphic works. In addition, students demonstrated increased enthusiasm for reading, memorizing, and appreciating verses of the Qur'an through calligraphy activities. These findings imply that structured calligraphy learning can contribute to the development of artistic skills and support Qur'anic appreciation among students in Islamic boarding schools.
