Abstract

Mangosteen farmers in Tasikmalaya Regency experience marketing difficulties when harvesting mangosteen. So it is necessary to use mangosteen as a raw material for products. The development of processed mangosteen peel products that have been carried out includes food ingredients, beverage ingredients, and health. This is due to the high levels of antioxidants which are good for health. Farmers and researchers in Tasikmalaya Regency process mangosteen peel as antioxidant animal feed. However, feed production activities have not been carried out commercially because we do not yet know the level of efficiency and added value of feed. So this research aims to determine the level of efficiency. The research method used was carried out using two approaches, namely observational and quantitative tests. Descriptive analysis is to measure the effectiveness of mangosteen peel antioxidants as animal feed. Qualitative analysis uses a survey approach with sampling using started random sampling. The number of samples in this study was 20 breeders. The analysis tool used is the Stochastic Frontier. The results of this research indicate that the production of processed mangosteen peel products as duck feed is inefficient. However, several things must be considered, including giving concentrate and giving mangosteen peel powder. Apart from that, there is more intensive handling carried out by Cihateup duck breeders to increase the quality and quantity of eggs.

Abstract

The agricultural sector is a vital pillar of the Indonesian economy, including through the export of high-value horticultural commodities such as mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana). Indonesia, particularly West Java, is a major mangosteen producer, with China serving as the largest destination market due to the increasing demand for quality tropical fruit. Despite substantial export opportunities, mangosteen export performance is influenced by global economic factors such as international prices, exchange rates, and the purchasing power of destination countries, as reflected in Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This study aims to analyze the factors influencing demand for Indonesian mangosteen exports to China for the 2015–2024 period. The method used is multiple linear regression analysis with the independent variables being mangosteen prices, the Rupiah/Yuan exchange rate, and China's GDP. Data were obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the Ministry of Trade, and other international institutions. The results show that all three variables have a significant simultaneous effect. Partially, prices and China's GDP have a significant positive effect, while the exchange rate has a significant negative effect. These findings emphasize the importance of price stability and strengthening trade relations to increase Indonesian mangosteen exports.

Abstract

The establishment of a tourist village with grapes as a tourist attraction in a suboptimal area is strongly influenced by the level of efficiency, both technically and economically. Suboptimal land in Pangandaran Regency is characterized by dryness, so inefficiency in input use can lead to low production and productivity levels in grape cultivation. Furthermore, the presence of a tourist village has an impact on the social life of the local community. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence grape cultivation as an agritourism activity. In addition, to measure the technical and economic efficiency of grape cultivation at the household scale. The method used in this study was parametric statistics with the Stochastic Frontier Analysis approach. The sample was selected through purposive sampling, comprising 60 respondents who cultivate plants. The research respondents were selected with the criteria of farmers who have grown grapes for more than 2 years. The results showed that the level of efficiency of grape cultivation in the yard has a technical efficiency value of 0.856. Factors that influence the level of technical efficiency are the number of trees, the amount of manure, the amount of growth fertilizer, and labor. Meanwhile, the socioeconomic factor that influences the level of technical inefficiency is the age of the farmer. The age of the farmer has a significant impact on the level of inefficiency in grape cultivation activities. The recommendation from this research is that input subsidy programs, such as compost fertilizer, should continue to be provided to grape farmers. Comparative studies with other tourist villages should be conducted to obtain market information. Additionally, training programs for the young generation in grape cultivation should be implemented to maintain agrotourism.

Abstract

Digital transformation in the agricultural sector has become an essential driver of agribusiness supply chain improvement, particularly in regions facing structural productivity challenges such as West Java. This study specifically aims to examine how agricultural technology adoption, e-commerce utilization, and process efficiency influence agribusiness supply chain performance, while explicitly identifying the extent to which digital-based practices strengthen operational integration among agribusiness actors. Unlike previous studies that focus only on one or two aspects of digitalization, this research offers novelty by simultaneously analyzing three key digital transformation dimensions and empirically testing their combined contribution to agribusiness supply chain performance in a developing-country context. Using a quantitative survey approach involving 120 agribusiness respondents selected through purposive sampling, the study employs multiple linear regression to validate the proposed model. The findings show that technology adoption significantly enhances productivity and accuracy in land and resource management; e-commerce utilization expands market reach and improves transaction efficiency; and process efficiency accelerates product flow within the supply chain. All classical assumption tests confirm the model’s validity and reliability. This research contributes new empirical evidence on how integrated digital transformation initiatives strengthen agribusiness supply chain performance, offering practical insights for policymakers, agro-entrepreneurs, and digital agriculture developers.

Abstract

Efforts to increase production and productivity have been carried out by the Agricultural Extension Agency (BPP) through POPT (Plant Organism Control Program).). One of them is the activity of increasing mangosteen production in the Sumberhejo Lestari Farmer Group, Tasikmalaya Regency. So it is necessary to observe the level of efficiency, the factors that affect the level of mangosteen production, and the causes of the inefficiency in mangosteen production. The analytical method in this study uses the stochastic frontier method with three steps. Step 1 constructs an estimate of the Cobb-Douglas production function. Step 2 Determination of factors and efficiency level of mangosteen using stochastic frontier. Then step 3 determines the source of inefficiency in mangosteen production activities. The results of this study indicate that the factors of mangosteen production activities include land area, number of trees, labor, organic fertilizer, NPK fertilizer, and production costs. the factors that influence mangosteen production activities are the number trees and land area at the 5% level of significance. This is because the mangosteen tree is an ancestral tree and it was not nursed from the start. The land area has a negative effect because there is no farmer effort in planting mangosteen. The level of technical efficiency in mangosteen farming activities is said to be efficient (81.6%). Sources indicating inefficiency are land ownership status and length of formal education.
