Abstract

The rapid growth of social media-based commerce has significantly influenced consumer behavior, particularly in the skincare industry, where digital interaction and consumer-generated information play important roles in purchasing decisions. This study aims to examine the effect of social commerce features and electronic word of mouth (e-WOM) on consumers’ purchase intentions for local skincare products in Central Java. This research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method involving 150 respondents who had experience purchasing or using local skincare products. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire measured using a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25. The analytical techniques included validity testing, reliability testing, classical assumption testing, multiple linear regression analysis, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination analysis. The results indicate that social commerce features have a positive and significant effect on purchase intention. Furthermore, electronic word of mouth also has a positive and significant effect on purchase intention. The simultaneous test confirms that social commerce features and e-WOM significantly influence purchase intention, with an Adjusted R² value of 0.510, indicating that both variables explain 51.0% of consumer purchase intention variation. These findings demonstrate that interactive digital features and positive consumer recommendations are essential factors in strengthening consumer confidence toward local skincare products. This study provides practical implications for local skincare businesses to optimize social commerce strategies and encourage positive electronic word-of-mouth to improve competitiveness in the digital marketplace.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the local skincare industry in Indonesia has intensified competition among domestic and international brands, making it essential to understand the factors that influence consumer purchasing behavior. This study aims to examine the extent to which brand image and perceived value contribute to customer trust and purchasing decisions regarding local skincare products in Indonesia. A quantitative research approach was employed using a survey method. Data were collected from 250 consumers who had purchased and used local skincare products through a structured questionnaire measured on a five-point Likert scale. The collected data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS 3). The findings reveal that brand image and perceived value significantly and positively influence customer trust. Brand image and perceived value were found to enhance consumers’ confidence in local skincare brands. Furthermore, brand image, perceived value, and customer trust significantly influence purchasing decisions. The results also demonstrate that customer trust partially mediates the relationships between brand image and purchasing decisions, as well as between perceived value and purchasing decisions. The structural model explains 61.8% of the variance in customer trust and 72.1% of the variance in purchasing decisions, indicating substantial explanatory power. The study concludes that customer trust plays a crucial role in translating favorable brand perceptions and value evaluations into actual purchasing decisions. These findings contribute to consumer behavior and marketing literature by providing empirical evidence from the Indonesian local skincare market. Practically, the results suggest that local skincare companies should focus on strengthening brand image, delivering superior perceived value, and fostering customer trust to enhance consumer purchasing decisions and maintain competitive advantage in the increasingly dynamic beauty industry.

Abstract

The rapid growth of equity crowdfunding in Indonesia has introduced new opportunities for public participation in investment activities while simultaneously creating challenges related to information uncertainty, investor vulnerability, and trust formation. Unlike conventional investment markets, equity crowdfunding involves greater information asymmetry because investors often evaluate privately held businesses with limited operational history and incomplete information. Therefore, mechanisms that enhance information transparency and investor protection are essential to strengthening investor confidence and supporting rational investment decisions. This study aims to examine the influence of information transparency and investor protection on investment decision-making through the mediating role of investor trust in the context of equity crowdfunding in Indonesia. This research employs a quantitative approach using survey data collected from 100 equity crowdfunding investors in Indonesia. Data were gathered through a structured questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 3. The results indicate that information transparency has a positive and significant effect on investor trust, while investor protection demonstrates a stronger positive influence on investor trust. Furthermore, investor trust significantly affects investment decision-making. Information transparency and investor protection also directly influence investment decision-making, with investor trust partially mediating these relationships. The findings demonstrate that transparent information disclosure and effective protection mechanisms are critical factors in reducing uncertainty, strengthening investor confidence, and encouraging participation in equity crowdfunding markets. This study contributes to the fintech and investment behavior literature by highlighting the importance of governance mechanisms in developing a trustworthy and sustainable equity crowdfunding ecosystem in emerging markets such as Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the protection of Indigenous Peoples’ land rights within the framework of agrarian reform policy through a normative and implementational legal analysis. The research aims to analyze the extent to which existing legal frameworks recognize and protect Indigenous land rights, identify inconsistencies within regulatory structures, and evaluate the effectiveness of their implementation in practice. Employing a normative juridical approach, this study analyzes constitutional provisions, statutory regulations, and relevant legal doctrines, complemented by a qualitative assessment of implementation challenges. The findings reveal that although Indigenous land rights are formally recognized in the legal system, such recognition remains conditional and fragmented across sectoral regulations. Overlapping authorities between land, forestry, and other resource-related laws create legal uncertainty and hinder the effective protection of customary land. Furthermore, the implementation of agrarian reform policies often fails to accommodate the collective nature of Indigenous land tenure, resulting in the marginalization of Indigenous communities. Bureaucratic complexities, limited institutional coordination, and weak enforcement mechanisms further exacerbate these challenges, leading to persistent land conflicts and dispossession. This study highlights a significant gap between normative legal guarantees and practical realities. It emphasizes the need for a more integrative and responsive legal framework that harmonizes regulations, strengthens the recognition of customary land rights, and ensures meaningful participation of Indigenous Peoples in agrarian reform processes. By bridging normative analysis with implementation perspectives, this research contributes to the development of more equitable and inclusive land governance systems that uphold Indigenous rights and promote social justice.

Abstract

This study examines the legal limits of criticism directed at the government under Articles 240 and 241 of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Indonesian Criminal Code. The central issue concerns the balance between protecting the authority and institutional integrity of the state and safeguarding freedom of expression as a fundamental civil liberty. This research employs a normative legal method using statutory, conceptual, constitutional, case, comparative, and human-rights approaches. The analysis focuses on the formulation of the offences, the distinction between criticism and insult, the complaint-based nature of prosecution, criminal responsibility for digital dissemination, and the application of the principles of legality, necessity, proportionality, and public interest. The findings indicate that Articles 240 and 241 pursue a legitimate objective insofar as they protect the effective functioning of government and state institutions from serious, malicious, and unlawful attacks. However, the broad and evaluative meaning of terms such as insult, honour, and institutional image creates risks of legal uncertainty, selective enforcement, and a chilling effect on democratic participation. The study finds that criticism should not be criminalized merely because it is harsh, offensive, satirical, emotionally expressed, or damaging to the reputation of a public institution. Criminal liability should arise only where the prosecution proves an objectively unlawful attack, the required intent, the absence of a dominant public-interest purpose, serious and legally cognisable harm, and the inadequacy of less restrictive remedies. Article 241 requires additional safeguards because the dissemination of digital content may occur for purposes of journalism, education, criticism, documentation, or public discussion. The study concludes that Articles 240 and 241 must be interpreted restrictively, with a strong presumption in favour of political expression, to ensure that the protection of state authority does not undermine constitutional democracy and civil liberties.
